[00:04:38] Women wanting to be saved.
[00:09:28] Being mentally lazy.
[00:13:39] Do this one thing right now.
[00:16:59] Your opinion matters the most.
Quotes:
I am loving learning all the things about color and scale. And it's very similar to styling yourself. It's just taking a lot of those same principles and applying them to your home.
I was thinking about why is it that we don't value our own opinion. Why is it that we ask other people their opinion and value it over our own? And I'm really curious about what you think. What is your opinion about this?
And we began to just be a sponge for everybody else's opinions without being encouraged to come up with our own. And that is exactly why when clients come to me and they'll ask me a question, I will be like, I don't know, you tell me, what do you think?

"Overcome the Fear of Being Seen: A Guide to Embodying Your Queen Energy".
SUMMARY
Tonya Leigh is a master life coach and the host of the School of Self-Image podcast. In this episode, she is discussing the importance of having the courage to be seen.
Courage is an important quality to cultivate in order to be successful in life. This is why self-image work is so important. It involves seeing yourself as worthy, capable and deserving, and then having the courage to back this up with action. This is why the School of Self-Image is offering a five day workshop, where participants will learn valuable things and will be taught in a new way. It's a great opportunity to bring friends, family and confidants along. During the episode, Ambrose Red Moon's quote about courage is discussed, which states that courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear. This is a useful reminder when it comes to overcoming the fear of being seen, which is a common fear for many people.
In this conversation, Tonya discusses the fear of being seen and the reasons why people may be afraid of this. The fear of judgement, rejection, and failure, as well as cultural norms and trauma that may have been experienced when being seen. Tonya also talks about how the majority of the world is actually rooting for people to be seen, and encourages them to take up space and express themselves. The key takeaway from this conversation is that although it may be scary to be seen, it is worth it to live a full, authentic and bold life.
What We Cover in This Episode:
0:00:00 Stepping Into Your Queen Energy
0:01:50 Overcoming the Fear of Being Seen
0:04:27 Self-Discovery and Awareness
0:06:12 Overcoming Fear and Embracing Your Authentic Self
0:13:23 Reflections on Courage and Self-Judgment
0:15:48 Fear of Being Judged: How to Embrace Courage and Reach Extraordinary Goals"
0:17:39 A Challenge for the Week
Quotes:
Would you rather be like the person who's on stage giving it their all or the person up in the stands criticizing?
Because, let's face it, if you've been fearing being seen for years, maybe even decades, it's not going to go away overnight.
A big life requires that you feel big emotions. So this means that the courage to be seen is not about not fearing it.
To me, the other reason why you may be afraid of being seen is because of cultural norms.
It's a lot of self discovery and awareness and overcoming fear. And one of the common fears that I see when women start to dress differently is that they're so afraid of getting attention because their entire lives, they've dressed to avoid that attention, because attention is scary.
I'm talking about being seen for who you are. Have you ever had that person in your life who just sees you? You know that they see who you really are, and there's so much love and celebration and acceptance of that. It's a beautiful thing.

"Unleash Your Inner Queen: 3 Crown Jewels of Queen Energy"
SUMMARY
In this episode, Tonya Leigh discusses the three crown jewels of Queen Energy - ways of being and attitudes that create Queen energy. The first crown jewel is taking commitments to oneself seriously. The second crown jewel is self-care. The third crown jewel is that of an attitude of acceptance.
A queen is someone who takes their commitments to themselves seriously and does not shy away from the discomfort of making changes in order to become a powerful leader of their own life. A queen also has a 'red velvet rope'; they know how to set boundaries and limit access to their life. This can mean saying no to people and events they don't want to participate in. A queen is someone who sets high standards for themselves and respects their own needs and wants. They understand that in order to achieve their goals, they must make sacrifices and push through the discomfort of change.
This conversation is about why it is important to set boundaries for yourself in order to be the queen of your life.

0:04:05 Building Trust with Yourself
0:07:48 Becoming a Queen: Crown Jewels 1 & 2

0:17:12 Accepting Yourself: A Conversation on How to Embrace Your Humanness and Move Forward in Life
0:20:30 "The Three Jewels of Queen Energy: Taking Commitments to Yourself Seriously, Creating Boundaries, and Accepting Yourself Fully"
Quotes:
We have to be willing to have our own backs. And to me, that is the epitome of Queen Energy.
A queen takes her commitments to herself seriously.
Anything that you do that's unfamiliar is difficult. In the beginning, our brain wants to fight the unfamiliar because the brain doesn't trust it. And so part of being a queen, and this is not even one of the crown jewels, but it encompasses all of this, is that you must be willing to feel discomfort in order to change and step up and be the powerful leader of your own life. So that is crown jewel number one.
And every time you make a commitment to yourself and you don't show up for it, you are breaking trust with yourself.

"Fostering a Positive Public Image Through Developing Self-Image"
SUMMARY
In this episode, host Tonya Leigh discusses the importance of self-image over public image. She is recording from a destination location she has dreamed of visiting for 15 years: The Maldives.
Between snorkeling in an aquarium-like environment every day and playing pickleball with her friends, Tonya is unplugging from technology to enjoy the moment and treat herself like a queen. Inspired and rested, Tonya will be hosting a five-day workshop soon called the Royal Treatment. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.
So what’s the difference between self-image and public image? Aligning the two can create extraordinary results. Self-image refers to how a person perceives and sees themselves, including their thoughts, appearance, personality, and capabilities. Public image, on the other hand, is related to how one is perceived by the external world and is shaped by one's self-image.
This conversation explores self-image, the mental picture you have of yourself, and includes your strengths, weaknesses, and personal characteristics. This is shaped by your experiences, beliefs, and values. Tonya also explores public image, how other people perceive you, and is shaped by your behaviors, actions, and interactions. Although both are important, without a strong self-image, true happiness, and well-being can't be achieved. When working on your public image, it is important to do it in service of who you are becoming, not just to impress others. Doing this work in service of yourself, focusing on your self-image first, will have a positive impact on your public image.
What we cover in this episode:
0:00:00 Guess where I am?
0:01:06 Dreaming of the Maldives and Experiencing the Royal Treatment
0:03:17 Exploring the Difference Between Self Image and Public Image
0:11:44 The Impact of Positive Self Image on Public Image
0:13:43 Aligning Your Self Image with Your Public Image
Quotes:
Without a positive self-image, you are going to suffer. It doesn't matter how great your public image is. If how you see yourself isn't compassionate and loving and kind and positive, it is going to impact your sense of well being, which is why we always have to bring it back to how we see ourselves.
It's so hard to keep up a positive public image when your self-image is so negative.
It's hard to create what you want unless you're willing to change your self-image to allow for that result. So I will always vote for self-image as being more important than public image.
Your public image, on the other hand, refers to how other people perceive you as an individual. It's the external representation that you want to present to others and it's the story that other people have about you and it is shaped by your behaviors, your actions, and the way you interact with other people.

Your home is a reflection of the stage or even the state of mind you are in.
Welcome to today’s episode of the ‘School of Self-Image’ Podcast with host and self-image coach, Tonya Leigh, where personal development meets style. This is a go-to podcast for women who desire to transform their self-image so that they can create mind-blowing results in their lives.
Do you agree that your home is a reflection of who you are? Because I strongly believe that your home represents and reveals so much about a person, even their personality. The way you decorate your home, the colors you choose, and the furnishings you choose based on your preferences, speak volumes about you. The things you display such as photographs or mementos that connect to your values and beliefs show what is most important to you. And what about your experiences? Do you travel? Do you cherish those memories and places? Anyone who enters your home will know this instantly depending on what they see. Is your home calm, cluttered, busy, or colorful? What does your home reveal about you?
Over the years of moving from one place to another, I've had so many where I have learned so much about someone just by living for a time in their space. Your home is part of your self-image, even without you knowing it. If you’re curious to know more about what your home reveals about you, head over and listen to this week’s episode!
What I Cover In This Episode:
0:00 - Intro
1:21 - Tips for getting things done
2:15 - What does ‘home mean to you’?
6:05 - How is Tonya Leigh living her life?
10:44 - What is your home saying about you?
14:14 - My top 4 values
15:38 - What is your version of your own ‘ideal wealthy home’?
21:44 - How to be a woman for the future?
23:23 - Reasons why your home is a great reflection of who you are
Quotes:
“I often say your inner world creates your outer world. So, how you think and feel impacts the choices that you make, and those choices create results equal to your outer world. Everything that's around your environment, your home, the people you hang out with impact your inner world.”
“I'm a big advocate of changing your outer world to help you change your inner one. One of the ways that we can do that is to focus on elevating, transforming, and possibly even changing our home ~ the place that we live because our home reveals so much about us.”
“When we're looking at our homes, it tells a big meta-story about us. It can tell us our fears. It can tell us about our darkest secrets. It can tell us about our personality, and our dreams. Our house can reveal so much. It also offers us a snapshot of what's going on within us at this moment.”
“I look around at the things that I've chosen to have. Over the next year as we live here, it's actually really telling. That's the beauty of a home. It will reveal to you what's important. It will reveal to you what your values are. It will reveal to you maybe even your dreams and your fears.”
“No matter the state of your home right now, you are an amazing, beautiful woman. So what your home is revealing about you is simply your thought and about your environment, because at the end of the day, that's our whole experience, what we think about everything.”

Overcome Superwoman Syndrome: Prioritize, Say No and Get Help
SUMMARY
This episode is dedicated to all the superwomen out there who are trying to do it all and be it all. Host Tonya Leigh explains how many women find themselves in the predicament of trying to fulfill multiple roles such as being a career woman, mother, wife, friend, daughter and more while also trying to maintain high standards in each role. This is referred to as the Superwoman Syndrome, a term coined in the 1980s by Dr. Marjorie Hansen Chavez in her book The Superwoman Syndrome. Women may feel guilty or ashamed if they cannot meet their own expectations and feel like they need to do and be everything to everyone.
The Superwoman Syndrome is a condition which leads to burnout, stress, and other negative health outcomes. People afflicted with the syndrome are not prioritizing their self care, playing, or resting, as they are too busy trying to live up to the expectations of others. To get out of the toxic cycle of the Superwoman Syndrome, one must understand the root of the fear and deal with it.
Additionally, they must be willing to say no to things that are not important to them in order to help them focus on their most important priorities. Finally, they must acknowledge that this may mean disappointing some people, but it is necessary in order to take control of one's life.
Here is what we cover in this episode:
0:00:00 Exploring the Superwoman Syndrome: A Conversation with Self-Image Coach Tonya Leigh
0:02:54 Understanding the Causes and Consequences of Superwoman Syndrome
0:04:34 Facing the Fear of Not Being Good Enough

0:13:37 Self Care, Saying No, and Being Imperfect
0:15:38 Tips for Entrepreneurs
0:17:57 The Benefits of Hiring Help: Taking Advantage of Available Resources
Quotes:
There's a thing where you can get a dog sitter. There are all these amazing apps with help at your fingertips, and yet a lot of you refuse to take advantage of it. Why? Why aren't you getting the help that you need?
To overcome superwoman syndrome, you're going to have to be willing to be imperfect and to realize that it's a beautiful thing. Because that means you've accepted yourself as you are. And you're showing up in your most expansive self. And expansive does not mean perfect. Expansive means true.
I'm not good enough, and I'm afraid of being found out. So let me put on this facade and pretend that I am perfect. This is what superwomen do.
Even when you make mistakes, even when you fail, even when it's not all buttoned up and buttoned up and tidy, you're still extraordinary. You're still amazing.
Let me tell you all, resentment is a telltale sign that you may be suffering from Superwoman Syndrome. So pay attention if you're feeling resentful or angry or frustrated on a daily basis. Those are three emotions that often indicate that you have this syndrome.

Summary:
What is your minimum style standard? If you don’t know yet, this is the perfect episode ofor you. Setting a standard for yourself in so many areas of your life is important, including your style standard. Maybe it is lip gloss and mascara before leaving the house, or never wearing sweats. One of mine is, spoiler alert, hoodies. Hoodies are great and many women can really rock a great hoodie. But they just are not my style nor part of my style standard.
Style standards vary widely depending on a number of factors such as cultural norms, personal preferences, and current fashion trends. But your everyday style standard is focused on your expression of YOU. Styling what you wear helps boost confidence and a positive self-image. You want someone to see you, and your style, and know it expresses your unique authentic self. This is the very reason why I emphasize style and I advocate it.
If you’re curious to know more about how you can start elevating your style standards, be sure to check out The Style Experience with me while you listen to this week’s episode!

9:27 - How style is essential in boosting your confidence and self-respect
12:09 - Reasons why you should consider having your style standards
15:53 - How to define your purpose
Quotes:
“We can use our style and our environment to help us create new feelings. Which is why I'm an advocate of changing our environments. I'm an advocate of changing our style. I'm an advocate of taking action to shake things up. Because it gives you new perspectives. It allows you to access new thoughts. And it's a quick and easy way to shift the energy at the moment.”
“Do you have a set of operating principles that you live by that make it easy to make decisions in terms of how you dress, how you carry yourself, or how you communicate? These sets of operating principles also help you to see yourself in a way that serves you. They help you to elevate your self-image.”
“What my standard is may not be your standard. That's the point of style. Style is to be original to figure out who you want to be and to express that on purpose.”
“So stop being lazy, stop looking like a bum, let's get up, get dressed, and put our best self out to the world. But more importantly, put your best self out there for you.
“You can have one outfit, one pair of shoes, one statement necklace, one bold red lip, one haircut, one pantsuit, one pair of jeans, one jacket, but literally can change your life.”

Uncovering The ROI Of Style
In this episode of School of Self-Image, host and Self-Image Coach Tonya Leigh, shares insights about the return on investment (ROI) of style. She shares how she has noticed improvements in her physical and mental health since moving to a new environment and how her friend has seen a tenfold increase in her business as a result of investing in style.
Instead of spending a lot of money on expensive clothing to appear wealthy, the ROI of true style is emotional. It will make the wearer feel abundant, confident, powerful, and great in their own skin. The conversation also discusses how investing in designer items, such as a handbag, can help change the wearer's self-image. It can provide evidence for what they want to believe about themselves and be life-changing. The speaker suggests that action alone isn't enough and that the action needs to be taken with purpose in order to change thoughts about oneself. Finally, the conversation wraps up by discussing how feeling better, more confident, and more empowered will also have an emotional ROI.

The ROI of style also impacts your first impressions and making a great first impression matters.
So the emotional return on not only discovering your style, because that is a sign that you've taken the time to get to know yourself, that you know what you love and what you don't love, but also how you feel when you put an effort.

"Dress to Attract: Using Style to Influence Your Life Trajectory"
SUMMARY
In this episode of the School of Self Image, host Tonya Lee reports good news for those who have been following her moving drama. Her things arrived and she is grateful. She shares how her mind can work in funny ways, as she was worried she was scammed after reading forums about people who had been scammed by movers. She encourages her community to focus on what they want and not take on other people's stories to avoid being a mess. In the end, her things arrived, in their completeness.
Tonya Leigg recently took on a six-month no shopping challenge and it was inspired by her realization that often when people make more money, they spin out of control and fill their lives with more and more things. She found that what people are really after is a feeling and that buying things does not necessarily create those feelings. She created a Style Experience program to help women get clear on what they want and how they want to show up in the world. In the program, they will engage in virtual style days, coaching calls, and the Style Lounge where the speaker will provide feedback and inspiration.
Tonya discusses the importance of clothing and the effect that it can have on how one views themselves and how others see them. Everything is energy, and one's clothes are no different. According to the Law of Attraction, people will be attracted to those with similar dress styles. The speaker used to dress in scrubs and sweatpants to hide her body, but she changed when she discovered the Style Experience, which is a luxurious experience that helps people discover their unique style and how to express it.

HIGHLIGHTS
I was recently on a podcast with my friend Stacey Bayman. She has a great podcast called Make Money as a Life Coach, and she brought me on to talk about the effective style in our lives. And she was sharing about when she needs to write copy for a sales page or for her programs. She will get dressed up to the nines, because the energy that she feels can be felt, in her words, because everything's energy, you all it's all connected.
There's a term called enclosed cognition, and basically it's a psychological phenomenon that looks at the effects of clothing on your mental and emotional processes. And they've done studies, one being that they put students in a lab coat and compared their grades with students who weren't in a lab coat. And the students in the lab coat scored higher on the test. And it's because the association of a lab coat symbolizes intelligence, power, confidence, and how that impacts how you think.
And the same goes for clothes. Your clothes have an energy that impacts how you see yourself. And so on one level, those clothes are calling forth an action from you. And at the same time, it's attracting opportunities and people that are attracted to that energy. So at the end of the day, the clothes impact your energy. They impact how you see yourself, but also it's impacting how other people see you.
So come and join us at the Style Experience. You can go to schoolofselfimage.com/styleexperience and check out all of the details. So today I have a question for you. What are your clothes attracting? And I want you to sit with that question for a moment and really think about it. Because everything is energy. Everything is attracting certain things to it. It's why certain people gather in certain places. There is an energy there that calls like energy towards it.
We're going to be having virtual style days along with coaching calls. We're going to have the Style Lounge, where I'm giving feedback around style and sharing stylish inspiration. And so if you have not checked this out, it's going to be a very high end, luxurious experience where you are going to elevate how you show up in the world. And you are going to discover your unique style and how to express that, not only in how you dress, but in how you carry yourself and what you choose.
