RUN
We have just returned from the 2023 Springtime Surprise Toy Story Ten-Miler in Orlando, Florida at Walt Disney World Resort. Even though we did not participate in the challenge, these miles were challenging. We discuss our experience at the Expo, pre-race rituals, pre-race party, the race itself, and the post-race celebration.
EAT and DRINK: The 2023 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival
The Citrus Blossom is one of our favorites so far as we work our way around the 2023 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. We visited it on opening weekend of the festival, which runs through July this year! We give you our hot takes as we sampled some Orange Bird-Inspired food and beer at this air-conditioned booth.

RUN
RunDisney races can be overwhelming for a first-time participant. Today, we share tips for a magical race experience from our Runcation Nation!
Here’s a link to a product Kristin mentioned in her tip. (It is an Amazon Affiliate link for the show. It costs nothing extra to order through it. Still the same Amazon site and cost. You help support the show, too.)
HOPESHINE Arm Cooling Sleeves: https://amzn.to/3qE1wuW
EAT
Time for soup, salad, and sides at Hollywood Brown Derby! Hollywood Brown Derby is famous for its Cobb Salad. Yes, we had that, but we also had incredible soup and sides. We talked about them while we enjoyed them in the restaurant. We share our reactions on the show this week with you. (It makes us want to go back as soon as possible!)
DRINK
Hollywood Brown Derby has an extensive cocktail list. We had the Derby cocktail and shared our thoughts as we sampled it for the first time during our meal. You know how we love bourbon. We also wanted to try the Grapefruit Cake Martini, too. We had it from the drink stand outside later, and it was so good!!

CONGRATS TO ALL WHO RAN THE 2023 JEFF GALLOWAY HALF MARATHON WEEKEND SPRING EDITION
This past weekend, our coach held a brand new edition of a favorite: The Jeff Galloway Half Marathon Weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a spring edition that brought some of the same things we love along with a new theme for the 5K. We wish we could have been there, but we became ill on the night before we were supposed to leave for the race. We want to wish everyone a hearty congratulations who completed a race or challenge during this awesome weekend. Shout out to Kevin Gwin who always puts together a great celebration for his Extra Mile Podcast crew, too! 2024, here we come! We have to make up for lost time on that course and with our coach!
EAT and DRINK: ATLANTA FAVORITES
Atlanta, like Jacksonville and Tampa in Florida, Atlanta is absolutely full of tasty food and beverage options for celebrating your accomplishments at Jeff Galloway’s race weekend. We look back at a few of our favorites from previous episodes since we were unable to go this year. There are some tasty options including:
Wrecking Bar BrewPub (Episode 17)
Trader Vic’s and Orpheus Brewing (Episode 46)
Highlander and Scofflaw Brewing (Episode 92)
The Flying Biscuit (Episode 195)

RUN WITH MEB! Benefiting the MEB Foundation
It is true, we just completed a fun race weekend with the Runcation Nation at the Gasparilla Distance Classic in Tampa, but we have to talk about Dana’s hometown for one more week on the show because this week, we are lucky enough to chat with Meb Keflezighi about his inaugural race coming up in May, the Run with Meb! Benefiting the MEB Foundation. This event features a 1-mile, 5K, and 10K offering, both in-person in Tampa and Virtual. Meb told us all about it. Thank you, Meb, for putting it together and taking the time to talk with us about this first annual event. We can’t wait to run it with you. Or, more accurately, at the back of your pack in Al Lopez Park in May! Save us a high five at the finish!

EAT & DRINK
Wood Fired is a pizza and wine bar near the University of South Florida in Tampa. It is a small and quaint place that is huge in flavor! We had salads, appetizers, and pizza that were so flavorful! We recommend this place if you are scouting colleges or heading to Busch Gardens in Tampa. In addition, there are local craft beers on tap and a wide range of wines on the menu, from less expensive to higher-end choices. We went with a glass of house wine, and it was delicious.

Congratulations to Marathoner Nicole Kay from the Cape Coral Running Group on completing her first-ever MARATHON!
Congratulations to all who ran the 2023 Gasparilla Distance Classic this past weekend! It meant so much to run with Jessica, JoJo, Darlene, Susie, Christy, Greg, Dawn, and so many others that we did not get a chance to run into, like Laurie. Patron of the show, Dean Gerber, got a PR in the half marathon distance, as did his wife Judy in the 8K. To have Fitz announce this race and be a part of the weekend with us made it an incredible start and finish line feeling, too!
Congratulations to all who ran the 2023 Princess Half Marathon Weekend. We saw so many on social media who posted medal pictures and footage from the Runcation Nation, so to everyone there, congratulations on running and cheering.
Patron Meg Brower crossed that post-surgery finish line at the Princess 10K in Orlando.
Congratulations to one of our favorite local breweries, Fort Myers Brewing Company, who started the craft beer movement here in Lee County, Florida. Happy ten years, @fmbrew! Here’s to many more! Cheers!

Thanks to Darlene for setting up the post-half celebration for the “Runcation Nation.” Jotoro is in the Channelside location of Tampa, and it did not disappoint. We want to shout out everyone in the Runcation Nation who ran for The Donna Foundation.
This was our first year on the D Squad, led by Babs. She earned a shiny new PR on Sunday in the half marathon! Congrats, Babs, and thanks for all the guidance this year.
Emily O’Keefe, congrats on finishing two challenges in a month, including MARATHONS. Dopey and the Booby Trap Marathon Edition! Congrats to your friend who ran with you postpartum, too!
Wesley Twiggs, related to one Chris Twiggs, earned 5th place this year in his DONNA race during the weekend! Congrats, Wesley!
We got an email this week from Alan Young, too, with a recommendation:
Subject: Thank you from Alan Young
Message: Hi! Thanks again for the help. I am now following you on Facebook and YouTube. When visiting Anaheim, suggest “Cafe Hiro,” a Japanese fusion restaurant with a non-sushi omakase menu. About $45 per person with a four-diner minimum. Thanks for coming out to cheer during the January WDW events. Not good on voice recordings. Do have a shoutout when we finished the full. Let me know if you want to hear it. (Tech challenged) Also, if you're going to see any of the older Disney marathon stuff, let me know. We got a lot of items this year. Enjoy your runcation philosophy. Great to run to. Alan

This week, we get to the big races of 2023 Destination DONNA Marathon Weekend. Dana flew solo in Jacksonville, so he discusses the experience of the Sunday races, including the half, full, and finish of the ultramarathon.
EAT & DRINK
Blue Orchid Thai Cuisine has two locations in the Jacksonville area, and Dana visited one on Friday night. It Is not often that we highlight Thai food, but we LOVE it. This was a recommendation from Donna Foundation board member Amy Mergen, and she was spot-on with it. Dana describes every course and every sip. Thanks, Amy! I can’t wait to return to Jacksonville to go to Blue Orchid Thai Cuisine together.

Whether you ran virtually in Jacksonville with Dana or offered crowd and online support during our live chats, you all made it a wonderful weekend. Dana celebrated love over fear and had an incredible weekend because of all of you.
While many of you ran DONNA, Darlene put another state on the map, and she is so close she can taste the finish line! Congrats on your Mississippi River Half, Darlene!

RUN
This week, we highlight the start of the 2023 Destination DONNA Marathon Weekend. Dana flew solo in Jacksonville, so he discusses the experience of the 5K because it had a completely different venue and feel this year. Did he love it? Would he want the course to be the same in 2024? Find out.
EAT
We featured Wicked Barley back on Episode 51 for food and beverage. Dana wanted to kick off the weekend right, and since he was staying mere moments away from this favorite of ours, he returned to have some tasty food at Wicked Barley Brewing in Jacksonville. Is it still the same menu? Is the quality still next-level? He gives his honest review here on the show.
DRINK
Dana was also right around the corner from Veterans United Craft Brewery and took the opportunity to revisit various favorite styles from the menu. He also checked out the space and some live music there, too. Has it changed? Is it still a favorite? These are questions he answered this week.
THAT’S A WRAP!
Of course, there is more to explore, and we can’t wait to bring you this year’s finds from the weekend! Stay tuned for a recap after this emotional and incredible race weekend.

RUN
This week, Aimee flies solo as Dana heads to Jacksonville for one of our favorite race weekends, The Donna Marathon Weekend 2023. We preview what is ahead this weekend that celebrates survivorship, determination, love, and light. This weekend helps raise funds for The DONNA Foundation to support its mission to finish breast cancer and support those who are fighting it. From the special guests to the partnership with Destination Marathons, it promises an unforgettable experience.
EAT
This week, I asked Dana what his top three destinations for delicious food are in Jacksonville, based on our experience at this race weekend and the Gate River Run 15K. We both ended up highlighting the following:
Poe’s Tavern: https://www.runeatdrink.net/podcast/2019/2/22/red-episode-52-half-marathon-at-donna-and-engine-15?rq=donna
DRINK
Flask and Cannon at V Pizza: https://www.runeatdrink.net/podcast/2022/2/12/red-episode-200-donna-marathon-weekend-5k-and-v-pizzanbsp?rq=donna
Wicked Barley Brewing https://www.runeatdrink.net/podcast/2019/2/19/red-episode-51-the-5k-at-the-donna-marathon-weekend-and-wicked-barley-brewing-company?rq=donna
Intuition Ale Works. https://www.runeatdrink.net/podcast/2018/2/20/red-episode-20-donna-half-marathon-black-sheep-and-intuition-ale-works-in-jacksonville?rq=intuition
THAT’S A WRAP!
Of course, there is more to explore, and we can’t wait to bring you this year’s finds from the weekend! Stay tuned for a recap after this emotional and incredible race weekend.
