Hey everyone, I hope you're having an amazing day! I wanna share with you, a topic that has been coming up with a number of my clients, in private coaching sessions. It's also something which has come up in my business, a number of times over the years, as well. In fact, it happened just the other day.
I recently signed up to a program, and it's not related to business it's actually related to mindfulness and growing within. It's a great program, that went for a couple of weeks. At the end of it, there was an option to do a followup program and work with this coach directly. Afterwards I thought, "Wow, this is really cool." And then I thought, "Is this really the next level that I need?" Because truth be told, I was happy with the progress I made. I kinda wanted to go to the next level more from an ego perspective.
I wanted to graduate and do the next thing, because that's just my background.
Then I really checked in with myself, and I thought, "Okay, well, A, the time zones that she coaches in don't work or me. It's gonna be really early in my morning and I'm not a morning person. That side of things is gonna make it really difficult. And B, I've just been opened up to this concept she was presenting.
Even though I've been into personal development and mindfulness, and these things for a number of years, her unique take on it, is a little bit different. And so I thought, "Mm, why don't I just sit with the content that I have? She has a book and I'm reading it. If in the future, I feel like I need to do more, I could work with her privately and she also has another online group course that I could take.
But, do I need to do it right away? Is there an urgency factor? Am I missing out, by not doing it right away? I asked myself that question, and I realized, no I wasn't. I was very happy with the pace that I'd gone. As I was going through this process of asking myself these questions I was very mindful of holding myself accountable.
"Am I backing out of something? Am I not stepping up and not stepping forward? Am I gonna miss out on something which is gonna completely change my life, and everything for the better?"
No.
I think ultimately, you know, before you sign up for any program, work with any coach, you need to sit with yourself. Because you're the one, ultimately, who has to commit to showing up, and you're gonna have to be doing work, and you have to make sure that you're fully able and willing to commit to that transformation.
And I wasn't. So I said, "No." But I'm still going through the program, and reading her book, and I very well may take the next step, sometime in the future. So, if you're considering taking a course, or working with a coach, that's a really important question to ask yourself.
"Am I fully ready to commit to what I need to do, in the next three months, two months, six months, to get that transformation? And if I don't commit now, what are the downsides?"
When I looked at it, I couldn't see any real downsides of me not committing now, versus potentially committing again in the future. Because I am happy with the progress I've made in this area of my life, and I don't feel the need to go super deep, really quickly right now.
With other things I have going on in my life in business, I felt like getting up at 5 AM to do coaching calls, wouldn't really be of service to me. But I really sat with that, and I thought, "Okay, well, what is the cost benefit of doing it now, versus doing it later? If at all." And so really sit with that.
So, when is it a good time to hire a coach?
Something that I really like to do on discovery sessions is get the potential client to think about where they are now and what steps they can take to move in the direction of there goals. It's a great question to gauge commitment. Because if you're saying you want clients and you wanna make a change, how are you gonna feel in three months time, if you haven't already made that change?
And sometimes the client, you know, they might be saying they really wanna have clients, but they're like, "Oh actually you know what, I do want clients, but the next three months, I'm really busy, and I'm not gonna be able to commit to it. So, it actually wouldn't make sense for me to commit now, because I would end up committing and paying for something, that I can't take action on right away."
Commitment level is super important, so check in with yourself around that. A question that often comes up is, "Well, shouldn't I try to do this myself, for say, six months? And then if I don't have success with it, then I could maybe sign up, and work with you if I've tried to do it myself, and I haven't gotten results." Now this is a really interesting question, because how long are you going to wait, until you see some type of results?
I would say, typically, if you have had a goal in your mind for say, a week, and you aren't taking strides towards making it a reality. Say, you're saying, "Okay, well yeah, I wanna be fully booked with clients." but you've been thinking about it for a week and haven't actually done anything to get closer to that goal, you're not taking action, you're not moving forward. If that's the case, and it's been a week, in my personal experience, things probably aren't gonna shift that much, from a week, to a month, to six months, to a year.
Sure, you probably do little things, maybe watch a few trainings, you might try a few things here or there. But, typically, if you were the type of person who would just do it themselves and get results, once you've had the idea and you've thought about it, you have already taken massive action, to make that goal happen.
For example, I have a friend, she is really into working out, she's super fit. She would never hire a personal trainer, 'cause she will have the realization, "Oh, I wanna have more defined abs," and then she'll be at the gym that afternoon, doing a routine, to get more defined abs. So, she doesn't need a personal trainer, 'cause she's actually already living it.
So, the chances are, if you're thinking, "Well, do I need support in this area?" If you're thinking about it, and you don't yet have the result that you want in your business, and you're not making the strides towards that result, chances are the answer is, "Yes."
And having support would fast track the process and all-in-all, just make it a more fun and enjoyable process, as you grow your business, or make whatever change you wanna make. This applies, not just in business scenarios, really in any area of your life.
The final reason, to look at hiring a coach, is if you need accountability. Now, you might think, "Well, can I get accountability from my mom, or best friend, or dog (I don't know how a dog would give you accountability, but, you know) or maybe even an app.
Potentially.
But what is the app, the dog, the best friends, the mom, your sister gonna say, if you're not actually following through? This is where having a coach who can actually coach you when you're getting stuck, when you're not hitting your goals, and work at, "Okay, well is there a limiting belief? Is there a block? Is there something we need to work through, in order for you to achieve results, that you wanna achieve?"
That is one of the main reasons, that with inside our programs, we have a big focus on accountability, and we give you one-on-one coaching sessions. Because we find that, without one-on-one coaching, it is very easy to fall off track and to go through information, which you may not know how to apply it exactly to your unique business. Then you get overwhelmed, you get confused, and then you don't make progress.
So, if you are the type of person who has been saying, "Okay, I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do this." And you set mini goals, maybe on a week or a monthly basis, but you're not hitting those goals, having a coach to hold you accountable to those goals, is gonna be really powerful.
Because unlike just telling a best friend or even a partner that, "Hey, I'm gonna do this by Sunday." If you don't do it by Sunday, in the next coaching session, the coach is gonna say, "Okay, well why was that? Why didn't you do it by Sunday? Do you need help with managing your schedule? Are you not doing what you say you're gonna do, 'cause you're worried about being judged? Or what's the underlying cause of this reason?" 'Cause it typically goes deeper than, just not being able to find the time.
I hope you found this useful, and you can, of course, apply this, if you're considering joining any program. But also, as you're doing discovery sessions as well, 'cause the potential client, is likely thinking this in the back of their minds. So, if you could think of it from their perspective, and really be able to help you, to overcome some of the objections that come up.
You're gonna find that, A, you're gonna be of best service to that client, 'cause you're guiding them, and you're showing them, "Okay, well, this really would serve you." If the program is in their best interest, and you know you can help them, it really is your responsibility, to help them to see that, this is the choice for them, and this is gonna help them, to step into what it is they want, in their life and business.

When I say the word brand, what pops into your mind? What do you associate the word with? Your logo? Your font choices? The colour scheme you chose meticulously?! There’s still quite a lot of confusion surrounding community management and what the role entails. That’s why this week on It Girl Radio, I’m bringing in community engagement consultant to A-list entrepreneurs Diana Tower to clear things up.
Joining me in this week’s workshop-style podcast is an expert on community management, who has worked with a handful of heavy hitters in the business world, including Selena Soo, our very first guest on the podcast.
Diana will be teaching us how to build and manage an engaged online community. We will also be learning the best practices for addressing potentially brand-damaging problems.
Much of the confusion in community management revolves around the role of the manager. Many believe that the job only involves handling the negative issues that pop up in the community. That is not true at all.
The manager also creates engagement posts, anything that the members value and that can get them to connect with each other. Getting the community to engage, according to Diana, is the primary role of the manager.
Perhaps the most important advice that she gave was to set clear and well-defined guidelines before starting a community. This way, members know when they are overstepping boundaries. It also makes it easier for you, and even less awkward, when you’re informing a member about their unacceptable behaviour.
In such cases, Diana believes that it’s best if managers keep the posts or the thread visible to the entire community. Deleting it would only make people question what the brand is doing to address the issue.

During this tumultuous time, Sarah and her husband began to feel a strong desire to start a family. Sarah always had a clear vision of, not only making an impact, but being a mother. There was a new sense of importance and urgency as Sarah experienced some unfortunate health problems.
Also, during this time, Sarah really began to think about adjusting her lifestyle. She could see her current lifestyle was not conducive to the part of her vision that included having a family. She wanted to find a path for herself, and other women, to be able to have a creative, meaningful outlet, and spend energy on a family.
Sarah hit rock bottom was when she had six grand mal seizures the week before her son was born. I can only imagine being is Sarah’s position; having a newborn baby and not having the ability to care for him.
During her maternity leave, Sarah and her husband knew everything had to change. They moved cities, began focusing on health and added a support system to their life. This was the beginning of a new chapter.
Sarah did return to work after maternity leave, but knew in her heart she was destined to spend her time and energy helping women “have it all”. She wanted to find a way to help women balance dynamic lives as mothers and entrepreneurs.
Sarah felt a great sense of freedom and empowerment as she finished her time in the the corporate world and established her own business. Sarah had great leadership skills and was progressively able to build a business that reflected her vision. Today, we are lucky enough to get some incredible advice from a woman who has found a way to “have it all”.
Some of the most passionate advice Sarah gives about being a leader is to have a deep personal responsibility for ourselves. We must show up as our whole selves and be congruent before we can move to managing a team successfully.
I also love Sarah’s advice on transforming the way we think. Sarah recommends “thinking like a CEO”. This means having a mindset to take responsibility for an entire company.
Another key aspect of building a business and leading is proactively designing your team to support your mission. There is a lot to be said about spending time determining the type of person you want to hire. It’s important to spend time deciding how that person will add to your vision and contribute to the business as a whole.
Sarah stresses the need for leaders to know their vision and continually share that vision with their internal team. This is something that should always be clear to the people you are relying on to help build a legacy.

Last week, I mentioned some new funnels we’ve been exploring. We’ve had a really positive experience with Facebook Messenger Bots, and I wanted to share how we have been using bots in my business to attract clients.

A Facebook Bot is a bot attached to your Facebook account. The bot sends predefined messages to clients and prospects. The bots provide a way to initiate conversation with customers, and possible new customers.
Bots communicate using short, direct messages. The goal is to keep the messages pointed and engaging. With this technique, about 90% of messages get opened. Another facet to this technique is letting the reader “choose their own adventure.” This means the bot asks short questions to determine what could be most valuable to the reader.
As the reader responds you get micro conversions creating a connection with them. With such rapid responses the reader doesn’t have a chance to disengage. Micro conversions also create an opportunity for readers to opt into lead magnets or webinars.
Faiz shares commonly made mistakes and how to avoid them. He also explains some really cool options for tailoring messages and tuning into keywords, comments, and sequencing messages.
I know a Facebook Bot may seem a little intimidating, but it really is simple and can have a major impact on your business.

Adrienne started her business two years ago when she was at a corporate job and felt creatively suffocated. She felt like her role was in friction with her values. While she was being paid a “good” salary, she wasn't as effective as she wanted to be; she knew there was more she could offer.

Kendrick became an entrepreneur through a little bit of luck, a little bit of trust, and a huge gamble. After graduating from university, she was the top-selling pharmaceutical sales rep at three Fortune 500 companies!
One night when she was rocking her daughter to sleep, it hit her that the mantras she was telling her daughter were a load of crap - because she wasn't living them herself. She went on a mission to find out what she wanted to do with her life, quit her job, and hired an executive coach. After failing as a life coach, a friend pointed out that she was born to sell and that started her on another mission to work out how she could turn this into a new career. In 2012, she became a sales coach.
Kendrick coached 100 people for free to get started, then created a bite-sized program for $197, which was super popular, and her clients were achieving success. She then realised that she needed to develop a more in-depth (and higher priced) program to survive, and developed a fail-proof process for client success.
Kendrick believes selling isn't rocket science. Women don't sell like men, and one of the problems is that leading “experts” in sales are all men which doesn't resonate with women. You have to find a way to reframe our belief to “selling is helping.”
