The Recap with Rob – Felicity: Freshman Year
Unknown
My wife’s favorite show is Felicity, so I decided to finally give it a shot. Created by J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves, it’s a show about a college student, Felicity Porter, and her journey to self-discovery through relationships and friendships.
This episode recaps and reviews the first season: Freshman Year. I have many thoughts about the show, most importantly being how much I love it!
This episode, I recap and review the new film Crazy Rich Asians. Starring Constance Wu and Henry Golding, this is the first Hollywood film since 1993’s The Joy Luck Club, to have an all Asian cast. Not only is this a great romantic comedy, but it’s an important film for all Asians (like me) who love movies to see their culture represented in popular culture.
This episode, Mike and Rob discuss their favorite items as we hit the halfway point of 2018. Find out what their favorite movies, television seasons/episodes, and sports moments are!
This episode, we discuss and debate Spielberg’s feelings towards Netflix films and their eligibility at the Academy Awards. Do you believe that Netflix films should be allowed to be nominated at the Academy Awards? Or is Netflix’ streaming platform coincide with television more, making it eligible for Emmy Awards?
In Part 2, we conclude our Movie March Madness bracket consisting of Best Picture winners since 2000! We start out with the Elite 8 movies and narrow it down until we declare what film is the Popcorn and Pop Culture’s Best Picture since 2000 Champion! Can you guess who we’re going to pick?
We have caught the March Madness fever along with the rest of the country! In honor of the excitement the college basketball games brings us, we have compiled our own Movie March Madness bracket, consisting of all the Best Picture winners since 2000! This episode, we go through the first round match-ups! Find out what movies move on and what movies get eliminated from the tournament!
The Oscar Doctor gives his takeaways and lessons learned from the 90th Academy Awards. The Shape of Water won Best Picture, and the Oscar Doctor predicted it correctly, despite Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri being the Vegas oddsmakers front-runner, and despite Get Out receiving some serious momentum towards the end of the awards season. Find out why the Oscar Doctor stuck with his gut feeling and ended up 20/24 in his predictions for the night.
This episode, we recap the 90th Academy Awards. We give our takeaways from the ceremony and discuss how we might improve the show if we could. Finally, we talk about some of our favorite moments and some other moments that didn’t quite work for us. Enjoy!
EP65 – Hall of Fame: Back to the Future Part II (1989)
Unknown
This episode, we induct a new movie to our Hall of Fame! Back to the Future Part II is our selection from the year of 1989. Learn why we picked this film as we get nostalgic and pinpoint our favorite moments from this sequel.
This episode, we talk about movies that are created for the sole purpose of entertainment versus movies created as a piece of art. We attempt to break down some specific superhero films and we debate if they should be categorized more as entertainment or as a work of art. Then we discuss how the landscape of Best Picture winners has changed. Gone are the days of mainstream films like Titanic, Forrest Gump, and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King winning Best Picture. So what happened?
