With us on the show is Jacque Tinker, a friend of mine who raises Australian Shepherds and competes in the dog sports of herding and tracking. She lives in Texas with her husband and 6 Aussies, 23 chickens and 10 sheep!

Jacque and her dogs love going out into nature and running tracks. It is relaxing and great exercise. She started participating in tracking tests about 3 years ago and loves the camaraderie of the sport. She’s going to enlighten us on why this is such a great activity for you and your dog.

We’ll also share some of the latest research about a dog’s sense of smell.

Here are some questions we’ll cover:

What is tracking?

Can any dog enter?

Do all dogs pass the test?

How do you teach a dog to track and at what age?

What articles/equipment do you need?

Jacque’s FB page: Australian Shepherd Tracking Group

Jacque suggested these items:

Long line

Harness

Stella and Chewy treats

Thanks for Listening!
