When striking a deal with a creature that wants to help, the most important thing is to know what you and it can both offer each other. If, for example, you can offer your friend to be eaten instead of yourself and, for example, the creature counters with the confidence that it can eat both you and said friend, coming to a compromise is going to be a bit tricky when in reality all you can truly offer it is a slightly faster moving meal.

Humanity is great at one thing above all: storytelling. We don’t have the sharpest claws, our teeth don’t tear into flesh the same way as, say, a bears does nor can we stalk our victims quite as well. There are creatures out there better at running, climbing, swimming, swarming and so much more. But we can follow a story. And what is tracking if not a simple story? You wound your victim, it runs off and you follow their blood drops like bread crumbs on a trail. It’s simple. But nothing can truly ever prepare you for what comes next at the end of the trail in the Lonely Tower.
