In this episode, I have a conversation with my friend Dr. Alec Miller. He’s pretty big time in the field of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) having co-developed the DBT treatment for adolescents. Alec has always been someone who I learn a LOT from - he’s both brilliant and easy to talk to - and today is no different. We talk all about invalidating ourselves, emotion phobia, why toxic positivity doesn’t work - and even make things worse - and how sensitivity is a true superpower.

Dr. Alec Miller is Co-Founder and Clinical Director of Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants (CBC) which is a large group practice and training center based in White Plains and New York City, NY. He is also a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.  He is perhaps best known for adapting Dialectical Behavior Therapy for adolescents and their families. He’s also impressively published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, as well as four books, including the DBT Skills Manual for Adolescents. As a clinician, Dr. Miller is a practitioner of CBT and DBT and treats adults, adolescents, couples and families in White Plains, NY.

You can find out more about Alec Miller’s therapy practice at psychology.com">https://www.cbc-psychology.com and by finding him on linkedin.

I’m also obsessed with knowing all about you, so please follow (and DM!)  me on Instagram, Facebook and my website. We’re in this together and the journey is going to be so awesome.
