Submit ReviewWe are back now that we are doing this show monthly to talk about Imposter Syndrome.
This is something that we have both experienced but maybe never been able to put a name to. We talk about the times where we have convinced ourselves that we are not good enough or that we have achieved something by luck. We look at the times we have noticed other people doing this around us and then we brainstorm the ways we think people can help manage these feelings.
Big shout out to Laura Johnston for providing the inspiration for this week's discussion.

We all know the saying you can't outrun a bad diet but does that mean it is the most important thing when it comes to losing weight and being healthy?
This week we look at the pros and cons of each and give our thoughts on which are the most important and why. The answer might surprises you (or not because it is always going to be about balance.)
But we do look at the reasons why each of these are important and how a thorough understanding of them will enable you to lose weight quicker and keep it off!

Team this episode is a goodie!
With Tim in Canada we decided to share an episode which has by far had a tremendous impact on us both individually but also how we try to highlight the importance of self reflection and building strategise
We were extremely lucky to be joined by Bevan James Eyles this week for one of the most engaging, entertaining and informative discussions we have ever been a part of (we weren't the funny, informative or engaging part.) We discussed the importance of identifying strategies to set yourself up for success, how to make sure you learn from your mistakes and not let them define you. We have an in-depth discussion about the power of optimism and how it can lead to a healthier life as well as so much more.
Honestly! This is not an attempt to get you to listen to the episode! It genuinely was just a great episode to record. Years ago Bevan started to go overboard with both drugs and alcohol until he woke up one day and didn't like who he was. He turned his life around and became not only an incredible athlete but is Internationally recognised as one of the best minds in fitness and has helped countless people to overcome their own barriers and make successful change in all aspects of their life. We are very proud to present this episode for you to listen to and we hope you get as much out of it as we did recording it.

So Robo wanted to talk about time (again) without realising that he brought up the same topic only a few episodes ago so instead we talk about how to ensure you are set up to use the time that you do have available.
We look at being realistic with yourself, understanding that there is often more time that goes into something like a one hour run than just an hour and getting your family on board. There is as always, good stuff here for people who are struggling to make a healthy change.

It is all too easy to beat yourself up when you miss a gym session or grab a sneaky mac attack on your way home. These little missteps can often lead to feelings of failure or needing to 'reset' next Monday.
This week we want to emphasise that being healthy and losing weight isn't as simple as a pass/fail and that by approaching it that way we can often derail our best efforts and set ourselves back. We look at the need to accept our own limitations and the need to accept that slip-ups or failure are actually just part of the process.

We all know it... Sleep is extremely important for our health and our weight. But forget the fancy science, this week we talk about how to develop good habits around sleep to make sure it doesn't affect your weight.
We discuss ways to help get to sleep, ways to know if you are too tired or just being a bit of a sook. We explain the ways you can develop the habit of getting up early to make time for exercise or work and even why we think you should consider napping if you can.
Hopefully this week we don't put you to sleep but you walk away understanding why your sleep-in might not be a bad thing after all!

While Robo is busy living it up on the Amalfi Coast we wanted to use the opportunity to present another podcast that we both love. Brett Robbo is a former guest on Think Fit and works with MX Endurance as a Mindset Expert.
He presents his incredible weekly podcast to help inspire people to be the best versions of themselves. This is the episode that both Tim and Mike were guests on so you still get a weekly fix of your two fit boys!

With Robo still on his honeymoon we thought it was the perfect opportunity to check in with Andrew Levins on how he is going with his own weight loss and health journey 12 months on.
This week on Think Fit, we discuss the best ways to avoid drastic changes in your weight and make sure you don't put all the weight back on. Levins is a Dad and provides lots of great advice about how to prioritise both your health and your children's health. We get into the things we have both done to avoid yo-yoing as well as what those we have seen yo-yo did wrong.

After an unplanned break, we are back this week to hit you all with a hard truth. There is no one perfect way for everyone to lose weight.
Just like some of us like pineapple on our pizza and other people are wrong, we will all have different levels of success when we try certain practices to lose weight. We talk about how to identify the approach that is correct for you and realise that while we are all different, there are some things that actually, everyone can do to be healthier. This episode is particularly focused on people who have been trying and failing to lose weight by following what other people have done.

Despite your best intentions do you find that some habits just prevent you from losing weight? You can plan and prepare as much as possible but some things are just automatic?
This week we talk about the hardest habits we had to and still have to kick to be healthy! Some of these habits prevented us from losing weight for a long time and if left unchecked, see us put weight back on very quickly. Not only do we identify what those habits were, but we also talk about the things we did to stop them from getting in the way of our weight loss!

June is Men's Health Month so to kick things off we talk about the importance of men's health matters. What does men's health mean? Is it simply about things that are only relevant to men? We look at the fact that men will often avoid issues in an attempt to toughen up or to conform to stereotypes which can lead to serious health complications and even death. We look at the mental health elements of men's health and provide some absolute must-dos for all men who listen!
Regardless if you are a man or a woman, there are things you should hear in this episode to make sure that either the men in your life or yourself are safe and healthy.

Work, family, friends, Netflix... There are only so many hours in the day so how do you fit it all in?
This week, we talk about finding time for fitness. We think one of the biggest excuses we hear is that people are too busy and we are calling bullshit. We talk about how we have managed to find the time to make our health a priority because that is what it really comes down to, making your health a priority. We provide some very basic rules for everyone to follow to start making time for your health.
These tips will be especially helpful for people who juggle many different things or who find themselves busy being busy.

Losing weight isn't a clear straight path. It is complicated, difficult and often goes back before going forward. This week on Think Fit we talk about the stages of weight loss we went through and the lessons we learned as a result of it. We look at trying and failing to lose weight, finally starting to lose weight, losing lots of weight easily, plateauing, bouncing back and putting weight back on and yo-yo-ing.
Through our own experiences, we have learned a lot about how to manage the challenges that people will face when going through these stages and we also talk about the different paths we both took to get where we are today.

You spoke and we listened and Think Fit is back to doing what we do best as we tackle the big topics to help our Think Fitters get healthier, lose weight and have fun doing it.
This week, we start by talking about what you need to do to start losing weight. We look at the things we wish we could go back and tell ourselves before we lost weight. Not starving yourself, setting achievable weight loss goals, understanding what the numbers on the scale mean and how to safely and successfully start an exercise program are just some of the things we discuss. We aim to provide as much information for people who feel helpless or lost like we used to be before we managed to finally lose weight.
We also cover the latest (and most important) health news of the week including whether red wine improves your mental health or causes cancer and the new protein powered diet from the CSIRO.

Even the best habits can become hard. If you have been healthy for a long time, you will know that sometimes you just can't be bothered. This week on Think Fit, the boys discuss the struggles of staying motivated and finding joy in what you do. Robo imparts some genuinely incredible advice about needing to identify if you either keep doing what you're doing or change what you're doing and Tim talks about the importance of being present.
This is a pretty deep, open and honest episode but as always, we want people to know it is ok to not be ok!
We have also recorded a second episode this week which we are making available to our patreons. We are planning on doing this moving forward so if you want to get a double dose of the 2 fit boys sign up for patreon below.

So much of the fitness industry is telling you there are cheats, secrets or short cuts to getting healthy or losing weight. This week, we are joined by Craig Fleming who works with clients to make them realise that they can do all the work they want in the gym, but if they don't fix their habits out of the gym they are going nowhere in a hurry.
We discuss the lessons he has learned working with people, the mistakes he sees people make and the simple things everyone can do to be better and healthier.

Getting injured, failing at your job or struggling to keep your weight off. These are just a few of the things that can leave long-term psychological scars.
This week, Tim opens up about just how scared he is about making a return to racing. This is one of those episodes that Tim and Mike would have had in private but recorded it for this week's episode because there are other people who probably go through similar things. We talk about how your confidence is often one of the hardest things to get back and the slippery slope of using your injury as an excuse.
For recommendations this week, Robo talks about how excited he is for Game of Thrones and Tim recommends Tommy Dassalo's latest stand up show, "Balding Cherub."

Exercising, watching what you eat, basic things that when you are serious about getting healthy you do. But there are so many other things we all should be doing that we don't. This week we are lucky to be joined by Matt Sweeney from Pure Performance Physiotherapy to talk about the importance of strength, mobility and proper biomechanics. We look at why taking the time to develop your technique at the start can make your weight loss and performance efforts more successful in the long run. Matt specialises in cycling and bike fits and we talk about the importance of setting yourself up for long-term success.
Matt is highly recommended by Think Fit and has been instrumental in helping Tim recover from his long term injury.

As the days get shorter and colder in the Southern Hemisphere we have both noticed the impact that it has on our healthy habits. It is harder to get out of bed to get to the gym and why are all the best comfort foods so bad for you?
We talk about the different ways in which we both struggle with the change of seasons and try to come up with some ways to minimise the impact it has on our health. This Winter, we want to avoid putting on some 'insulation' and we don't want to wait until December for our 'Summer Body!'

Can you believe it is our 100th episode?
This week we go through the worst health advice of the last 100 years. This list is guaranteed to shock you, scare you and have you wonder just how dumb do they think we are? Tips like 'smoke yourself thin', 'prey yourself thin' or 'all calories are created equal' are just some of the choicest pieces of fitness advice people have been told over the last century! No wonder people find weight loss so confusing.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this show. We are truly grateful.

This week, Tim has been living the bachelor life while his wife has been away for work. Most people would think it is the perfect opportunity to be selfish and focus on all of your healthy habits, train more, eat well and get plenty of rest.
The reality is that this has not been the case. This led to this week's discussion around relying too much on other people to be healthy. Is it easier to live a healthy life when you only have to focus on yourself or is it easier when you have someone supporting you?
Robo chips in with a list of tips for Tim to overcome this to make sure next time he is on his own, he won't neglect his health!

We welcome the newly married Mr Robinson back this week and with his turn to pick our discussion he talked about how he completely switched off from his job for his wedding and honeymoon and managed to maintain healthy practices while he was away.
Robo speaks about how he was able to stay successful by putting into practice the things we have spoken about on our previous episodes. Tim talks about getting back from a month on the road and the impact it is having on him and what it is like to get back into old routines.

As important as the hard work of being healthy is, it is just as important to take a break! This might mean cheat meals, binge-watching Netflix or spending all day in bed. People are so good at doing the work but not so good at taking time off as well.
This week we talk about why it is so important to not go 100% all the time and why moderation is your best friend when it comes to health. We got to record this episode in person again and had lots of fun doing so!

The moons aligned this week and Robo was somehow allowed entry into Australia! The two fit boys got to record together for the first time in 12 months!
Change is something often spoken about but difficult to enact. This week we talk about how things have finally clicked for both of us in the last few weeks. We are both losing weight, exercising and eating well. We talk about how through our experience we have gotten better at working through this process and the benefits as a result of it. We talk about how we have the confidence in ourselves to get our health back on track because we have done it before.
This was a lot of fun for us to record and we even streamed the episode live for our patreons.

We hit you with a two part episode this week as we want to talk about the difference between exercise and training. We go into why we think it is important that we focus more on exercise rather than training to be more inclusive.
We then look at why we feel bad when we need to take some time off and the ways we manage feeling this way. We talk about ensuring we don't go back to bad habits and ways in which you can still feel good about yourself even if you aren't getting those exercise endorphins!

Making time for everything is something that most people struggle with and the two hosts of this podcast are no different.
This week on Think Fit we discuss our struggles with balancing work, life and being healthy and active. We talk about the things that work for us and what makes it hard. It's amazing how often a lack of balance can lead to struggles with health, weight and so many other areas of your life. We think balance is something that most people can relate to but also something that most people can be better at as well.

Welcome to a new year of Think Fit!
We are back after taking a break over the new year and are ready for a bigger and better 2019! We have changed things up again and we hope that this will mean you get more of what you like when you listen to two fit boys!
This week we talk about why Tim might be so tired lately and the things within his control that might make a difference. We look at diet, sleep, exercise and other external factors. We want to make this show more of a conversation between two friends and we hope that comes through in this episode.
As we are trying something a bit different, please let us know your thoughts and feedback!

To celebrate the new year we are joined by Think Fit favourite, Chloe McLeod to talk about all the little changes we are all planning on making in 2019 to be healthier. We talk about the small and big changes we are making and what we think everyone who listens can do to be healthier in 2019 as well.
No surprises but we look at things like drinking less alcohol, sleeping more, taking better care of ourselves. We wanted to do something a little different to a standard 'how to keep your new year resolutions' episode.
We will be taking a few weeks off but look forward to a big 2019!

Few athletes have had as significant an impact on the world as Muhammad Ali. He is known for his quick wit, incredible boxing prowess and for being stripped of the heavyweight championship of the world.
Of all of his fights, one of the greatest, possibly of all time was when he fought George Foreman in the "Rumble in the Jungle."
For the second year in a row, we want to give you something a little different at Christmas as our way of saying thank you for all of your support during the year. So settle in and listen to the Think Fit boys tell you one of the greatest sporting stories of all time!

Did you know that there is a whole range of health risks associated with the festive season? No, we are not just talking about people putting on a few extra pounds from eating too many mince pies. There are significant increases in a whole range of other problems including stress, domestic violence and loneliness.
So two fit boys are here to help you get through the holidays for the second year in a row! We talk about how to avoid stress caused by the festive season including financial stress, social stress, and the stress of spending time with your family (seriously!) We talk about how to take care of your self at Christmas including setting time aside to actually rest, why it is important to pick a few key Christmas parties rather than all of them and why you shouldn't be surprised if you aren't able to train as well as you usually would.
For recommendations this week, Robo recommended getting your family experiences rather than things for Christmas and Tim recommended the Christmas film, 'Jingle All The Way.'
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Can you believe it's already December?
As we hit the end of 2018 we wanted to start our busiest month of the year (when you consider all the poor health choices people make at Christmas time) by talking about how our health has been impacted this year. We look at the biggest lessons we have learned about health in 2018.
We talk about the things we have taken away from doing this podcast and how we have implemented them in our everyday lives to be healthier people. Things like developing strategies, learning from your mistakes, making your own health a priority and the importance of balance are some of the key discussion points. We go into what our guests have taught us this year and what our listeners have taught us too.
This is a great episode to trigger the things you picked up and maybe get you back on track if you have noticed some of your good habits slipping lately.
For recommendations this week, Robo recommends Light Box NZ: https://www.lightbox.co.nz and Tim recommends one of his favourite Christmas movies, 'The Santa Clause'.

To help celebrate all things Movember (even though this comes out in December) we wanted to have an open and honest conversation this week about something that most people do not want to talk about.
When most people hear the name Roy Asotasi they think football star. Roy played professional rugby league, won a grand final and even captained the New Zealand national team. What people don't probably realise is that growing up, his younger brother Edwin tried to kill himself. This week we are joined by the brothers who know run F45 together to have a conversation about this experience. We talk about what led to Eddie's attempt to end it all, how this impacted his parents, how it impacted the relationship these brothers have and why we need to talk about it.
We go even further into this sensitive topic to talk about why we need to start asking if people are ok and what things we can all do to try and help not only other people but also ourselves.
We really want to thank these two absolute legends for opening up about this incredibly personal and traumatic experience. We hope that by shedding light on this topic we can help to normalise conversations about mental health.

So in case you didn't know, a triathlon is called a TRIathlon because it involves 3 sports. A case could be made that the least popular of those three sports is the swim.
This month we wanted to 'dive' into the swim leg. We talk all about the best ways to get comfortable in the water and the ways you can go from doggy paddling to swimming as well as Frodo! We talk about what gear you will need, how to get comfortable in the water, how much pool v open water swimming you should do, if swimming in a squad will help and ways you can practice open water skills if you don't have any open water nearby.
We give some of our favourite pool sessions and as always, answer our patreon questions.

Sometimes when you stop thinking about what you are trying to do you will be surprised that you actually do it.
Goals can be big and thinking about how we want to achieve them can be intimidating. So intimidating that it can actually be the thing that stops you from achieving them.
This week on Think Fit we try and tell you why it is time to stop overcomplicating your goals and start to achieve them. Let's be honest, this is a pretty loose episode. We cop a dud of an article (or get tricked by clickbait) and at times struggle to even remember what we were trying to say. Have a listen, if you get something out of it, great! If not, we will do a better job next week!

Are you a liar? Are you honest with yourself?
Chances are you are guilty of lying to yourself about something. But what about your health? Do you ever try to convince yourself that you are too tired? It's too hard or that more is always better? Have you ever told yourself any of these lies?
This week we talk all about the lies we have told ourselves that have negatively impacted on our health. We get honest and admit some of the worst lies we have told ourselves. Things like we can eat what we want because we train, I earned this, I just need to get through this and many more like this. We then go even more in-depth and deal with the lies like I'm ok, this will make me feel better and there must be something wrong with me.
The truth is that these lies don't ever help. If anything, they make it harder to be healthier!

We have all heard the cliche that it isn't winning that's important, it's giving it your best shot. This statement could not be truer when it comes to health.
This week on Think Fit we give our thoughts on why it is more important to try and make healthy choices, even if you always fail than it is to be successful. We talk about it doesn't matter if you keep getting it wrong as long as you keep trying. We talk about accepting that most people will probably never really 'win'. We discuss why trying and failing is automatically better than never trying at all. Robo gets deep and talks about how managing your expectations before you start might mean that the fear of failure won't prevent you from getting started. We also talk about how much more we have learned from failing than we ever had from winning and how scary it would have been if our first failures meant we never got to where we are today.
Finally, we acknowledge that there is nothing wrong with losing. Over 50,000 people run the New York Marathon but only one person wins. We don't think too many of the other 49,999 people feel like losers at the finish line!
For recommendations this week, Robo recommends the updates to facetime and Tim recommends the new movie, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Some days, despite your best efforts you just can't be bothered to go to the gym or follow your meal plan. Guess what! It happens to everyone and often it can be for a number of reasons.
This week, we both struggled to make this episode happen because quite frankly we couldn't be bothered. But our struggles are your reward as we sat down and worked out ways to make sure you can still stay on track when you really don't want to.
We looked at needing to understand the difference between fatigue and a lack of motivation, making small alternative changes to your lifestyle, changing your perspective on why you want to be fit, making exercise more social, finding activities that you want to do and making sure that if you are fatigued or worn out that you recover both physically and mentally.
For recommendations this week, Robo recommended Swozzi: https://swozzi.com/ and Tim recommended Making a Murderer. We also announced that we are both taking part in Movember this year so please if you can, make a donation to support this great cause: https://mobro.co/thinkfitpod

Who doesn't like to go fast?
This month on Think Tri we get into the nuts and bolts of how we started to gain speed as triathletes. For both of us, we spent a lot of time focusing on losing weight and getting fit. At some point though, our attention turned to speed. We talk about our favourite speed sessions for swim, bike and run as well as the often neglected transition.
We also give our thoughts on the recent Iron Man World Championship race and Super League Jersey. We discuss some of the upcoming changes to MaccaX and we give our favourite workouts of the month.

Have you jumped out of a plane? Held a snake? Gone for a swim with sharks? We all have something we are afraid of and it is completely normal that people avoid the things that scare them. But what about when your fears prevent you from becoming healthier?
This week we talk about all the ways in which fear can limit your ability to be healthy. We look at some of the more obvious fears like fear of failure. fear of judgement and fear of letting people down. But what about the fear of success? Fear of honesty or fear of hard work. These are all things that can prevent people from making those first big steps towards healthier choices.
We then turn our attention to how fear can be a good thing. Using fear as a motivator, fear as accountability or accepting that being afraid of what other people think of you will set you free.

You're doing the training, watching what you eat yet the number on the scales isn't going down....
First, there is a whole list of reasons why you might not be losing weight but guess what! There are still plenty of ways to find out if you are getting healthier.
This week, we talk about all the ways to know if you are getting healthier even though your weight isn't going down. We talk about lower heart rate, improved diet, better sleep, improved objective results, faster recovery and many others. We hope that by giving you all some things to look out for you won't lose hope or motivation when you aren't seeing that number decreasing.
We hit a bit of a low this week as we turn our attention on an article from GQ, 'How to Lose Belly Fat in 2 Days.' The article seems to deal more with bloating for some reason but again, just another treat for all of our Think Fit listeners!

This week it was world mental health day and we thought it was the perfect opportunity to talk about mental health!
There are some alarming statistics about how many people suffer from mental health problems in silence and we want to do what we can to change that.
We wanted to specifically look at the impact of the social pressures of fitness on your mental health. The pressure to do certain exercises *cough* crossfit *cough* or use certain brands of equipment. When this pressure or your inability to meet the expectations of others prevent you from getting active. We talk about the pressure you can put on yourself and when that pressure feeds your negative emotions and impacts your mental health and then we give our tips to make sure that you don't let this pressure negatively affect you.
The main message this week is that if you are suffering or feeling like you need help, that you ask for it.
For recommendations, Robo recommends catching the IronMan World Championship highlight package and Tim recommends the cadence based playlists on Spotify.

Some people love to hit the gym and bench press their own body weight. Others love pounding the pavement and running until the soles of their shoes are distant memories of the past. But which sort of training will help you lose the most weight?
This week, two fit boys tell you, faithful listener, what is the best way to lose weight! We go through the advantages of cardio training, the advantages of strength training and we even use some statistics this week! We then go through how we used each of these training methods in our weight loss and how we both use them today.
For recommendations this week we both recommend shows on Netflix. Robo recommends Ozark and Tim recommends Brooklyn 99.

On the 4th edition of Think Tri we take you through our favourite races around the world! We pick our top 3 events around the world and say why we love them. There are some which won't surprise you and maybe some that do.
We also give our thoughts on the 70.3 World Championship races and our predictions for Kona.
We then answer a number of listener questions about the specifics of travelling for events. We discuss hard v soft bike bags, how long before an event should you arrive, the best ways to adjust to different time zones, how to deal with different weather conditions, what we look for when picking events, and ways to avoid problems with lost baggage around races too.
As always, this show is made possible by our wonderful patreons and they pick what we discuss.

What if someone told you that you could stop dieting and not only be healthier, but happier too? Sounds too good to be true right?
This week we are joined by the amazing Monica Mignone from Balance by Monica. Monica used to do all the diets and her weight would go down, then up, then down and up again. Finally, Monica realised that her life was out of balance and this became the cornerstone of her approach to food and life.
Monica is a practicing Nutritionist who believed that you should not give up your favourite foods. What is more, Monica believes that life is too short to count your calories or obsess over what you eat.
We talk about Monica's approach to food and what balance means to her. The power of labels, how dieting or more importantly, not dieting can impact your mental health and the little things we can all do to be balanced and live healthier lives.
This episode is the perfect way to wrap up our month of food. Monica's seems to summarise and wrap up everything we spoke about. We also feel that Monica's approach to food, diet, and health is very similar to ours here at Think Fit. For that reason, we are extremely excited to share this episode with you.

Ever heard that too much of a good thing can be bad? What about when it comes to diet? Putting too much energy into getting your diet right can actually have a negative impact on your health.
If you have listened to this show before you will not be surprised to hear that stress and difficult emotions can have an adverse impact on your ability to lose weight. So when focusing on your food causes stress, anxiety and even depression, how can that be good for your weight?
We talk about feelings of guilt and anxiety from trying to religiously follow your meal plan and the potential stress of trying to fit it all in. We discuss the power of words and by calling some foods as bad can make you feel bad if you eat them. We look at when eating well becomes 'work' which can make it seem like a chore to do it properly.
Buckle in, this week it is a loose one!
For recommendations, Robo recommends training (or something like that) and Tim recommends a Dexa scan.

One of the most common questions we get here at Think Fit is about the plant-based diet or being vegan. Of the many things we are not experts of, being plant-based is one of them. So what do we on Think Fitt when we don't know what to say? We find someone who does.
We are proud to present our interview with Holistic Nutritionist, Kate Levins. Kate explains to us about why she chose to go vegan, the changes it has had to her health. We talk about the health and environmental impacts of going plant-based and what people who don't want to go plant-based can learn from people who are.
Kate dispels a number of the most common 'myths' about being vegan and presents an incredibly balanced view on what we can all do to be healthier and happier if whether or not you eat animal products.
Don't see this week's description and think that you will be lectured to for an hour about why you need to give up meat. There is some absolutely incredible information that will help everyone on this week's show.
For recommendations this week, Robo recommends a quinoa salad recipe which will be available on our Facebook page (if he remembers to post it) and Tim recommends checking out the recipe section of Kate's website.

Much like training, there needs to be a different approach to your diet when you are trying to lose weight and when trying to perform at your best. If you can count on one thing with Think Fit, if we don't know the answer, we will try and find someone who does. Or in this case, two people.
This week we are extremely lucky to be joined by the brains behind The Health & Performance Collective, Jess Spendlove and Chloe McLeod. Using their super-powers of knowing what to put in your body and when, they teach the two Think Fit boys the different ways they should approach diet. They highlight the importance of periodisation and optimisation of your diet, why it is important to ensure you are fuelled properly for performance as well as why it is important to eat enough when you try and lose weight as well. They explain the importance of protein and carbs and why trying to eat less will lead to poorer results. Basically, they tell you how to eat to get the best out of yourself if you are trying to drop weight or perform at your peak!
We find out their opinions on the keto diet, intermittent fasting and all the other wonderful diet advice you come across online. The best thing, they make sure the information is easy to understand and follow!
For recommendations this week, Robo continues with his theme of dispensing advice and suggests you take a 3-day weekend. Chloe talks about the importance of sleep and Tim recommends the T.V. show Smallville!

There is nothing worse than that little voice in your head that tells you that not only do you want the chocolate but that you need the chocolate. Cravings are something that most people deal with but they don't have to rule you!
This week we want to help you by providing our tips to not give in to your cravings. We talk about avoiding stress or other emotions which trigger cravings, eating enough healthy and nutritious food so you don't have room for the sweet treats you crave but don't need. We suggest not cutting things out of your diet entirely, following a plan, making certain foods 'sometimes' foods and finding healthier alternatives to those bad things you crave. We also give many more tips but you will just have to listen to find out!
We struggle through an article about the most entertaining and exciting ways to lose belly fat (I even feel like I am writing sarcastically) and give some insight into the upcoming guests we will have on the show.

Welcome back everyone to another episode of our bonus monthly show, Think Tri.
This month we answer all of your questions about the bike (as long as you are in our patreon group.) We look at the differences between road bikes, time-trial bikes, and triathlon bikes. We talk about when and why you should buy aero wheels. We explain what watts are all about and how you can use them to optimise your training. We let you know if a power meter is an essential training tool, how much time you should spend on a trainer and how much time you should spend outside. We look at how many 100km+ rides you should do in the lead up to a 70.3, what sort of sessions are best for improving your FTP and much much more.
Literally, if you have wondered about it, we have probably answered it this week. Like with Think Fit, we try and keep the information as simple and easy for you to understand as possible.
As always, a special thank you to our patreons for supporting us and allowing these episodes to be made.

Would you rather be skinny or healthy? We aren't saying the two are mutually exclusive, but if you had to choose one, honestly, which would you pick?
This week we take a long hard look in the mirror and attempt to answer this question. Surprisingly, we both agreed we would rather be skinny than healthy. We both agreed that we know that we should say healthy but because of our background and the way that people perceive 'what looks good,' we would both rather be skinny. From this conversation, we dive into the nuts and bolts of the problem, what is skinny? Why do we think skinny is desirable and we come out the other side thinking that maybe we really should aim to be healthy because realistically, being skinny can be very unhealthy. We talk about the risks of being skinny-fat, being underweight and the importance of putting your health before the number on the scale. We also brainstorm some ways to know if you are getting too light.

Social media has a pretty bad reputation. It is associated with issues around body image, bullying and other horrible things. But what if you could use social media to help with your weight?
This week we recorded live in Canada and were lucky enough to be joined by Canadian superstar Jenna-Caer Seefried. We talk about how you can utlise social media to help you lose weight and be healthy. We look at things like using social media to step outside of your comfort zone, hold yourself accountable to your network, starting a blog, vlog or podcast, asking questions you don't know the answer to, finding healthy recipes and much much more.
When it is used properly, social media can be an incredibly valuable resource to help you get healthy and drop the kgs you have been struggling with!
To keep in line with our Canadian theme this week, we find out about 17 Canadian dishes that will make you go wtf. For recommendations, Jenna likes flavoured sparkling water and Tim recommends Canada.

Guilt is a useless emotion. It leads to a whole range of more difficult emotions and if left unchecked can lead to depression and other serious conditions.
We both experience our share of guilt over a whole range of things so we thought it would be a good idea to try and give you all some tips on how to give up on grief and not let it control you. We give a whole range of tips for your Think Fit Toolbox. We go through things like accepting that guilt is normal and that we all make mistakes. That saying sorry when you make a mistake is the first step to not letting your guilt control you. We also talk about the fact that when someone makes you feel guilty about you it is more likely something that they don't like about themselves.
This week, we present groundbreaking research from laughteryoga.com that laughter can emphasise your workout. 100 laughs are the same as 15 minutes of cardio!

If you listened to last week's epsiode, Robo finished by asking the question, 'are you really happy? Or are you happy because you compare yourself to what you used to be?" This got us both thinking and thinking led from one thing to another. We both realised that lots of people struggle to be happy for so many reasons. So Think Fit is here to save the day!
This week on the show we talk about ways you can allow yourself to be happy. We talk about the importance of contentment, or not wanting more, being responsible for your own happiness, not needing to make everyone else happy and most importantly, the fact that it is absolutely ok to not always be happy!
We also experience a Think Fit first this week! Tim has finally said something so bad that we had to beep it out! This episode was quite an intense conversation to be part of with some serious stuff happening to the two fit boys in their lives at the moment. But, the show must go on and we hope you get something out of this one!

Welcome back everybody to the second episode of our monthly triathlon show, Think Tri.
This month we get into the specifics of how our training changed when we went from simply completing races to racing for the podium. We get into the specifics of our swim, bike and run training and how they have evolved. We talk about some of the key sessions we use now, how we started to use them and the impact that they made on our training. We try and provide as much information about the methods we have used to improve.
We also talk about the mental shift we both experienced and how focusing on delivering good results has impacted on our performance and approach to preparation. We talk about FTP, CSS and a whole range of other benchmark tests you can use as well as give out some of our go-to sessions to help you improve!
We also want to thank our patreons for their support. Without them, this show would not be happening. If you want to suggest topics for this show then jump on board our patreon program.

Time, we all think we have it until it runs out. How many people say they will start the diet tomorrow or finally use their gym membership next week. How many actually do?
This week we want to talk about making the most of now. About being present in the now to make sure you don't put off the important things until tomorrow. Focusing on what has happened in the past and what could happen in the future leads to difficult emotions which can be barriers to getting active now. We discuss why it is difficult to be present in today's world, what being present means to both of us and ways to be present.
Our tips this week include acknowledging your current situation, owning your choices, understanding the priority you give different things and of course meditation. We also make some other suggestions to make the most of now including telling the people you care about that you care about them, taking time to appreciate what you are doing and to not leave things for future you.
In an amazing moment of brilliance, Robo comes up with our topic for next week and assk our listeners to answer that question themselves as his recommendation. Tim recommends The Teacher's Pet Podcast.

How often do you hear someone talk about how they aren't motivated to train or they are super motivated to get in shape? It is a word that gets thrown around a lot. Accountability is equally important but not something we like to talk about quite as much.
This week we wanted to know why that is. Why do we all talk about motivation? What is better at making us be healthy? Is it all about motivation or is it about being accountable? We talk about things like, what is motivation? Why does it run out? What is motivating? Is there such a thing as negative motivation?
We then turn our attention to accountability. Being held accountable is something that can certainly lead to getting things done but does that mean that it is motivating or is it something else? We try to work out which one is more important and more effective at keeping you on track.
This was an incredibly interesting conversation to be part of as lots of the things we spoke about made us think about 15 other things. At the end of the show, we try and provide some tips to use motivation to reach your goals too.
This week Robo wants you all to check out his latest blog post on his website, www.kiwitriathlete.com and Tim recommends a new supporter of his, MB Wear Cycling socks. We are all different. We have different bodies, metabolism, talents, jobs, families, backgrounds and preferences of peanut butter. What takes 2 weeks for one person might take 2 years for another. That doesn't mean that either person is any better or worse than anyone else.
This week we discuss how important it is to accept that your weight loss journey will take exactly as long as it will take. Not as long as it took Tim, or as long as it took that guy from Subway that turned out to be a bad bloke...
Once you can accept that there are no shortcuts, that in order to be successful you will need to put in the hard yards, you will have an easier time of it. But hey! This is Think Fit BABY! We do what we can to make it easier for you to be successful! So this week we talk all about the ways you can become better at accepting that good things take time.
We talk about the importance of being honest about what you need to achieve and how you need to achieve it, being nice to yourself and supporting yourself through the process, the importance of understanding where you currently are. Another important point is that just because you accept something doesn't mean you have to like it.
What this episode really comes down to is that it is impossible to force yourself or someone else to accept anything. You can do things to make it easier but the sooner you realise that it is a process you need to work through, the sooner you can focus your efforts on getting in shape!
For recommendations this week, Robo recommends Fartlek running and Tim recommends developing a strong relationship with your healthcare professionals.

The two fit boys from Think Fit have been feeling a bit more like two fat boys and are both desperate to do something about it.
Lucky for you, we plan to tell you exactly how we are going to go about it. This week on Think Fit we are talking about what you can do to give your health or weight loss a jump start. These red hot tips are applicable if you have slipped up lately and need to get back on track or if you are just starting out and need that final push to get started.
Things like setting realistic expectations so you don't go out like a bull at a gate, making good habits a priority early on so they become permanent, making time for your health, having a positive attitude and starting easy. We then get into the juicy topic of changes to diet.
If you have listened lately you will know that Robo has decided to follow a low carb, high-fat diet to get in shape. Hear all about what that looks like for him. Tim, on the other hand, talks about the practical changes to his diet that he is going to make and doesn't mention a single acronym!
For recommendations this week, Robo recommends the Netflix show, Sense8 and Tim recommends the Game, Hollow Knight.

Ever feel like there aren't enough hours in the day? Or even worse, are you guilty of taking your work home with you and not switching off? This week we have an honest and open discussion about our struggles with managing the work/life balance and the impact it is having on our health.
Hosting this podcast means that we often feel like we need to be shining examples of how to be healthy and have it all figured out. But like everyone else, we slip up sometimes. So in this episode, we talk about how these struggles are affecting not only our physical health but our mental health as well. We provide some tips to ensure that you are able to switch off at the end of the day and focus on the other areas of your life that deserve your attention.
Our tips this week are very practical and include things like using lists to prioritise your work, having set hours for work and focusing on single goals at a time. There is even an amazing analogy about rocks and sand that will have you by the seat of your pants!
For recommendations this week, Robo recommends our new bonus episode, Think Tri (no surprises there!) and Tim recommends the HBO series Silicon Valley.

Welcome to our new bonus monthly show, Think Tri. If you have listened to Think Fit you will know that we both love triathlon and now thanks to our amazing patreon supporters, we are ready to share that love with you.
This bonus monthly episode will be all about our tips and tricks to go from the back of the pack to the front. We base this entirely on our own experiences.
On this first ever episode we give a detailed run through of our progress in the sport. We start with our early beginnings in the sport where even finishing was a challenge and finish with winning age group races, sub 10 hour Iron Man results and the pursuit of a 4:05 70.3.
Along the way, we talk about how our training changed so that you can start to adopt some of the same changes in your own training. We also talk about the advice we wish we could have given ourselves when we first started out in the sport all those years ago to help other beginner triathletes out there now!
We hope this is the first of many of these bonus episodes! If you want to make sure they keep happening or have a particular topic you would like us to cover, then sign up for our patreon. You can also chec out our regular episodes as well!

Exercising and eating well but finding that your health isn't quite as good as it should be? There is another aspect of health that we often neglect, our own mental health. This week we are joined by a guest who takes a holistic approach to health. Leanne Hall is an Integrative Psychologist who believes in the connection between body and mind for the healthiest version of you.
In her practice, Leanne uses diet and exercise as well as traditional remedies to deal with the negative emotions or difficult feelings that we all experience. Leanne explains her approach to health and then goes into her approaches to health through food, health through exercise and health through the mind.
We discuss why people are so good at avoiding difficult emotions or feelings and the health consequences of this. We also have an interesting conversation about the psychological side effects of dealing with injury and the idea of meditation through movement.
This is an interview which can provide not only tips for how to improve your diet, exercise and mental health but also ways you can incorporate these tips into your everyday life.
There is honestly so much gold in this episode with something for everybody!
For recommendations this week, Robo recommends training on Zwift (he finally listened to Tim) and Tim recommended rewatching the 90's classic, Jurrasic Park.

Losing Weight is an incredible achievement. It requires sacrifice, determination and lots of hard work. If you have listened to this show before you will know that we firmly believe that there are no short-cuts or easy ways to lose weight. But what you might not know is that most people who lose a significant amount of weight put it back on.
Why is it so common for people to put their weight back on? What is it about keeping the weight off that is so hard?
This leads us to our topic for this week, which one is more difficult? Losing weight in the first place or keeping it off? Tim having lost weight and never put it back on argues that it is harder to lose the weight in the first place because of all the drastic changes that you need to make in the first place to lose weight and because there are so many people who struggle to lose weight at all. Robo, however, thinks that keeping the weight off is harder as you lose motivation and focus once you reach your goals or your results start to taper off and life gets in the way.
Robo provides his tips on how to keep the weight off by using goal setting and Tim provides some practical tips to know when you might be starting to slip.
For our recommendations this week, Robo recommends his blog and the 10-week journey he is about to embark on. He is inviting members of our patreon to follow him as he tries to get his own weight back to where it should be. Tim recommends the FIFA World Cup and using the early morning games (in Australia ) to help develop new and good habits.

There has been a lot of discussion about the documentary, The Magic Pill. It is a film which presents the benefits of the ketogenic diet. This week on Think Fit we have a discussion about this controversial film.
The Magic Pill has stirred up a lot of controversies lately with the Australian Medical Association requesting that Netflix remove the documentary from its service. Can eating a ketogenic diet cure autism? Can it cure cancer? Can it help you lose weight? These are all topics which are raised and in some instances suggested during the film and is mostly why the film is considered controversial.
One of our guiding principles here at Think Fit is to try and pass on information that is as simple and as unintimidating as possible. That is certainly what we have attempted to do this week. We talk about the main messages of the film, some of the weirder points, what we liked about it and what we didn't. Should people watch this film? Tune in to find out whether we think you should. If you have already seen it, tune in to hear if you agree or disagree with our opinions. Whatever we do, let's continue a discussion about how to live healthier lives.

After many weeks on the road, Mike Robinson returns to the podcast studio to deliver more red-hot content to get you thinking fit.
After so many weeks apart we have plenty to catch up on with Mike being on the road, Tim being injured, we have both been struggling to keep on top of our fitness. This made us wonder, what would we do to stay in shape if we could not train? We start by talking about why it would be hard. Tim thinks it would be harder than Mike does. But the biggest hurdles would be changing diet, losing routine and motivation. We then turn to the things we would do to make sure we stayed healthy. The first thing we realised was that health is more than just weight. So for that reason, we would make an extra effort to spend time with health professionals as there are many other health issues other than weight. We talk about making the best use of the extra time we would have. We would make sure we used the time to eat properly and prepare our food and other changes we would make to our diet. We would look at what we do for work and how we might need to change it to stay healthy. We disagree if we would keep our cars or sell them and much much more.
To celebrate Robo's return we discuss the first article we are sure that we know more than the author. There was laughter and tears as we genuinely struggle to get through this one! Mike recommends drinking beer in Europe and Tim recommends one of his new supporters, Blue Seventy.

Karate, Taekwondo, MMA, Jiu Jitsui! This week we are talking about fighting!
The more we do this show the more we realise that everyone has a different relationship with fitness. At the same time, there are more similarities than you would expect too. We are extremely lucky to be joined by Exercise Physiologist Tyrell Navarro this week. Tyrell is a martial artist and fighter who has experience with a range of different combat styles. We talk about the training required for fighting, how you prepare for a sport where the other person is literally trying to hurt you. Things get really interesting when we discuss the mental aspects of fighting, what your mind does when it is in an uncomfortable position and how to train it to manage those situations.
Tyrell shares with us his thoughts on how people can better prepare themselves to get in shape and the biggest mistakes that he sees people make when they are trying to get healthy. He talks about what are the unexpected benefits of martial arts and how it has impacted his everyday life.
This is an extremely interesting conversation and the parallels between martial arts and endurance sports are surprisingly common. We share a listener email that highlights just what a wonderful community we have around this show.
Our recommendations this week include the new Star Wars movie, Solo and the book "A Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl.
Tyrell has been actively involved with Tim's recovery from his injury and works at Precision Athletica in Sydney.

Robo is MIA for a couple of weeks which means that Tim has been on the hunt to find some great co-hosts to fill that shiny-headed void! This week we are lucky to be joined by DJ, Food Writer, Cook, Author and Podcaster, Andrew Levins.
Levins shares with us his experiences with losing weight. In the last year, Levins has seen his weight drop by nearly 20kg without a marathon or a triathlon in sight! We discuss how he put on his weight, what made him decide to make the change and how we lost his weight. F45 has played a major role in his weight loss so we have a discussion about what it is and why it worked for him. From the list of things that Levins does, he is a busy man who has managed to make his fitness a priority. He also has a number of jobs which are almost designed to make you fat. So we talk about how his weight loss has affected his work as a food writer, if it has had any impact on the ways that he interacts with his friends and how they interact with him and why it is important for him as a Dad to make his health and fitness a priority.
No surprises that a chat with a man who has 5 of his own podcasts is one of the longest episodes we have recorded to date. We have lots of fun talking about many of the things we love and go off on a number of tangents about comics, movies and computer games. We discuss an article about the 12 different people you see at the gym. For recommendations, we discuss the new PS4 game, God of War. Levins recommends his sister's vegan nutrition business 'Nourishing Club: https://nourishingclub.com and Tim recommends one of Levins podcasts 'Hey Fam!' and all the shows on the Planet Broadcasting Network.

Let's be honest, we all do it. We all compare who we are, what we do, what we have or how we look to other people. It is a slippery slope that achieves nothing.
This week we talk all about our experiences with comparing ourselves to others. Things like worrying that people are fitter, faster, skinnier, stronger, all the usual stuff. But once you start where do you stop? We talk about all the reasons why it is a waste of time and completely unfair to compare yourself to others. We then talk about how you stop yourself from doing it as well. We talk about things like verbalising who or what you are wasting your time comparing to, using comparison as a source of motivation rather than making yourself feel bad, using mindfulness to be more present and focus on what you have control over.
We present an article about the side effects of taking some of the most common weight loss medications. You know, the usual things like losing control of your bowels, problems with reproduction and suicidal thoughts.
Robo recommends Pete Evans Cook Book "Healthy Every Day" and Tim recommends a Netflix show "Ugly Delicious."

Two Kiwis and an Australian sit down to record a podcast. No, it isn't the start of a bad joke but it is this week's episode of Think Fit.
This week, we are extremely excited to be joined by Luke Taylor from Taylored Health & Performance. Through his own struggles with injuries and a diagnosed disorder, Luke developed his own approach to helping people achieve their best results. Luke works with a range of clients from top professional athletes to people who are trying to get into shape. From his experience, Luke's methodology has a large focus on the importance of good biomechanics and mobility.
We discuss the importance of a strong foundation for people who are trying to get into shape and why it is just as important, if not more so, for people who regularly partake in endurance sports. Luke believes in prevention rather than repair and wants to educate the masses about why a strong foundation is important. In addition to his own expertise (he uses lots of big words!) Luke has his own amazing story and is an absolute wealth of knowledge.
We also discuss another particularly nasty article about 20 reasons to stop eating junk food (we definitely don't go through all 20 of them.) We wouldn't recommend eating during this week's episode! Robo recommends a show on Netflix called The Magic Pill, Tim recommends Carbon Mafia and Luke recommends the Joe Rogan podcast (after you listen to Think Fit.)

It is easy to think that the reason why you are not losing weight is that you are not trying hard enough or that you don't have enough self-discipline or mental strength. But what about the other factors. If you were to ask yourself why aren't you losing weight and have to give an answer OTHER than yourself, what would you come up with? This week we try and put another tip into your Think Fit Tool Box. We give you a simple to follow and easy to understand step-by-step guide to overcome your weight loss barriers.
"But I don't need to lose weight" we hear you say. Well here is the great thing. These tips can be applied to any sort of barrier you might be facing. Whether it is getting higher marks at uni, a promotion at work or a sub 5-hour half-ironman. If you follow the same 4 steps we discuss this episode you will be overcoming your barriers in no-time.
In addition to the greatest step-by-step guide, you are likely to ever hear on this show, we also present a truly terrifying article about the scariest diets that people have ever tried. Be warned! These are not for the faint of heart (or stomach!)
Our recommendations this week are the new crash alert function on Garmin bike computers and ANZAC Cookies (if you don't know what they are google them!)

It's funny how quickly you can forget the things that hurt you the most. Feeling inspired after our episode with Jess Hay we wanted to talk about some of the hardest experiences we had when we were overweight. Simple things, silly things and some very sad things that we did or had happen to us when we were fat. Things like being worried about what people would think when we would order food or take public transport. Why neither of us feel comfortable shopping for clothes, some hard lessons learned on the sports field and some irrational fears that caused us many sleepless nights.
In the spirit of honesty that we try to promote on the show, that is what we go for this week. Brutal, hard honesty about some of our toughest experiences. We also discuss a recent piece of news that claims breakfast is not the most important meal of the day and we should skip it. Tim brings out a story from the 'depths of the DM' in the name of content!
Our recommendations this week are the new FitBit multisport watch, the fitbit blaze and Avengers Infinity War (even though it wasn't out yet!)

One of the best ways to keep your weight loss goals on track is to hold yourself accountable. But how many people who weigh close to 200kg would be willing to document their weight loss journey in front of the entire world? This week we are joined by the amazing and inspiring Jess Hay! Jess saw the number on the scales getting higher and higher until it was nearly at 200kg or 440 pounds. Jess realised she had to make a change so she started doing her local weekly parkrun.
Jess shares with us how she put on her weight and why she has no one else to blame but herself. Jess talks about the incredible positivity she has experienced while being so open with her successes and her failures. She also talks about her fears and why she cannot give up. She is a shining example of the magic that can happen when you have a go!
What we love about Jess is that her story is far from over. In fact, it is only just beginning. Prepare for laughs, almost tears and absolutely brutal honesty in one of the most inspiring interviews we have ever recorded!

Who would have thought it!
When we decided to start a little podcast about how to get healthy, lose weight and make it fun and uncomplicated we had no idea what to expect. Here we are celebrating the 1st anniversary of Think Fit! This week we opened it up to our listeners to answer your questions. We answer questions about how we started the podcast, what are our favourite episodes, what have we gotten out of it.... We also answer some more technical questions about the role that strength and conditioning plays in our lives, how to manage mental fatigue during endurance sports events and most importantly, are two burgers really better than one!
We discuss an article about fitness myths that are doing actual harm and Robo reads an article about mental strength tips. We both want to thank you all for tuning in for the last 12 months! We have had a lot of fun with this show and we definitely feel like it is represented by the amount of fun we had recording this episode!

This week we delve into one of the internet's most controversial and to be honest, boring topics. Food. The 4 letter F word that we are too afraid to speak about. As with all great conversations we went into this one with a clear goal about what we were going to cover and somehow ended completely off track. We talk about some of the worst eating habits we have had as well as some pieces of food marketing that we both fell for that turned out to be complete rubbish. We talk about how you need to find an approach to food that works for you and that ultimately, stick to it. There are stories, tangents, and a few rants but what more would you expect from Think Fit!?!
We discuss 2 articles in great depth this week including 7 nutritional lies we tell ourselves and 10 weeks to lose your spare tyre through good habits (no surprises that one of them is sleep!) Our next episode is our first birthday - can you please send in any questions you have for us as we would love to do a listener Q&A for the 52nd episode!

The first guest we ever had on Think Fit was the random ultra-endurance athlete Rob Woolley. Rob was the guy who signed Tim up for his first ever triathlon and is responsible for kickstarting Tim's big change.
This week we are lucky to be joined by Rob again to have an in-depth discussion about what sort of impact ultra-endurance events have on the human body. Rob has just returned from a 160km run in New Zealand and has now competed in some of the world's biggest ultra races. Rob is also a professional physiotherapist and shares with us his personal and professional opinion about what ultra-endurance events do to a person. We discuss the sort of injuries people can experience, when it is time to go long and why, how to step up in distance, the mental challenge of ultra-events and the sort of impact that ultra-endurance sport can have on your weight.
As always, it is fantastic to have people on the show who actually know what they are talking about. Rob has raced in long and short events across the globe and has won races of all distances.
This week Robo recommends a charity raffle being run by the guys at Good Buzz Kombucha. Get your raffle tickets here: www.good.bz/tki Tim goes against this grain and tells the Think Fitters NOT to get the bike rack that he has some photos of on his Instagram. We also discuss an article of the 7 things not to eat before running.

Many people take up a sport because they want to lose weight. The problem is that they also often want to get results, PBs or go fast. The bad news is that the training to lose weight and training for performance are very different. We aren't saying you won't lose weight if you are training for performance just like you won't get better if you are training to lose weight. The problem is if you do not take the time to do them both properly there is a good chance you will lose motivation and give up at both.
This week we talk all about the differences between training for weight loss and training for performance. Things like different approaches to exercise and nutrition that may surprise you and may ultimately derail your goals if you neglect them. This episode was a lot of fun! We discuss two articles, the first that tells you where your weight goes when you lose it (it isn't to your enemies) and the second is whether your personality is making you fat.

This week we are extremely lucky to be joined by a truly remarkable woman who puts us both to shame! Jenna-Caer Seefried found her corporate life one of convenience where she spent too much time eating out and thinking about what she was going to eat next. Jenna experienced a moment where she realised that she had to make a change and has lost over 50 pounds to date! If that isn't enough to make you impressed, Jenna has also managed to win her age group at the World Long Course Championships in 2017!
We discuss how Jenna put on her weight, how she lost it. The role her husband played in supporting her weight loss and sporting ambitions. Jenna also discusses how becoming a mother has made her re-evaluate her goals and focus on living a healthy life to set a good example for her son. We discuss the challenges that Jenna faced along the way and whether hard work trumps talent. Jenna is an incredible woman and whether you are an athlete, in shape already or trying to get your health in line, you will find something in this week's episode!

Have you ever had the best intentions to eat well, go to the gym or go to bed early only to be peer pressured into doing something else instead? Chances are the answer is yes. Peer pressure is one of those inevitable things we deal with as humans. This week we discuss a new documentary on Netflix called 'The Push' which looks at just how far people can be peer pressured. This made us realise that we have both dealt with peer pressure after getting healthy. Have another drink, come out for dinner, skip the gym. These are all the sorts of requests people have that turn into expectations. This week we discuss how we deal with peer pressure and how we avoid giving in to what are realistically, the desired of others. Things like sticking to your guns, being forceful, explaining why you are doing what you are doing are just some of the tips we discuss.
We also have an exciting occurrence this week as we found out that Think Fit's favourite dietitian, Chloe McLeod is now writing articles for the enemy: Men's Health. In a new segment we dubbed, 'Tim & Mike learn how to read good' we bumble our way through two Men's Health articles. Did Chloe cross over the dark side or stick to her guns? Tune in to find out!
We recommend the new Mizuno Wave Knit and the TV series, Lucifer.

Netflix, Uber Eats, Virtual Reality, Driverless Cars! Technology is advancing at a scary rate and we have a world of convenience at our fingertips. We are making rapid advancements in health and technology that means we have the potential to live longer lives than ever before. But are these advancements making us fat? Are the very things that are designed to make life more convenient and safer actually making us more sedentary? This week we come to you live from the local conspiracy theory bunker with tinfoil hats on our heads as we ask the hard questions about whether we are making it harder to be healthy.
We discuss two articles about ways to get fit on a budget and health tips you will actually enjoy! Robo recommends the Peet Dryer: http://www.peetdryer.com and Tim recommends Marley Spoon: https://marleyspoon.com

FACT: Drastically changing your diet or increasing your exercise overnight is not going to lead to permanent, healthy weight loss. Instead, to successfully improve your health and lose weight you need to make many smaller changes. Some together and others over time. By making smaller changes you are going to not only see your weight go down, you are going to not see it go back up again! This week we give too many tips that you can add to your Think Fit tool box to ensure that your health remains a priority and you manage to get your weight under control.
We talk about things like ordering small food sizes or not buying pre-made food at all, ensuring your exercise is fun, adding foods rather than cutting foods out, stretching and we even manage to barely talk about sleeping or walking because by this point, they are fairly obvious. At some point we end up having a discussion about robbing banks. How we got onto that topic is still a mystery.
We discuss two articles, one about what slim people eat for breakfast and a hilarious article about the 6 types of people you see at a fun run.
Robo recommends seeing a professional when you get injured and Tim recommends the blog of one our listeners, specifically an article about Instagram accounts posting photos of half-naked women: https://kellyrunsandeats.wordpress.com

G'Day Legends! (Borrowed from this week's guest)
This week we are extremely lucky to be joined by Brett Robbo. Brett has a history in high performance sport both as an athlete himself and as a coach spending a lot of time working with both able bodied and para athletes. Working along side incredible people who have faced and overcome extreme obstacles has given Brett insight into how people can manage and overcome adversity. In addition, Brett has had his share of adversity too which saw him completely re-evaluate his approach to life and pursue a career in mental strength and helping others become the best versions of themselves.
This episode has something for absolutely everybody because quite literally, everyone faces challenges. We talk all about living your life in line with your core values, why it is important for people to create their own success and why it is important to accept that bad things happen but they don't need to limit your life. Brett also hosts his own amazing podcast which is linked below. We discuss an absolute doozie of an article about McDonalds fries curing baldness and for our recommendations, Robo talks about Brett's podcast and Tim shares a story about Matt from STeLF Cycling https://www.stelfcycling.com.

Everybody has their own reasons for getting in shape. Whether it's for their health, to look good at the beach or to fit into their wedding dress. All valid reasons and great sources of motivation. In addition, we all hear about what you can expect when you start. More energy, clothes don't fit anymore and better confidence. The benefits of getting in shape are well documented and often are one of the first things that people talk about when they recount their positive health change. But what about the side-effects that you don't expect? What about the changes you start to notice that are completely unexpected and surprisingly awesome! That's what we (mostly Robo) discus this week. We wanted to share our experiences of the positive changes we experience when we started training and exercising that we noticed that we did not expect. Maybe some of these benefits will surprise you and might even provide that missing piece of motivation to help you get into shape!
In addition to that red-hot content we discuss 5 Healthy Half-Time Snacks (not really healthy) and discuss 8 ways you can lose weight while sitting down (not really good.) We are also extremely excited to announce the winner of the Port Of Tauranga Entry Draw from the names of those people who used our Think Fit code when entering.

We all know to reach our goals we have to work at them. Whether it is lifting weights in the gym, changing our eating habits to lose weight. In fact, people are even becoming more and more aware of the importance of rest and recovery. Your mind plays an important part in this too and that is why it is important to spend time taking care of the muscle between your ears. This week we talk about the importance of taking care of yourself. We discuss, what things you can do for your own wellbeing including taking time for yourself, setting limits, learning to see your own value as well as your own limits. We then try to put some more tools in your Think Fit tool box and provide you with tips on how you can make sure you are taking care of yourself.
Self-care is incredibly important. It is also incredibly easy to forget about it when you are caught up in the routines of daily life. So do something good for yourself this week and download this episode, get comfortable and find out how you can take care of yourself!

At long last, Think Fit is finally going to reveal to the World the secret weight loss diet that has led to them losing nearly 100kg between the two of them! This diet is so secret that it is kept in a nuclear grade bunker with some of the most sophisticated security known to man! That security is the reason why it has been hidden from the World for so long. But no more...
In reality, this week we discuss our experiences with some of the diets we have tried while trying to lose weight and the how and why of why they didn't work. We then go into the nitty gritty of what we specifically did to our diets to successfully lose weight. We highlight the lessons we have learned through our own success and failure with diet as well as some of the lessons we have learned from previous guests on the show and how their approaches have now influenced our way of thinking. Fundamentally the take away from this episode is that there is no single right way and unfortunately you need to work out what works for you.
We discuss articles around cold weather exercise and terrible diet advice that dietitians have heard. Robo recommends the documentary, Stop at Nothing and Tim recommends running apparel from Mizuno.

Food has an amazing ability to bring us together. We celebrate the good times and the bad times while eating, drinking and being merry. But what happens when the emotional relationship with food turns bad? What happens when you find yourself turning to food to alter your emotional state? What about when you start eating and cannot stop yourself? These are real challenges faced by people on a daily basis. People can develop an unhealthy and emotional relationship with food that can lead to massive over eating and binge eating.
This week we are joined by dietitian and nutritionist, Lyndi Cohen. Lyndi had an unhealthy emotional relationship with food and struggled with her weight until she decided to make a change. Lyndi stopped dieting and focused on normalising her relationship with food and since then has lost over 20kg, kept it off and has launched the 'Keep it Real' program to help other people with their challenges.
We discuss how people form an emotional relationship with food, why people binge or over eat and some strategies to stop it from happening. Lyndi is a real expert and shares some incredible knowledge to help anybody who might struggle with self-control sometimes. Lyndi also answers some listener questions and gives a pass mark to an article dealing with recovering from post-binging.
We really recommend you check out Lyndi's website and social media for more information on everything she is doing, especially if you think this is something you struggle with.

So 2018 has been off to a rough start for the boys at Think Fit. Tim found out that a close family member has cancer and Robo, has fallen victim to a calf injury. But that is life and it must go on. So in a particularly relevant episode this week we discuss the tips and tricks to manage the curveballs that life throws at you. We focus heavily on the importance of keeping on top of your mental wellbeing, being flexible with your goals or resolutions and even talk about using any negative thoughts or emotions to keep driving you forward. We have a particularly nasty (seriously) article to discuss about the disgusting things we are eating without realising as well as a surprisingly educational article from Men's Health.
Robo shares an exciting announcement and surprises Tim with a question towards the end of the show. We also discuss some of the guests we have coming up in the next few weeks.
Tim recommends the podcast 'Dirty John' which can be found here:https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/dirty-john/id1272970334?mt=2 and Robo recommends a new swim program he is using called Swim Smooth: http://www.swimsmooth.com

How many times have you woken up on January 1 determined to make it a year of positive change? How often have you gotten to December 31 and ticked off all of those goals? We are guessing it isn't that often... So to celebrate the New Year we wanted to give you some strategies you can use when setting your goals to make sure that you stick to them and even more importantly, achieve them! These are fundamentally simple and are relevant to any sort of goal setting but include things like do research to understand what is required, be aware of the challenges you are likely to face along the way, set both larger and smaller goals and make sure you understand why you want to make the change. These strategies work whether you are setting goals for your New Year resolution or any goals throughout the year.
We discuss a extremely legitimate piece of research out of Harvard University (that is also possibly the funniest one yet) as well as a surprisingly good article from Men's Health. We also have another letter from a listener and discuss a podcast we were both on recently.

The drama of sport is one of the reasons we find it so compelling and the Iron War is one of the most dramatic. Two of the fittest men doing battle over a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike and 42.2km run. The 1989 Iron Man World Championships is considered one of the greatest races not only in triathlon but in the history of sport. This week we wanted to give our listeners a Christmas gift so we are recounting the story of Iron War. We go into the background of Mark Allen and Dave Scott, the sport of IronMan and then delve into the drama that unfolded that October day on the Hawaiian island of Kona.
You don't need to be a triathlete to enjoy this story of two gladiators of the sport battling it out in what many consider the closest race ever witnessed. We hope you enjoy our Christmas gift to you!

It's the most wonderful time of the year. Work is wrapping up, family come together from all over the world. There are parties, feasts and countless celebrations. It's a time of celebration where we are bombarded with temptations that might not always be the healthiest. It is also a time of year where people are already looking to the New Year to reset their health and fitness goals. But who said you need to let the festive season get the best of you? It is possible to celebrate and not completely derail your health and fitness goals. This week we look at some hints and tips to manage your Christmas work party and then we get into ways to not go overboard on Christmas Day. Nothing too complicated but instead we are looking at things like training first thing in the morning, using smaller plates and dividing it up into sections to ensure you get all the goodness you need. We also look at where to put your food and things you can do after the big day to avoid overdoing it for the days after Christmas too.
We look at an article about which Christmas foods are on the naughty and nice list and Robo finds a classic that claims a one hour bath is as effective as a brisk walk!

This week we are lucky to be joined by one of the biggest names in health and fitness in the world, Mr Vinnie Tortorich! Vinnie is the man behind the No Sugar, No Grains Lifestyle, author of Fitness Confidential and host of the incredibly popular Fitness Confidential Podcast. A celebrity trainer with over 30 years of experience, Vinnie takes a no bullshit approach to fitness and will tell you straight up why you aren't losing weight. Vinnie absolutely rips to shreds an article on how to lose weight without exercising. We then have a discussion about his approach to health and fitness. The big take away from the episode is that you cannot outrun a bad diet. As mentioned, Vinnie strongly encourages people to give up sugar and grains for health. We discuss why fitness has become so complicated and and how to make it less complicated. Not only does Vinnie have a lot to say, he is able to back it up with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Well worth listening to and we also highly recommend checking out his website, podcast and book.

Have you ever been scared, felt down, nervous, uncertain? Maybe even depressed or anxious? Well guess what! You are not alone. This week we are joined by Performance Psychologist, Brian Langsworth to delve into the power of the mind and just what sort of impact negative thoughts can have on your health and wellbeing. Brian explains a lot about why there is nothing wrong with experiencing difficult emotions and the role that getting active can play in overcoming them. We discuss some strategies to deal with these difficult emotions if you are dealing with them or know someone who is. We look at times when these difficult emotions can actually be a positive and how you can utilise them to get the best out of yourself. We also talk about why we spend so much time caring for our bodies yet often we neglect to take care of our minds as well. We look at how sport is able to help a person overcome these negative feelings whether it is a 10 minute walk or running a marathon. We also discuss the mental clarity people experience while exercising.
Brian shares his own experiences dealing with depression and relates it to Mike's story as well. There is some really great discussion in this episode and it really follows on well from Episode 23 where we discussed Robo's battle with depression.

Everyone faces challenges, obstacles and hurdles in all aspects of our lives. It is part of being human. This week we have an in-depth discussion about those people that motivated and helped us to overcome those challenges. We also then provide a number of tips for how you too can overcome any barriers you are facing. These might be challenges with your weight, your racing, your job or hey, even your study! Things like learning from your mistakes, being supportive, setting smaller goals and mapping out your path to success. We talk about some of the biggest hurdles we have and do face and apply these tips to them to show how they have helped us to overcome them. Ultimately, it is not the fact that we face struggles, it is how we deal with them that makes all the difference.
We go through one of the worst articles we have covered yet on the show and have a bit of a chat about the Western Sydney 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships!
We introduce the second winner of our Port of Tauranga Competition Winner, Stephen Wigmore as well.

It's very easy to think that more is always better. I am going to lose more weight if I train more. I will go faster if I run more. If I follow this new diet I will lose more weight? Well what if we told you that sometimes less is in fact better! This week we look at how keeping things simple and decreasing volume can help you to not only be healthier, but also go faster as an athlete too. We look at how many beginners overcomplicate their training in an effort to make significant improvements quickly. We discuss how extreme diets and constantly changing what you eat can in fact make losing weight harder. We also look at how this same approach can be applied to the workplace.
Tim has a big rant about the multiple articles people tagged in him this week which highlight just how terrible health and fitness reporting is and Robo laughs at him while doing it.

On this week's Think Fit we take a look back at some of the biggest challenges we faced when we started to get active. From feeling intimidated in the gym, having issues with clothing not fitting properly, sweating too much, getting injured or even just how bloody hard it was! Lucky for you, we learned a whole lot from going through that experience and we wanted to try and share some of the ways in which we were able to overcome it. Things like, checking your ego at the door or understanding your why were all things we did to get over the fear and insecurity we felt.
We test ourselves against a Men's Health Fitness Test (We both failed - no surprises there) as well as discuss 6 drinks that allegedly will help you lose weight (when one is a chocolate shake you have to wonder how reliable the information is!)
We also announce the winner of our Firefly Recovery giveaway!

You may see this week's title and think you are listening to a podcast from Men's Health or another equally rubbish fitness publication. But it is an often joked about phenomena. People get into a relationship and their weight can go up. This week we discuss why your weight can change once you enter into a relationship. We discuss why dating can be bad for your health and what it is about finding somebody to love that can see your waist line increase. But fear not! It isn't all doom and gloom because in a typical Think Fit twist, we turn it around and focus on how being in a relationship can be good for your health and why working as a team can lead to long term health for all parties!
We discuss the importance of push ups, an article about the five worst men's health and fitness tips (one of them is about shaving?) and answer a question about foods we hated when we were big that we love now!

Due to overwhelming demand we are lucky to be joined by Think Fit's favourite dietitian, Chloe McLeod. This week we talk with Chloe about how to overcome weight loss plateaus. Based on the number of requests we received to cover this topic, as well as our own experiences, it seems like this is something most people know about. Chloe talked about some simple tips to keep your weight loss going. The real advantage of having an actual expert on the show though, was that Chloe was able to advise how to do it in a safe way. Tim & Robo tried to contribute something to the show by talking about the non-diet tricks we use to overcome plateaus. We discuss foods that are perceived as unhealthy that are actually ok and also the foods which people think are unhealthy that might not be. There is a funny story about cauliflower and we go through the 25 funniest tweets about dieting.

One of our basic instincts is self preservation. We want to avoid putting ourselves in dangerous, awkward or embarrassing situations. This week we are here to tell you that you should fight that basic instinct and take a leap of faith. We both consider ourselves very optimistic and that glass half full approach to life has allowed us to achieve things we never thought we could. This week we share the times that we have decided to step outside of our comfort zone. We talk about the unexpected benefits that occurred and highlight just how much we have learned from our failures. We both believe that we were able to lose our weight and keep it off by pushing back against the voice in our heads that told us to avoid things. By doing things we didn't think we could allowed us to achieve things that we never would have thought possible. That's the thing though, anyone can do it! Ultimately, you never know if you don't try!

If you do anything for over 25 years there is a good chance you become pretty good at it! This week we are joined by one of the best trainers in Australia or anywhere! Andrew Read is a fitness professional based out of Melbourne who has worked as a trainer for a quarter of a century. During that time he has seen and heard just about everything! We discuss the biggest mistakes he sees people making when they want to get in shape and gives some tips for how every single person, regardless of their health or fitness levels can get into better shape.
We discuss some particularly bad fitness articles (we know because of how he reacted to them) and get the truth behind a lot of the claims inside. Andrew also gives us insight into how he has managed to stay in top shape well into his 40's and how he helps his clients to do the same!
