Submit ReviewBrian Peterson and Brian Roest are beekeepers and educators in the Detroit, Michigan area. They created "Bees in the D"; a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to create a cooperative effort between the residents, schools, organizations and business in the Detroit area to "contribute to the health of honey bee colonies and the education of their importance to our environment."
The Bees in the D have over 160 colonies located throughout the Detroit area in public and corporate locations, including the rooftops of hotels and restaurants and community areas. These locations give Bees in the D many opportunities to talk with the general public about the importance of honey bees and other pollinators in the world.
They have a fantastic educational program that is being modeled in other cities around the US. Their efforts will soon be rewarded with the opening of the Bees in the D Education Center in the near future.
