A Poor Opening can lead to a loss of interest and quickly lose an audience.
In conclusion, a poor opening can lead to a disastrous presentation. It is essential to start a presentation with a clear and concise introduction that engages the audience. By avoiding the worst ways to open a presentation, a speaker can set the stage for a successful and memorable event.
Don’t use any of the above in your presentation openings and they will be absolutely, positively – NO SWEAT!

This video’s about ZOOM. What an amazing application!
We can meet with anyone virtually. For a presenter, our audiences can be all over the world. But it does present some challenges, doesn’t it?
When Covid broke out, I was in another country and the world I came back to is not the world I left.
I didn’t do anything for a few days. Then I got on Zoom meetings. Oh my gosh!
I’ve looked up more noses than an ear, nose, and throat doctor. I’ve seen things in people’s backgrounds, inappropriate doesn’t begin to tell a story. I’ve seen people eating, drinking, playing games, not even on the meeting.
You’ve been to those meetings, right? You recognize some of those people!
And then the leader of the meeting would get on and say, “Can you see my screen? What are you looking at?”
Number One: You look good, right? Well, have a good light on you so the others can see you. A nice ring light.
Number Two: Good microphone. People will watch bad video – they won’t listen to bad audio.
And Number Three: The camera on your computer may be old. Get a nice webcam.
Here’s what I’m doing now, you may want to do the same. I’m using my phone as my webcam, and there’s an app called Camo, which allows you to do amazing things. You probably already have a great camera on your phone, use it.
Those are some really cool things that we can do with the background with the right software.
For instance, if I had a slide up here over my shoulder and I was in the way, I could get out of the way by going into the corner, coming back or, just disappearing and come back this way.
So I’ve shown you a few ways to enhance your presentation with the right software.
Do those things and your presentations will be absolutely, positively – NO SWEAT!
Consider doing some pre-recording so you can show a video because you’re not going to show your first video. You’re going to take it over and over and over again. That can be part of your presentation.
That can work really, really well. A lot of hard work, but then it’s as they say, “In the can.”
I’m always looking for presentations, speaking opportunities.
This is my contact information. Till next time, this is Fred Miller, NO SWEAT Public Speaking!

This app and others are dramatically changing many things.
Here is the unedited summary it did on my book, “NO SWEAT Public Speaking!” I think it did a great job!
“NO SWEAT Public Speaking!” is a comprehensive guide to public speaking, designed to help readers overcome their fear of public speaking and become confident and effective speakers. The book is written by Fred E. Miller, a public speaking coach with over 30 years of experience.
The book covers all aspects of public speaking, from developing content to delivering a powerful presentation. It includes practical tips on how to organize your thoughts, engage your audience, use visual aids effectively, and handle nervousness. The book also provides advice on how to handle difficult audience members and how to handle unexpected situations during a presentation.
One of the key messages of the book is that effective public speaking is not just about talent, but also about preparation and practice. Miller emphasizes that anyone can become a great speaker with the right mindset and approach.
The book is filled with real-life examples, personal stories, and quotes from famous speakers, making it an engaging and entertaining read. It also includes exercises and checklists to help readers apply the concepts to their own speaking engagements.
Overall, “NO SWEAT Public Speaking!” is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to improve their public speaking skills, whether they are a beginner or an experienced speaker looking to take their skills to the next level.
Thank you, Lois Creamer, Book more business, for influencing me to ask ChatGPT for this book summary.

The post I Asked ChatGPT to Summarize my Book, “NO SWEAT Public Speaking!” appeared first on NO SWEAT Public Speaking!.Most people have a fear of public speaking and are poor presenters. This often puts a cap on their business, career, and leadership opportunities.
“I’m sick and tired of people who don’t work as hard as I do and don’t contribute as much to the company getting recognition, bonuses, and sometimes promotions. They’re receiving these benefits because they are speaking. However, most are not very good at it. But, they’re doing it and I’m not. Can you help me?”
It’s a skill you can learn! No one is born a Public Speaker. You also weren’t born with the skills to drive a bicycle, use a computer, or bake a cake. You learned them! Presentation Skills can be acquired by studying, practicing, and being trained by EXPERTS. Just like a recipe for a great cake: speeches have components, parts, and elements that when combined in the correct amounts at the right time produce an exceptional product.
Even if you never speak in front of a group, the ability to do so will improve your one-on-one communication. Everyone does that!

The post Score Business, Career, and Leadership Opportunities by . . . appeared first on NO SWEAT Public Speaking!.Are you worn out from spending hours preparing and practicing only to feel like your performance falls short? Well, have no fear!
First and foremost: You’ll never have to actually give a presentation.
That means you’ll never have to experience the terror of standing in front of a room full of people, trying to make sure your voice doesn’t shake and that you don’t pass out from nerves.
Additionally, Not overcoming your fear of public speaking means you’ll never have to put in the substantial time and effort to prepare a great presentation.
No more researching and creating slides, no more practicing your delivery, and no more worrying about whether or not you’re coming across as confident and competent.
Another perk of not overcoming your fear of public speaking is that: You’ll never have to deal with the pressure of being the center of attention. Who wants that!
No more feeling like everyone in the room is judging you or that you’re being scrutinized.
You can happily blend into the background and avoid any uncomfortable spotlight.
Finally: Not overcoming your fear of public speaking means you’ll never have to worry about the possibility of failure.
In conclusion: If you’re looking for a way to avoid the stress and effort of public speaking, then don’t overcome your fear.
Just sit back, relax, and watch as others take the stage, while you enjoy your newfound freedom from the pressure of presentation-giving.
Those individuals are creating business, career, and leadership opportunities that, like public speaking, have challenges. You won’t have to deal with those either!
Really think about this “Tongue-in-Cheek” post, Do The Opposite, and make your next presentation absolutely, positively – NO SWEAT!

The post Common Mistakes Speakers Make appeared first on NO SWEAT Public Speaking!.
Vocal cues are aspects of speech that convey meaning or convey information about a speaker’s attitudes, emotions, or intentions.
These can include things like tone of voice, pronunciation, enunciation, pausing, volume, pitch, and pace of speaking. They can be very important in communication, as they can help listeners understand the meaning of words and the intentions behind them.
A speaker’s tone of voice may convey sarcasm, anger, or excitement, even if the words themselves do not convey this information. Additionally, vocal cues can help speakers convey emotions and attitudes, and can be used to influence or persuade listeners.
Vocal cues plus facial expressions, gestures and changes in posture can combine to make specific points to an audience.
Overall, vocal cues are an important aspect of communication and can help convey meaning, emotions, and intentions in speech.
Know and use Vocal Cues in your presentations and I guarantee they will be absolutely, positively – NO SWEAT!

The post VOCAL CUES Are Important Because . . . appeared first on NO SWEAT Public Speaking!.“All you can do is all you can do but all you can do is enough.” A.L. Williams.
Use This Self-Talk when negative comments come your way: “I’VE GOT THIS!”
However, and this is important, listen to and read those negative comments. We can always improve our presentations. If someone has taken time to comment, their remarks should be reviewed. It’s little things that can make a BIG difference, and this is an opportunity to improve.
Actually, those, “Love your talk!” comments feel good, but don’t offer the perspective negative ones do. “The road to perfection never ends.”
In Toastmasters, many consider the most important part of a meeting to be the evaluations of the speakers. If an evaluator fails to give any suggestions for improvement it is called a “white wash.’” This offers no help to the speaker who knows they can always do better and are looking for suggestions.
If you’ve done the work and individuals thank you for your talk, I guarantee there are many more who leave the venue saying nothing.
By the same token, if several diss your presentation, others feel the same way and, perhaps they were being polite, and didn’t say anything.
Prepare – Prepare – Prepare and I guarantee your next presentation will be absolutely, positively – NO SWEAT!

The post Everyone is NOT Going to Like Your Presentation! appeared first on NO SWEAT Public Speaking!.Yes, you do have something important to communicate. You practiced in your mind’s eye, out loud, and maybe even recorded yourself.
You start to raise your hand, but . . . You don’t.
That has happened to me, more than once, and I’ll bet you’ve had similar experiences.
More often than not, it’s the “Fear of Public Speaking!” that’s held you back from delivering your message. That’s a problem for many. However, it can be overcome by:
Here’s My Personal Story My wife and I recently completed a group tour of Ireland. Our tour director was incredible. I decided when the time was correct, I wanted to recognize his many skills in front of everyone.
There was a dinner the last night of the tour. After the director made a few remarks and said, “The servers will go around the tables and get your orders, “I knew the time was NOW!
As I “dinged” the guests to attention with a spoon striking a glass, I rose to my feet and proclaimed, “Before we get started, I want to propose a toast to our tour director, Sean Collins!” The audience immediately applauded.
I continued, “Sean, this is the fifth tour my wife, Beverly, and I have been on with your company. We’ve also traveled with several other firms. Without a doubt, YOU, are the best tour director we have ever had.
Your knowledge, presentation of that knowledge, personal generosity, great sense of humor, and captivating singing made a good tour – SPECTACULAR!”
The ensuing applause from my fellow travelers and ear-to-ear smile on Sean’s face affirmed I had hit a home run with my toast. Priceless!
What do you want to SPEAK about?
