Submit ReviewIt's the end of an era, folks! Well, if an era is 81 weeks or so, then it's the end of an era. That's right, we're calling it quits! The time has come to sunset The Uprooted Pod. We've had so much fun talking to you all and sharing our life over the past year and a half but it's time. We made a joint decision to move in a new direction as to not put so much private information out there about our kids, because that isn't fair to them. Don't worry, nothing bad happened, we're just getting prepared for the delicate teen years and felt this was the best time to shut it down.
With that said, fear not, we aren't really going anywhere! We are starting a new, sexier relationship show called Coming Together that will be premiering very soon! We're going to talk all things relationships, especially when it comes to the bedroom! We hope you join us over there and give us a follow for a good time!
Thank you all so much for your continued support, we sure love each and every one of YOU! One last time...Cheers!

Hey, friends! We're trying something new here on The Uprooted Pod and kind of taking a new direction. You see, we're no parenting experts with a parenting podcast, but we are still parents with a podcast. And, we are also just regular people with opinions, observations, and ideas about how things should be, and we want to share ALL of it with you! We're going to be taking on a less structured talk format that's all about what's going on in the world, our lives, and our family. As always, it'll be good fun, healthy debate, and all the endearing things you've come to love over the past year and a half.
This week we get into the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and how the information should or should not be filtered for our children. We also attack John's distrust and mental health issues, and close things out with a riveting question of the week about coloring (what?!)! We hope you enjoy!

Hey, friends, welcome back to another fun episode with your favorite couple! This week is all about parenting and is an informative follow-up to last week's great show with Dr. Laura Froyen. If you haven't listened to that yet, do it now!

Happy February, Uprooters! This month we are celebrating the month of love, and there's no better way to start than with some self love and care.
This week we welcome Dr. Laura Froyen from the Balanced Parent Podcast to share her wisdom on achieving balance in relationships and parenting. Dr. Laura holds a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Couple and Family Therapy from Michigan State University, and has worked as a family therapist and in academia as an Assistant Professor. Her insight is absolutely amazing and boy does it help us! We may just try to make her a recurring guest with some on-air therapy in the future! We hope you enjoy her tips on becoming a better and more balanced parent. She's really great and we had a great time talking with her.
We close the show with our Reel Review of X-Men: Days of Future Past. This one was by far the best and highest rated yet by us and the critics. Next week is the last X-Men movie and our superhero movie experiment will be over (finally)!
Please be sure to visit Dr. Laura at laurafroyen.com and be sure to listen and subscribe to her podcast, The Balanced Parent wherever podcasts are found.

The Reel Review wraps up the show with a thorough look into the not-so-fantastic Fantastic 4 from 2005. It was really so, so bad and we tell ya why!

This week we talk about all the things...Teen Mom 2, parenting advice, relationship stuff, and Wanda Sykes-Vision (what?!)! It's a complete s*** show as per usual, but tons o' fun (also as per usual)! Be sure to stick around till the end for a riveting Reel Review of X-Men and listen to John all but lose his nerd card...
Thank you all so much for your continued support! We love all of you and hope you are staying safe in these crazy days. Don't forget to rate and review on your favorite podcast app today, cheers!

Happy New Year!!! What felt like the longest year in the history of years is finally coming to an end and WE. ARE. READY! But first, we take some time to reflect on the year that was...the good, the bad, the ugly, all the things. Despite all the darkness, there indeed was some light if you take the time to look for it and we break it down for you this episode.
The brightest spot of the year for us was definitely all of you! You make this thing possible and have made our podcasting dreams come true so, THANK YOU!!! We hope your 2021 is bright, safe, and so much better that 2020. Cheers!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, fellow Uprooted family! It's Christmas Eve and, like all parents, we're tired! This week we take a little break from the advice dispensing and play some fun little Christmas-themed games whilst sucking down a very special holiday cocktail. It's a fun time for a very long day of Christmas cheer and chores and we hope you enjoy it!
As we begin to close out a very long and challenging year, our only hope is that we have brought you some laughs and joy along the way. Next week will be a very fun "year in review" episode and we can't wait to bring it to you. For now, sit back and enjoy Christmastime as best you can and be good to one another. Cheers!

Hey there, party people, it's another fun-filled episode of The Uprooted Podcast! This week is all about Christmas with family...horror stories, surprises, and all things holiday family fiascos! Inspired by this week's Reel Review of Four Christmases, John and Christine share their favorite (and not so favorite) memories of Christmastime "traditions" with their respective families. It's a great time reminiscing, complete with noisy interruptions from our biggest fan, Lucille the Corgi!
Thank you so much for your support and downloads now and all year long! We sure appreciate each and every one of YOU! Don't forget to rate & review, follow, and do all the things, cheers!

It's lucky 13 for your hosts with the most, John & Christine! That's right, this week's episode is a special anniversary-themed addition with a sprinkling of Christmas cheer!
Relationship "advice" takes hold in this episode as we discuss the tricks of the trade for a successful long-term marriage. We're right in the middle of it, and far from perfect, but we seem to make it work! Parenting, monoliths, and a Reel Review of the new Disney+ original, Godmothered round out another fun episode! Cheers!

It's finally here!!! Christmastime, holidays, whatever you care to call it, it's HERE and we are SOOOOOOO happy!
During this most joyful time of year, we are bursting at the seams with joy and we intend to share it with all of you over the month of December. Holiday-themed parenting and relationship stories and advice, Christmas movie Reel Reviews, and some very special "Just so you know" guy/gal/they/X stories are coming your way this week and all month long! Cheers!

Happy Thanksgiving to all! We are so thankful for each and every one of you this holiday season and always! Truly, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you all so, so much for your support of this show over the past 8 months. We hope you have a fantastic holiday with your loved ones!
This week we have a special turkey day themed show with all the trimmings! In Parenting Purgatory, we share some tips on how to get your kids to eat the holiday meal (without throwing up all over grandma's dress)! In the Relationship Room, Christine shares some very useful tips on how to survive those stressful family dinners during the holidays, and beyond! You won't want to miss this very helpful advice! Finally, we close with a Reel Review of a just okay Speser Confidential. Not great, not terrible, kinda like this show! : )
Thank you all again, so much. Cheers!

What's up, friends! Welcome back to another episode of America's favorite couple! I'm not really sure that's a thing but I guess it is now!
This week's episode is a bucket list-themed show because John has just a few months to liv..........
Just kidding! We watch The Bucket List in the Reel Review which inspires us to discuss three items from our personal bucket lists! Christine wants to fly planes and John, ironically, really wants to fly on a private jet. Who knew?! Parenting Purgatory is all about back-to-school anxieties and fair and balanced parenting between our two jerks, followed by a real-talk Relationship Room about a recent lack of "bedroom activities" and how positive self-image can affect those things. It's a good time, super honest and real, just as you've come to expect from us!
Thank you all so much for your love and support, we really appreciate it! Don't forget to drop a rating & review on your favorite podcast app, and give us a follow on the social medias. Cheers!

What's up, everyone?! Welcome back to another exciting episode of The Uprooted Pod!
This week we have a great time (especially John) talking to you about all the things! Getting things started, Christine briefs the audience on her recent bout with chest pain, but don't be alarmed, her pecker, er ticker is in GREAT shape! It was just a minor swelling of the cartilage, likely caused by yawning too hard when John was telling yet another boring story (y'all feel the pain too?)!
In Parenting Purgatory, we get into more woes with Jakob's Autism Spectrum Disorder and whether or not we should do a better job shielding the real world from our kids. Moving into the Relationship Room, Christine gives John some much deserved credit for bringing home some flowers the other day, and talks about recognizing your partner's cues to ensure we are taking care of one another. We finally wrap things up with a Christmas-themed What's Your Story and a fun Reel Review of Netflix's Holidate. It was a super fun movie and deserves way more credit than what the stuffy critics gave it!
Thanks as always for the love and support, we sure appreciate it! Don't forget to give us a review on your favorite podcast app and check out the new Facebook group while you're surfing the worldwide web! Cheers!

Happy Thursday, Fam-Bam! We're back with another action-packed episode to help you get through the muck that we call life right now!
This week in Parenting Purgatory, we talk about our differing opinions of how to parent with Halloween candy as a reward. Spoiler alert...we don't agree at all! In the Relationship Room, John has a "beef" with Christine over some left over steak shenanigans and we both discuss the door to the actual bedroom being broken, meaning no "special" time until John fixes it! We close out the show with What's Your Story and a sad Reel Review discussing one of Robin Williams' last films (spoiler, again...it's not good).

Wooooooooooo!!! It's the spooky Halloween addition of The Uprooted Podcast!
This week is all about spooky season, ghost stories, and the absolute best part of Halloween...CANDY! That's right, we get down on some serious candy this week but it's not the candy you might be familiar with... Instead of indulging in everyone's favorites, we put our lives on the line and try some traditional Japanese candy! It's a little too much fun and the sugar rush definitely has an effect on the show!
Closing things out are some spooky ghost stories from us and some of our listeners and another riveting Reel Review of The Ritual, which was not so riveting and definitely not scary.
Thank you for all of your support and, as always, we sure would appreciate a rating and review on your favorite podcast app! Don't forget to also join our new Facebook group if you haven't yet, and spread the good word to your friends and family. Cheers!

We're back with another episode full of shenanigans for YOU!
This week we share our attempt at healthier eating for the kiddos (and us!), take a fun little compatibility quiz in the Relationship Room, and learn that shark attacks can end in one of two ways in What's Your Story. Wrapping things up is a riveting Reel Review of Hereditary as we come to the end of out month of horror movies. It's another great time and we hope you love it!

Welcome back to another episode of The Uprooted Podcast!
This week has ALL. THE. THINGS! We start off with a recap of our recent road trip to The Berkshires in Western Massachusetts before moving into a great conversation about the 5 Love Languages! Discover which languages John & Christine relate to the most, and what their kiddos speak as well! We promise it's fun and insightful! We wrap things up with an important lesson from Christine's What's Your Story article and another not-so-terrifying Reel Review breaking down the Child's Play remake from 2019. Spoiler alert...this movie wasn't scary either!

Whether it's Stephen King's evil Plymouth Fury or our beloved hostess with the mostest, the title of this week's episode says it all...don't even try to f**k with Christine!
This week's episode kicks off our month of horror movies in the Reel Review where we breakdown John Carpenter's adaptation of Stephen King's Christine from 1983. Spoiler alert...it's not really that scary!
In Parenting Purgatory, Christine pairs wine varietals with our kids' attitude/behavior. The information is helpful and sure to make parents drunk in no time!
The Relationship Room is short and sweet but sets up a fun discussion about the 5 Love Languages next week. You won't want to miss that! I'm sure it will be a shit show love fest for the ages!

Happy Thursday, Uprooters! This week we have another fun episode for you to give you a break from all the crap floating around out there. We hope to be a positive break in your week and we try to keep a smile on your face at least for a brief time.
This week in Parenting Purgatory, John wins the parenting championship belt for his expert dealings with a virtual learning incident, and has all the praise heaped on him by Christine. It didn't last long though as the Relationship Room takes an unexpected turn and turns into a session of 10 things Christine hates about John! It was most unexpected and poor John may never recover! We close out with the Reel Review and tease our October horror movie extravaganza!
As always, thank you for dropping by and giving us a listen. We appreciate all of you and we couldn't do this without your downloads, shares, and reviews. So, THANK YOU and cheers to you!

Only a Sith deals in absolutes...
This week on the pod we get into some of things that have been bothering us like the "absolute" culture most people are living, stupid green Android text boxes, and why you can only wear white ON Labor Day. In Parenting Purgatory we get into our daughter who is 8 going on 14 and what we can do to slow the babygirl down a bit, followed by a borderline-TMI Relationship Room where John gives some stretching advice to aging men in the bedroom! You're not gonna want to miss this one...
Closing out the show is What's Your Story featuring some not so great advice about sex during a pandemic out of "America's Hat," Canada, and a Reel Review of Sucker Punch. You'll be surprised to hear the movie isn't as bad as its title, but equally as weird!
Thank you as always for your support and subscriptions! Be sure to spread the good word and share with anyone who will listen, and feel free to drop us a rating & review wherever you get your pods. Cheers!

Other shenanigans ensue as we break down the news, Charlie St. Cloud in the Reel Review, and John shares his "unique" way of scoring women out in the wild. A special visit from the grandparents influences Parenting Purgatory and The Relationship Room to round out another full episode of Uprooted goodness.

It's our 21st (episode) birthday and we don't disappoint with our drunkest episode yet! We weren't really drunk by most standards but, at our age, it doesn't take much...
We have another action-packed episode on tap for you this week, including all your riveting favorites like The Reel Review, In the News, and Parenting Purgatory. We also "go down" the sex highway and get into some juicy details about married sex life challenges and opportunities. It's a good time as per usual!
Thank you as always for all your support! We love our listeners and we hope you love the pod just as much! Don't forget to rate, review, and share the good news with your friends! We advertise based on word of mouth so every little bit really helps. Cheers!
Hey, Party People! quick little bonus sesh for you all to announce a project we will be participating in!
Quick backstory...
West Coast friends of the pod, Jimmy & Jonathan (@jloweandjt) recently started an amazing project to spread kindness and positivity to a random service industry employee through their Spare Change 50 Project. Here's how it works: a weekly call to action through social media channels to get people to donate just $.50 to a Venmo account. The money is then collected and presented in the form of a tip to a service worker at a restaurant or other place of business.
The first two experiments with the project produced amazing results with two separate tips in excess of $300 being presented!
We were so inspired by this that we asked if we could start an East Coast version and use the pod as our avenue for sharing and posting. Of course JLowe and JT said yes so here we are!
Starting with this episode, we are open for collecting @Sparechange50East on Venmo! We go out to eat weekly as a family so we intend to pay it forward at least once per week. It's only $.50 so we encourage everyone to donate! If you can't donate, please help us spread the word using #sparechange50! Cheers!

La-da-da-da-dah, it's the mothaf'n Up-rooted Pod (The Uprooted Pod mothaf'er!)...
Who doesn't love some Dr. Dre, Snoop D-O-Double G, and Nate Dogg??? Well, these Cali natives sure do (obvi)!
Hey! Why the weird intro??? Because it's the "next episode", duh! Seriously though, we've got so much going on at the Uprooted HQ that I'm not even sure which episode this is so we'll just call it episode next!
This week we get into all the good news, parenting nuggets, and relationship advice(?) from the pros...US! we also hop on the Hamilton bandwagon and share our thoughts along with all kinds of other shenanigans. Stick around until the end for a spectacular Reel Review where we breakdown Cowboys & Aliens and all its rotten glory.
Hey guys & gals, thank you so much for listening and being a part of this thing. We are truly full of endless gratitude for all of you, and you're really making our dreams come true just by downloading. It really means so much to us, so THANK YOU!

What's up, what's up, Uprooted fam bam?! (That was John's attempt at sounding young and hip!)
We've got another hot pod for you this week featuring all the things! in this episode we get back to our roots, if you will, and the original purpose we started this thing...to talk about parenting, life, and love! So, with that said, we share our juicy Vermont sex story (ooh la la), some other relationship tidbits, and we have a real conversation about our son and some of the mental health struggles he is experiencing. Hey...it's real talk by even real-er people, and this episode just may be our realest yet!
Don't be too concerned with all the heavy stuff...we still get into some wacky news stories and everyone's new favorite, the Reel Review where we breakdown Michael Bay's "cerebral" film The Island (note sarcasm here...). It's a good time had by all and we hope you enjoy the show!
Y'all, thank you SO much for #allthethings! We would be nothing without all of your support, downloads, ratings, and reviews. We LOVE each and everyone of you and we hope we continue to provide you with a weekly escape from the ills of the world.
Don't forget to check out the the show and the other Uprooted enterprises here! There you will find all of our socials, the Etsy shop we reference, and so much more! Thank you again and CHEERS!

SHE'S BAAAAAAACK! Thank the Lord above, for your sake and mine, Christine is BACK! In this episode we get into Christine's adventure to California and the reason she had to travel during these crazy times. We also talk about John's midlife freak-out he's currently experiencing and other exciting moments from his week alone with the kids!
In this week's Reel Review, we breakdown the all-time classic, Twister! It turns out, while entertaining, the movie is actually quite cheesy but in an endearing kinda way. Check it out if you haven't seen it lately and let us know if you agree with our review!
We finish up with In the News where we talk about intentional farting, the Mayan Calendar, and renaming Coumbus, OH to Flavortown (WTF???)! All in all, it's a great episode and it's so great to have Christine back home!
Don't forget to subscribe, rate, review, and #allthethings! Head over to social media land and give us a follow on Instagram , Facebook, and Twitter, too. And if that's too difficult, you can find all things John & Christine HERE.

Howdy Hey, Uprooters! We have a special bonus episode for you this week! Our Hostess with the mostest is away attending to an essential family matter so that means Dad is left alone with the kiddos!!! Pray for him...and them! All jokes aside, John loves his alone time with the kiddos but sure misses is co-host in life!
On this special episode, the Uprooted kiddos you've all heard about join in for a quick review of the local town ice cream joint, Richardson's Farm, and other shenanigans! There's just something so endearing about the innocence in a child's voice and this episode is no exception!
We hope you enjoy this short break from the normal programming and find the same joy in it as we did recording it. Cheers!

What's up, what's up, Uprooters?! Lucky episode 13 is here, and you're all in for a treat because...wait for it...we were wearing our GLASSES (and you all know what happens when we have our glasses on...you get a kick-ass show)!
In this episode we get into John's amazing gifts he received for "Fake Father's Day" this past weekend, including our new best friend, the Drinkworks machine by Keurig! Y'all, this is a cocktail-making Keurig and it's like having a bar in your own house! Trust us, it's amazing! We also debut our newest segment called "The Reel Review" where we watch a poorly rated movie (according to Rotten Tomatoes) and see if it's really all that bad (spoiler alert...the movie we watched this week really was THAT bad). It's a good time and we can't wait for future episodes and movies! Finally, "In the News" features Christine and her story about Oderus Urungus! Confused? Listen to the show and you'll be in the Oderus Urungus know like us!
As always, thank you all so much for your support, We LOVE you! Don't forget to subscribe, rate, review, share the good news, and #allthethings! Hey howdy hey, Uprooters! Welcome back to another week of the hottest pod in Podland! In this week's episode we do all the things as per usual, including breaking down what we're watching, foods that may sound gross but are actually delicious (at least to us!), and a scintillating "In the News" segment complete with new and exciting background music! John also gets preachy on a rant about loud motorcycles, "Harley guys", and other parts of Summer that annoy him. This is must-listen pod, to be sure!

Man, oh man, what a treat we have for you in this special weekend edition bonus episode! Christine tries lobster for the first time...EVER! This may not seem like a big deal but, the last time she tried fish, the end result was puke, so, this is kind of a big deal!
Why are we doing this you ask? Well, we are VERY excited about the newest food offering in our little town of Middleton...SALTY'S LOBSTER SHACK! Well, John is super excited anyway because he LOVES lobster rolls and seafood! Christine will come around...she actually liked the lobster roll...kind of! As for Salty's, A+ for the food and friendly service! We are so happy to have them in our town and i highly recommend that you visit (FYI, we were not paid for this plug)!
Thank you as always for listening, following, subscribing, commenting, rating, reviewing...ALL THE THINGS! We LOVE you, cheers!

Hey, Uprooters, it's been a tough week/month/year but we are here to bring you the good news and positivity you need to break up the suck! We recognize the fact that there are terrible things taking place in our country and around the world. We choose to use our platform as a place where you can briefly step away from the troubles of the real world and enjoy a laugh or two with us. We will always give you real talk from real people but with a side of laughter and distraction, and we hope that's okay with you!
In this week's episode we get into our individual backstories before we became the dynamic duo you know and love today! We also talk about the music some may be surprised is on our playlists, watching The Great, and some kick-ass news stories to close out the show. Christine almost loses her Tree House beer once again, but she prevails in the end and makes the clutch save. All that and more are on this jam-packed episode of fun and optimism! Cheers!
