The Journalism Salute is a journalism appreciation podcast. We interview journalists about who they are and what they do.

The goal is to show that journalism is a great profession, that journalists are not the enemy, and that there are many great careers an aspiring journalist can pursue.

Our goal is to be diverse, thoughtful, and interesting.

The goal of this series is to put a spotlight on the people and organizations providing communities and groups with the journalism that matters to them, whether that’s information, education, photography, or many other possibilities

I want to show that these groups are real and important and that it’s really important that we know and respect who they are and what they do. This is part of a bigger project aimed at countering the cries of "fake news" and "lamestream media."

My name is Mark Simon. I am the creator, editor and host of this show. You can find me on Twitter at @journalismpod and @markasimonsays or e-mail me at journalismsalute@gmail.com.
