For the season finale of That Moment, we’re talking about food—our relationship to it, how we find it, and what it provides for us beyond just sustenance.

First up, host Doree Shafrir talks to Miry Whitehill, who started Miry's List, an organization that pairs new arrivals in the US with the resources they need. Miry started the organization after a chance meeting with a Syrian mother. She quickly discovered that food doesn't just bridge cultures—it can help families get back on their feet.

Then we talk to Ryan Kean, VP of Technology, Strategy, and Architecture at Kroger, who helps keep the grocery company ahead of the curve. One of the topics we discuss is Kroger EDGE, a smart shelf display that makes food shopping a customizable and futuristic experience.

Everyone’s personal style is different, so building a fashion brand requires a particularly large amount of empathy, as well as the ability to envision future trends. This week on That Moment we’re exploring the world of fashion.

First up, we talk to Maggie Winter, co-Founder of AYR, a brand that design seasonless apparel for everyday life. Maggie and two friends left high-profile fashion jobs to launch a brand they'd want to work for, making clothes they'd want to wear. But being a digitally native brand with pop-up shops had an unexpected side effect: allowing them to hear exactly what their customers want to wear, too. This might be a glimpse into the future of the fashion industry—when customers have the final say in what brands make.

Then host Doree Shafrir talks to Mindy Sheier, Founder of Runway of Dreams, who was moved to act when her differently-abled son was the only kid in his school who couldn't wear a cool pair of jeans. After designing a very cool, very adaptive pair for him, she launched Runway of Dreams. This organization works with brands like Tommy Hilfiger to design adaptive lines that are equal parts fashion and practicality.

This week on That Moment, we discuss the art of reinvention—how it can work, and how it can fail. First we hear about Shyp, including from investor Hunter Walk of Homebrew Ventures. It’s a conversation about how this one business missed an opportunity to change their model and survive.

Next our host Doree Shafrir talks to Jesse Genet of Lumi about how a very public failure on the TV show Shark Tank led this entrepreneur to dust herself off, rethink her startup, and reap some hefty rewards.
