Grueling schedules, late night studio sessions, cheap eats, and "fine" spirits has led to a lot of health problems for many artists within the music industry. On this week’s episode we discuss the impact of veganism within the hip hop community with plant-based celebrity chef, author, and wellness influencer Chef Ahki. Chef Ahki has cooked for many musical artists and is a pioneer of the Electric Food Movement which encourages its followers to eat non hybrid, wild, and alkaline foods. Her mission is to help others live a healthy lifestyle by "cooking to cure". During our discussion, Chef Ahki talks about veganism within music and how this important evolution promotes holistic activism. She even made a cameo in the music video for the viral hit "Vegan Thanksgiving" by Grey, who happens to be a vegan rapper.
Growing up in Oklahoma before moving to Texas (she is now based in Atlanta), Chef Ahki speaks on her Midwestern upbringing and how the family garden influenced her relationship with food. We also talk keeping supportive friends close, the best ways to transition to a vegan lifestyle, and how the chef used to sing back up for Miss Lauryn Hill! She has definitely lived a electric life. To find out more about veganism and the hip hop movement, take a listen to the episode. It is a treat for your ears.
