In this week’s episode, I delve into what is perhaps the number one challenge law firm owners face when they are attempting to transition from solo attorney to CEO of a law firm business, and that is cultivating a high-performing legal team.
Once we overcome the fear of hiring that first associate attorney—which is a huge obstacle in and of itself for most solos—we often are then faced with what it REALLY means to cultivate, train, and manage a multi-person legal team including attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrators.
The transition from a solo lawyer or boss of one or two staffers is drastically different from leading a legal team. And most law firm owners are not only NOT prepared for the transition, but also have no idea what’s coming.

In this week’s episode, I delve into what to do if you absolutely despise your practice area and it’s causing you to fantasize about walking out the door, moving to another state, and opening up an alpaca farm (or something like that) BUT you are worried if you dared to dream you will die broke and alone.
I get it. You’ve probably already built a lucrative practice, but is it really worth it if you dread getting out of bed and going to work every day? How much of your life are you willing to trade doing something you hate just for the money?
Listen in as I discuss leaving a practice area you hate and shifting to a new practice area, plus…

In today’s episode of the Wealthy Woman Lawyer® podcast, I cover a phenomenon I’ve discovered over the years as I’ve coached hundreds of lawyers in scaling their law firm businesses. I call it “January Panic.” It’s that feeling some people get in January—kind of like a holiday hangover—where they worry about cash flow, feel like money is tight, and start trying to “fix” financial problems without clearly thinking through the source of them first.
Often, it can result in taking actions like buying software you don’t need, buying a course to learn a new practice area in the hopes of making more money, or drastically pulling back on marketing initiatives (or implementing the wrong ones) out of fear.

Happy Q1 2024! In this week’s episode of the Wealthy Woman Lawyer® Podcast, I’m sharing with you the ONE THING keeping most law firm owners stuck at 6-figures (or less) in gross annual revenue, (and here’s a hint: it’s not a lack of strategy).
It’s not uncommon for women law firm owners to find me AFTER they’ve worked with other lawyer coaches and share stories of their disappointment in their lack of results, oftentimes after investing thousands in coaching. Although they sometimes struggle to pinpoint the issue, it soon becomes clear that it is NOT a lack of strategy.
Every law firm and lawyer coaching program has signature strategies that most likely work for the vast majority of their clients. Still, a few feel like the strategy did not, and will not, work for them.
If that’s you, then listen up because I’m going to let you in on a little secret that will change everything. After listening to this short podcast episode, you’ll know exactly what you need to do next to get the results you see others achieve—the ones you desire for yourself.

Nikki Rausch, CEO of Sales Maven, teaches professional women to have better and more effective sales conversations in a way that feels good to them. Nikki has more than 25 years of sales experience, including to organizations such as The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Hewlett-Packard, and NASA. Over time, she also developed an extensive background in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) which helped her shatter sales records across a variety of industries. Working as a sales rep in a male-dominated industry, Nikki was never comfortable with traditional sales training. This led her to explore how to have more influential conversations with potential clients in a way that better suited her personality and style. Now, she helps others do the same through her coaching services and presentations. She also has written three books and is the host of the podcast Sales Maven.
If you struggle to conduct effective sales conversations or just feel “icky” about the thought of selling your services, this episode is for you. During our conversation, Nikki shares impactful tools to help women lawyers conduct better sales conversations–ones that effectively onboard clients and leave everyone feeling good.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day. However, we don’t always know how to use the hours we have. Some people seem to be able to accomplish more and be less stressed, while others struggle and get nothing done. The secret is to decide what your vision for your life is and make sure that your system and time management strategies tie into that vision.
In this episode, I have a conversation with Dominika Fasolo. Dominika is a lawyer turned productivity coach who helps women business owners improve their productivity and get real with themselves on how they’re spending their time. She shares how she went about her career change and tips to increase productivity without becoming a workaholic. We also talk about how self-care may not actually be self-care.

Getting a handle on your business financials can be tricky--especially if you hate doing the math. Hiring a fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) could be the secret sauce you need to take your business up another notch.
In this episode of Wealthy Woman Lawyer®, Davina speaks with guest Danielle Hendon, founder and CEO of 4 Corners CFO. Danielle is a Texas-based CPA who thrives on applying big-business financial concepts to growing small businesses while increasing their livelihoods and legacies. With more than a decade of experience in corporate finance and accounting, today she specializes in working as a fractional CFO for law firms.
Davina and Danielle dive into the details of law practice financials and why they’re often so messy. Danielle breaks down how to understand a cash flow statement, the reason for creating a business budget, and how you could be undervaluing yourself by charging flat fees.
