Today we're taking a deep dive (see what we did there) into the land of super-smart sharks with spiritual successor to Jaws, 1999's DEEP BLUE SEA directed by Renny Harlin starring Saffron Burrows, Tom Jane, LL Cool J, Samuel L. Jackson, and a parrot. We have an extended discourse about the digestive capabilities of parrots, the anti-smoking subtext of the film, and the unethical terms of Tom Jane's parole. Of course, this episode wouldn't be complete without a close reading of the lyrics to the film's theme: Deepest Bluest (Shark's Fin) by LL Cool J—who, just so you know, is dressed as a sea slut leather daddy in the music video.
