So you want to be a songwriter. Well, loving music is a good start, but its not going to get you in to any doors. You have to not only know how to write that next big hit song, but what to do with it. 

Our guest on this episode is Corey Lee Barker, who is the Creative Director of MC1 Nashville Music Publishing. Talks about what it takes to get your foot in the door, make relationships with other songwriters, and staying on track by doing one thing... Persistence, persistence, and persistence. Corey talks about writing the songs that the artist (or TV show or film) is looking for, along with does a Publishing Deal make sense for today’s artist.

Corey has had over 700 cuts in various genres such as Country, Christian, Pop/Rock, Reggae, Polka, Comedy, TV, and film. He has received multiple Nominations/Awards for songwriter of the year by the Tennessee Songwriters Association, Inspirational Country Music Association, Josie Music Awards, Texas Country Music Association, World Songwriting Awards and the North America Country Music Association International.  He also has 10 #1 songs in the Christian Country Genre. Corey has written songs for William Shatner,  Vince Gill, Neal McCoy, Home Free, Daryle Singletary, Cledus T Judd, Rebecca Lynn Howard, TG Sheppard, Johnny Lee, Bill Anderson, Jason Jones (Warner Brothers), Lucas Hoge, Cash Creek, T Graham Brown, Claudette King and a host of others.  TV placements include HALLMARK, SMALLVILLE, THE MESSENGERS, ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, BIRTH OF A LEGEND, ANIMAL PLANET, HBO, and GAC, CW Network, WB Network, and NETFLIX.
