The Lyde family is a family of giant hearts and easy, bright smiles. Ted Lyde is the father in this family. He’s an accomplished actor and comedian, with two extraordinary kids - wildly gifted daughter Grace, about to graduate from college and Jackson, his special needs son with the brightest of the family’s smiles.
Ted started his podcast, LEARNING NOT TO SWEAR, to talk to people about thriving in spite of life’s curve balls and stressors, most immediately at the time in being a dad of a special needs son and how he wrestled with all the pictures of how life should be in his own “Ted” mind.
Always hilarious and inspiring, Ted is currently in the middle of a health crisis that is definitely a curve ball he wishes he didn’t have to deal with. We learn about dealing with the struggles of waiting for a new kidney and flatlining – twice – as his body struggles. He talks about how he is dealing with all of it, and at the end we hear from his scientist wife Jaime (whom Ted always says “ruined” him with all the love she brings into his life) on how it is to support someone in this kind of a crisis, how she manages overcoming the day-to-day stressors, Ted flatlining, and keeping their beautiful family on track – and, of course, the Big Bang Theory and how it relates to Ted!
