Johnna, are you here to set the record straight?
Would you agree that although dogs would prefer meat, they can survive on whatever is available?
Can you first talk about the classification of Carnivora and what it’s based on?
Johnna, can you go through some of the physical features of why dogs are considered carnivores? Like maybe their teeth, their GI tract and how they break down enzymes?
What about omega-3s? Don’t dogs need to get their omega 3s from meat?
And are there amino acids that are only found in meat?
What about vitamin D and taurine? Do those need to come from meat?
Some argue that mostly meat diets are higher in calories and make dogs overweight. What are your thoughts?
What’s your take on dogs fed a vegetarian or vegan diet? Can they get all of the nutrients they need from a strictly plant-based diet or would some have to be supplemented?
Should dogs have carbohydrates in their diet?
What should be the optimal percentages of protein, fat and carbohydrates?
