The Boobs are taking a break! Between big changes in all of our personal lives, and just life in general, it was decided that a “sacred pause” to rest and reset was essential. We are excited to use this time to flourish in other areas of our lives and just… be. We encourage you all to take a pause on something in order to dig deeper into your heart. What will you do? Global warming is a hugely urgent issue that needs our attention all year round. And while it may seem that our efforts would be futile for such an important cause, that’s not the case at all! What’s more is, we can help do our part right here in our homes, and in our own backyards!

This week on the podcast, Lauren is joined by high school science teacher, Karen, who has a passion for environmental sciences. Karen shares all about her devotion to saving the planet and how this can begin right at home with planting responsibly. As Karen discusses, this refers to planting native plants; the main benefit is that their roots can be as deep as 20 feet under the ground and in planting this, it helps to store and sequester carbon. How fascinating is this!? And, an added piece of fun for the kids involved, is that these plants help support populations of native butterflies and native bees. How cool that all of this has such an empowering trickle effect on our world? :)

Karen shares her wealth of knowledge on how we can all do our part - and a remarkable piece of information is in how we eat! Did you know that eating lower on the food chain is more sustainable and better for the Earth? Buying things that are more environmentally friendly is better for your pocket and the planet - so, wins all around!

It was truly awe-inspiring to hear you detail how you dedicate so much heart and time into saving our planet, Karen! Thank you for not only doing your part but for empowering and educating so many others to do so as well - it is astounding to witness such passion for an incredible cause!

“Self-rescue skills before swimming pool thrills!”

May is Water Safety month and we are so excited and honored to share a special interview with two phenomenal women who advocate, empower and educate everyday to help save lives. Nicole Doig-Maguire and Liz Huber join the podcast this week; not only do these two women have an extraordinary gift in helping serve and educate others with their compassion and expertise, they are kick ass BOSS ladies that have dedicated their lives to creating professions with the most incredible mission. Nikki is an ISR instructor teaching self-rescue skills for infants and children all over the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago. Liz is the Founder and director for the CAST Water Safety Foundation, an organization that increases access to self-rescue lessons and empowers families and communities to create strong water safety strategies.

If you look on the CDC website you will see the stark and terrifying words: “More children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause of death except birth defects.” Did those words cast a shudder? It’s a horrible truth. This is why water safety awareness is so urgent. Drowning is preventable and can happen to anyone; that’s why self-rescue skills are of the utmost importance. As CAST states, “Drowning is preventable, and this prevention relies on families and communities working together.”

That’s why we are here to today to share and educate — we are all in this together.

While ISR lessons may seem intimidating at first, you’ll quickly hear why they are so important and necessary - and, special. It provides not only the skills children need, but also instills a confidence, security and undeniable sportsmanship.

The entire ISR experience and community is pretty remarkable, just like these two ladies. We are so honored to have them on the podcast this week and we hope that their informative conversation provides helpful resources for you and your family.

Nikki and Liz, thank you thank YOU for all that you do for children and families everywhere. You two have hearts of gold and an astounding dedication to helping others, and we’re so thankful for all you do!! The world is safer with you two in it :)
