Welcome dog lovers!  I am so looking forward to our chat with Dr. Kendra Pope who practices integrative medicine and oncology at her practice in Red Bank, NJ and serves as a visiting clinician in Integrative Oncology at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

According to The Veterinary Cancer Society, cancer is the leading cause of death in 47% of dogs, especially dogs over age ten.  Are those the most current stats that you’re aware of?

Why do you think more and more dogs are getting cancer?

What is integrative veterinary oncology?

And there aren’t that many veterinary oncologists right?

What made you get into this line of veterinary medicine?

With cancer being so prevalent, why aren’t there more veterinary oncologists?

Is it true that most lumps and bumps are not cancer?

Are there typical signs of cancers that we should pay attention to?

What are some of the therapies offered in integrative veterinary oncology?

What are the benefits of combining conventional and complementary therapies when treating cancer patients?

Do holistic treatments lessen the side effects of chemotherapy?

Cancer is a very scary word, so if our dog is diagnosed with cancer, what do you recommend that we do?  Get a second opinion?

What are your thoughts on diet both with healthy dogs and then what to feed when a dog is diagnosed?

Dr. Pope, where can everyone find out more information about you and your practice? https://www.drkendrapope.com/
