Submit ReviewBoy meets girl, sparks fly, you are instantly drawn to each other and the rest as they say, is history. Hmmmmm.... Isn't this how we were all raised to believe in love. But, what if you meet someone who seems to tick all of your boxes, and you just don’t feel any butterflies-in-your-stomach-thing with them? Does chemistry = love? Tune in to find out.

Tune in to listen to why we build walls instead of bridges in our relationships.
2020 : A year where life seemed closer to a sci-fi movie than reality. A year when all of us were forced to create a new normal. Many lessons learned and many beliefs changed. 2020 will truly be a year that we won't forget for decades to come. Here's looking at what it was and trying to move ahead in looking towards what 2021 can be. Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2021.

Social-distancing, self-isolation, quarantine... I think we can all agree that we would be happy to never hear these words again in our lifetime. An unprecedented situation which has brought life as we knew it, to a complete halt. Are you someone who accepts these dips as fate or are you someone who fights back and comes out on top. Ask yourself - What is the dip teaching me? Lets explore. Tune in!
Family - Love them or hate them but you cannot ignore them. What does family mean to you? Let's face it - Covid19 has taken over our lives. Life as normal has completely come to a halt and we are constantly trying to find the new normal. This is difficult because the situation is changing rapidly and most of us are left to decide how to tackle this new threat. The debates keep raging, on whether this is a major threat that requires the measures adopted by most countries or is it just an over-reaction to something that is not as serious as its hyped to be. The divide seems to be quite distinct between those who believe the facts and stats and those who believe it will blow over. Which side are you on? Tune in!

How can you find something unless you are aware of seeking it, for what you are seeking is also seeking you. Within each of us exists a myriad of emotions. Whilst we have access to these when needed, we tend to hold on to some of them far too long after the event they showed up for has ended. Feeling unhappy about something that is happening is not the same as calling yourself unhappy. Emotions come and go based on situations in life and holding on to them keeps us stuck in time, not allowing us to move forward. You don't have to suffer over and over again for a situation that no longer exists. Be aware of shining your focus on thoughts and emotions that serve you well. Tune in.
We use a complex blend of words to communicate our thoughts, ideas and feelings. Yet, we feel misunderstood. Why is that we are able to speak a language fluently but are not able to communicate effectively? Words are the most common means to communicate with others but not everyone is able to use them successfully. Is it because other are not able to understand us or is it because we are not focussed on finding the right way to get our message across? Let's explore this topic to find out how we can get our message across to the right audience. Tune In.
You make a conscious decision to do something or achieve a goal and whilst you may have a great start, you find yourself getting in your own way. Most people who experience self-sabotage are not able to understand why they destroy their own chances of achieving what they want. They feel like they have no control over their mind and body and this leads to several negative emotions that can be overwhelming. Tune in to listen to what happens and what you can do to align yourself with your body and mind.
What does being late mean? Can we crush our dreams just because we didn't have them at the time we were supposed to? Do we need to be stuck in places we do not want to be in, or do things that give us no joy, just because we feel it's too late to change? Is our life worth giving up over these imaginary rules and boundaries? My search to find the right answer lead me to paths I have always known exist. We have all we need inside of us to make the changes, we need to make in our lives. Never settle for less than you deserve and never quit trying to live the best version of your life. What else is there to live for? Hello and welcome to my podcast - Unapologetically KK!
What does it mean to be unapologetic. The dictionary definition is "someone who is unwilling to make or express an apology". To me its a lot more than that. Being unapologetic conveys a sense of strength and freedom to be whoever you choose to be and not apologize for it just because you do not conform to a standard. How can an individual by its very nature of being one, conform? What are we conforming to anyway and why? Why are people who forge new paths subjected to ridicule and punished for it? Even in this day and age we are still fighting for our right to be able to express ourselves freely. There are so many different reason for being unapologetic but the one that matters the most is : How can you apologize for being yourself. Stay strong and unapologetic always!
Ugly, Beautiful, Fit, Fat, Successful, Good for Nothing, Star, Black Sheep! These are just words right? Wrong!!! They take on a whole new meaning when used as a label to describe someone else or yourself. Why do we do this to ourselves or others? Why, when we can spread love, do we spread hate? Why, when we crave kindness, we still have the capacity to be cruel? Have you ever thought about what just one word like ugly can do to a person. Carrying the burden of labels is excruciatingly painful and so, so unnecessary. Let's stop this cycle of destruction today and give ourselves a new label - EMPOWERED! Hello and welcome to my podcast.
Is the art of conversation dying? Have digital communications not only abbreviated the language by providing emojis and gifs to express our feelings, but maybe also given us a platform where actions do not have to follow words? How many times have you actually laughed out loud when writing LOL or wanted to hug the person or love the person when u sent hearts and flowers and hugs on text messages? Face to face conversations require not only words but a mind body connect too. It has become so easy to say things on a digital platform that we are unable to say to a person face to face. People break-up, bully, abuse and malign others on digital platforms and would probably never have the courage to say those same things face to face. Words account for only 7% of our communication, tone of voice 38% and body language 55%. In digital conversations, are we then only conveying 7% of our actual thoughts? Tune in to listen to the pros and cons of each side.
If we understood the power of our mind, we would never think a negative thought again. How many times have we felt something negative and had no idea why? If we don't know what is going on inside of us, then who will? How can we reach out to others to tell us what is happening within us? What affects us, and why can't we stop the voice in our head? Too many questions? Tune in to listen to the my podcast - The Power of Thought to find some of the answers. KK
Life in plastic is fantastic. This was from a song with the characters Barbie and Ken, but has come to stand for the unrealistic beauty standards we aspire for. If Barbie were a real woman, she would be approx. 6 feet tall with a 39" chest, 16" waist and 33" hip. She would have to probably walk on all fours due to the size of her head and her long and thin neck, which would struggle to hold her head in place. While our aspirations are not as scary, they do have some severe repercussions on our mental health. Are we teaching our children this unreal standard of beauty? What really is a beauty standard? Can a population of the most diverse species on this planet have a unified beauty standard? Sounds absurd when you say it out loud and yet that is more the rule than the exception. An untiring quest to achieve the impossible. With everything else we have achieved technologically, medically and spiritually, this is perhaps the dark side of innovation. Tune in to listen to me attempt to unravel the mysteries of beauty standards.
Home is where the heart is! What can be more true than that? It's not just four walls of concrete to shelter you against the elements. Its an emotion you feel every time you walk in through that door. Its your space, your comfort zone, your shelter. What would happen if you were to lose it one day? What would it feel like to have no place to go to at the end of the day? Being homeless is not about just not having a place to stay. Its about the emotional trauma and indignity of living your life as if you are not human anymore. You need to adapt to several different situations just to survive on the streets . My recent vacation to New York really hit hard when I saw several people living on the streets. This time, I couldn't just give them some money and walk past them and forget them and neither could I ignore them. This podcast has been one of the toughest ones I've done so far and it has only given me more strength and determination to continue to do what I can to highlight topics that may make us feel uncomfortable but need to be discussed and actioned. Tune in.
I am angry! I am sad! I am worthless! Ever had moments when you focus on everything that is wrong in your life? If you stop and notice, it is usually when you have time on your hands and not much to do. There is a pattern that shows that we think of the most negative things when we are idle. Having nothing to do is somehow a trigger to a negative thought process. Instead of just enjoying ourselves and taking a break, we think about all the things we should be doing and are not doing. There is a way to break the cycle of negative thoughts and its starts with you wanting to break it. Conscious thought leads to conscious behavior. So what do you want to do about your negative thoughts? Hello and welcome to my podcast - #unapologeticallyKK

The one organ we all associate with love can also be the deadliest. Almost 18 million deaths are due to cardio vascular diseases annually, which accounts for 31% of all global deaths. The most important thing, he says is to acknowledge you need to change your lifestyle and get help at the right time. Tune in.
"I can't do this anymore, I'm totally burnt out". Have you said or heard this before? We have all felt the need to take a break because we have pushed ourselves too hard but BOS or burn out syndrome is beyond just exhaustion. It is when you have pushed yourself so far out of what your body and mind is capable of handling, that you could have reached a point of apathy. Symptoms can be physical or mental or both and can be more severe than depression and exhaustion. Total burn out can lead to major diseases of the body and mind. Burn out has also recently been defined as Occupational Burn Out by the WHO where it is described as a syndrome linked to longterm unresolved work related stress. In conversation with Dr. Saliha Afridi, Clinical Psychologist and Managing Director of Lighthouse Arabia a mental health and wellness facility in Dubai. Tune in to find out more about what the symptoms are and how to get help.
Fake Friends! A term we are all familiar with. At every stage in our lives, we have come across someone who is not a genuine friend or is pretending to live a life that is far away from reality. In today's world where connecting with someone electronically affords you the luxury of anonymity and duplicity we have lost the art of conversation and genuine emotions. Everything has to look good on the outside, even if we are crumbling on the inside. Have you ever asked why? Why should I pretend to be someone I am not? Why should I project an image that is fake? Why am I afraid to stand out and be myself? The only answer is fear. Tune in to listen to my podcast about what being fake means and why we feel the need to be fake.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. What do we really know about this? Yet we are quick to judge and believe we have the right to label those who are struggling with it. Knowledge and compassion go a long way in not only helping those with this disorder but may also minimize its effect in their lives. If we were to just understand what living with this disorder or any other mental health issue feels like, we would not only be able to change the way people deal with it but also the quality of their lives. Being labeled and isolated only adds to an already difficult situation and makes it so much harder to deal with its symptoms. In conversation with Dr. Thoraiya who tells us all about ADHD and what it means for the individual and family once they have been diagnosed. Tune in.
Anger is a common emotion we have all experienced at some time or another but do you know there are different types of anger. When something external causes a negative emotion within you, you tend to react negatively but what if I tell you that by understanding what you are feeling, you can change your reaction. Understanding yourself better is the key to understanding the environment around you. Taking control of your reactions helps you take control back from external sources. Changing your behavior is difficult but not impossible. Tune in to listen to and understand the many facets of anger and how to overcome them.
What goes around, comes around! Karma gets us all in the end. Isn't that what we have heard numerous times? Do we really understand the true principles of Karma? The true meaning of Karma is Action. It says that the effect of what we do in the moment will define our future. It is not punishment and reward system as we all imagine but instead it teaches us that through positive action we can change our life at any time. Positive behavior creates a positive life and negative behavior creates a negative life. If you would like to understand this precious universal concept a bit more, tune in.
We come into this world needing care and we leave this world needing care. However, are we able to love and nurture our parents as much as we do our children? With the advances in medical care, we are living longer than previous generations. Are we able to provide the care and attention the older generation needs? Living and dying with dignity is what each one of us desires and there is nothing worse than making someone who has given us the best start in life, feel like they have been forgotten. In conversation with Shainoor Khoja who wants to dedicate her life and work to giving back to those who have been left behind and feel like they have nothing left to contribute to their family or society. We need to do a lot more for our elders and there are several people who are leading the way to help the Silver Generation live their life with dignity. Tune In.
We all will reach the departure gate...one day. Have you thought about what will happen to your family when you are gone? Will they be financially secure? The grief of losing a loved one is the single most painful thing to experience and not being able to take care of your family due to financial issues makes it even more traumatic. Inheritance laws can be complicated and difficult to understand and division of assets are not straight forward in the absence of a will. If you have assets then it is imperative for you to have a will to distribute those assets to your loved ones according to your last wishes. The process is quick and easy and can save your family a lot of unnecessary heartache. In conversation with Naila Sarwar who is a lawyer and registered Wills Expert based in Dubai. She answers all questions relating to the why, when and how to register a will. Tune In.

You are not alone in feeling overwhelmed with the amount of time you spend at work and the misery it brings if you are stuck in a job that doesn't make you happy. Doing what needs to be done to get a salary is often associated with dead-end jobs and feeling stuck in them to pay the bills. But what if you could change your perspective? In conversation with Maria Haggo who is the founder of Little Miss Wellness, a company that provides wellness programs for corporates and individuals to create their own happiness. Tune In.
An inappropriate touch. A crude comment. A sexual advance brushed off as a joke. Sexual Harassment is subtle and if not stopped or reported will become worse and can turn to assault. There is a lot at stake if you speak up but there is a lot more to lose if you don't. What feels wrong to you is wrong and you do not need to conform to anyone else's idea of what is appropriate. There is no easy way out if you are facing sexual harassment. Like facing a bully, you have to take your power back or you will end up losing more than just your job or your relationships. In conversation with Clinical Psychologist Dr. Thoraiya Kanafani to understand what sexual harassment is and what you can do to help yourself face it. Tune In.
Ever heard of Gaslighting? No? Neither had I. Its a form of emotional abuse meant to alter your perception of reality. I am not claiming to be an expert in mental health issues, only someone who is hoping to bring the topic to light one conversation at a time. My sole aim is to highlight the issues causing us so much emotional pain that we are unable to function due to the lack of support and options available. Mental health is not a taboo subject and the more people who talk about it, the more awareness there will be. So lets make talking about mental health as easy as talking about physical health. If you are going through any emotional abuse, get help and if you know someone else who is, then help them get help. Together we can help eachother live a happier and healthier life. Tune in

Its 2019 but it still feels like we are in the dark ages where size and beauty is concerned. We need to be aware of the fact that the increase in the rates of plastic surgeries to create a perfect exterior is a cry for help. "You can't sit with us" is an iconic phrase from an iconic movie that resonated with so many teenage girls. If you have ever been discriminated against or singled out and bullied, you know what I am talking about. Mean girls exist and not just in school and universities but at work and in social situations too. Tune in to hear about what we can do as parents to see the signs of emotional trauma and how we can help our children navigate this difficult phase of their teenage years.

The greatest threat to our planet is the thought that someone else will save it.
