William J. Evans, PhD is an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the Duke University Medical Center and Human Nutrition in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Evans is the author or co-author of more than 300 publications in scientific journals, has more than 75,000 citations and was the first to describe sarcopenia. He is the co-inventor of a non-invasive and accurate measurement of muscle mass which is strongly related to health outcomes in older people. He is a founding member of the scwd.org/wasting-disorders/">Society for Sarcopenia, Cachexia, and Wasting Disorders.
