Submit ReviewWe're all over the board on topics today. Thanks to two helpful listeners for helping us understand Delta's standby list. In a word, it's useless. However, as they increase their overbooking strategy, you can get paid cash to take a later flight. A lot of cash.
We're also digging into Ed's Hawaii planning as well, though he's nowhere near done planning the trip.
And, we're both very perplexed by the story of Silver Airways potentially getting kicked out of their home airport.

At the same time, Capital One continues it's quest for death by a thousand cuts. They've eliminated some valuable redemption options from Capital One Shopping. Has this platform, once valuable, shifted from "cash back" to "assorted gift cards you might find valuable"?
Lastly, Lufthansa has brought the A380 back!

We have a special guest this week who hasn't been on the show in quite some time. And, like most bougie former Los Angeles residents, even has a podcasting couch that he seems pretty attached to. Zach Abel from Monkey Miles joins the show to talk about some incredible award redemptions he was able to make recently. We're definitely jealous of his travel.
Richard also drops a really awesome announcement on us. Bilt has a new partnership with Lyft. Folks who don't have the Bilt Rewards Mastercard can earn two points per dollar on Lyft rides just for linking their Bilt and Lyft accounts. And, if you have the Bilt card you'll earn five points per dollar on all Lyft rides. You can read more about the partnership here.

Richard is fired up today. He has a 1099 from Capital One and he can't quite figure out why the amount is so high. Is he going to waste his time calling Cap One to figure it out?
Virgin Atlantic is offering 30% off award flights from certain destinations and it's a pretty solid list.
And, we're digging in to Peter King's favorite and least favorite airports. Peter King, author of the incredible Football Morning in America column, has some solid (and not so solid) opinions on the best and worst airports.

There's a Delta Flash Sale that falls under a new header for mileage redemption. "Look, but don't touch!"
Costco has some pretty solid travel deals right now including a really good package to Universal Orlando.
And, we're recapping the final part of Richard's trip, including Disneyland Paris and our horrible pronunciation of Hyatt Regency Paris L'etoile. Oh, and the Air France business class experience that still has us scratching our heads.

Delta was the first to raise their status requirements. United followed, though technically this is just them reinstating the requirements they announced in 2019. Still, the price to earn elite status is going up. Way up.
Delta SkyClubs have been overcrowded for quite some time. Now, Delta is rolling out a "solution" that has Ed so fired up he needs to borrow Richard's soapbox.

Richard is literally flying blind for this week's episode.
Delta has raised their elite status qualificaiton requirements for earning status in 2023 (towards travel in 2024). The new numbers are pretty painful. We're discussing those changes as well as Hilton's return to the pre-pandemic levels for elite qualification.
We also discuss an issue with Cap One transfers as reported by Award Wallet. This issue does appear to have been resolved, but something to watch out for.
Lastly, a listener has an interesting question. They'll probably be disappointed by our answer.

We take some time to do a deep dive into my Amsterdam and London trip. Flight reviews, hotel reviews and some touristy stuff is all thrown in there.

We're covering a bunch of topics this week.
Capital One is having a rough go of it right now. All of their transfer partners have been "down for maintenance" all week. And, they're still down as of this recording. We've also got multiple examples of painful fraud prevention methods.
There's also a number of new Chase card bonuses that folks are targeted for. Be sure to check your cards!
The 4th quarter Chase Freedom bonus categories are out with PayPal and Walmart included.

After we catch up on the final week of Richard's Hawaii trip you'll hear a whole bunch of Bilt dings!
Bilt announced a new ongoing promotion where Bilt Rewards members who hold their credit card can earn double points on the first day of the month on all non-rent spend.
What's really unique is that Bilt is also doubling all the bonus categories. That means 6 points per dollar on dining, 4 points on travel and 2 points on everything else.
Meanwhile, Marriott has a number of changes to their credit card profile. Pretty much all of them are confusing. We're breaking down the changes and, as always, offering our opinions.
We're also still holding our giveaway for free lifetime Flighty membership. Check out last week's episode for details.
You can enter to win both memberships, so be sure to check out our second giveaway as well.
Lastly, we catch up with Richard in Hawaii after his Aulani stay. Did he love it? Did he hate it? I listened to him describe it and I'm still not entirely sure.

I discovered an incredible new app. It's all the nerdy tools I've used over the years without any of the work. Flighty is an app that wraps it all up for you.
There's plenty of stuff crammed into the free version but the paid version is even better. We're interviewing the founder of Flighty on today's show.
And, we're giving away 2 lifetime memberships to Flighty Pro, worth $250 each! Flighty Pro was nice enough to donate one and we're going to buy another lucky winner a membership as well.
We talked about it during the show, but if you download the app and navigate to the "Help & Feedback" screen, then click on "Say Hi" and tell them you heard about Flighty from the Miles to Go podcast.

I'm constantly getting asked by listeners how we travel the way that we do. We're lucky enough to have both Summer and Julian on the show this week to talk about some of the tricks we use to travel the way we do without breaking the bank.
And, the best part of the episode may be Julian impersonating Richard in his absence.

We are all over the board. Ed did something stupid and he's dealing with a problem caused by Delta Vacations. Did he get enough compensation? Richard Kerr is mad about $27 beers at airports. Delta is rolling back negative changes just a week after they rolled it out. And, we're going to talk about the 50 new Hyatt all-inclusive properties you can book right now, and earn 5,000 bonus points.

We're recording from New Orleans the morning after the Freddie Awards and both Richard Kerr are on the struggle bus. Not to mention a podcast listener gives me the most backhanded and hilarious compliment of the year.
If you didn't tune in last week, make sure you catch our breakdown on the new IHG One Rewards program.
Now, we're answering the question of who should get the IHG Premier Credit Card. We're also recapping the Freddie Awards (spoiler alert: my voice is shot and I'm exhausted).

We're talking mainly about Hyatt and American AIrlines today and Richard Kerr is back in the saddle with me.
Hyatt started adding new all-inclusive properties to the award chart, with an anticipated 50 to come in the next month. We take a look at the value proposition in relation to redeeming your points at one of these newly added properties.
And, as points and miles nerds, we love the double-dip opportunities. Right now, you can earn miles on American Airlines, points on Marriott and make progress to elite status on American from your Uber rides.
We also answer some listener questions on Las Vegas that are a follow-up to our deep dive on Vegas with Michael Trager.

First up, Richard talks about the relaunch of the Bilt Rewards Mastercard. Now that it's issued by Wells Fargo everyone can apply. If you use my link to apply I do earn a small amount of referral credit.
Wyndham Rewards is on the docket this week. Don't sleep on Wyndham, there are some distinct advantages to the program. I had a really great stay using Wyndham points recently and continue to be impressed with the strides the program has made.
We're also talking about Delta making award tickets account. Delta announced that award tickets will count towards elite status permanently. A feature they rolled out during the pandemic is here to stay and we discuss why it's a plus for members.

You can find more details on his website.
And, we're also talking all things Vegas. Michael and I are both in Vegas tons of times each year and share our favorite restaurants, hotels, casinos and more. If you want to learn more about Vegas check out Michael's Facebook group.

Apparently Ed touched a nerve this week. A simple question about what are the most valuable points and miles caused Twitter to go biblical on Ed. All because Richard Kerr didn't give Miles to Go an exclusive on the new Bilt Rewards transfer partners. One of them is pretty awesome.
We also touch base on Capital One car insurance, Ed's favorite hotel in New Orleans and what we think is the most valuable point/mile currency.

We dig into Richard's trip delay claim this week with some great tips to save you from the pitfalls of these sorts of claims.
I had a great Hilton stay this week. Being a hotel elite status free agent is definitely liberating.
We've got some more feedback on the Capital One Travel portal.

We've seen our fair share of lawsuits in the travel world over the past couple of decades, largely airlines or hotels using the legal system to protect their interests. However, I was definitely surprised to see The Points Guy suing American Airlines over a dispute over information displayed in the TPG app.
We've got two special guests this week!
First, Brian Kelly, the founder of The Points Guy, joins us to offer up his perspective on why they filed a suit against American Airlines.
After that, we're joined by Gary Leff of View From The Wing. Gary offers his perspective on both sides of the disagreement and offers his opinion on what we could expect to see in the future.
Don't worry. We'll have a full regular episode ready to drop on Wednesday like each and every week. But, we wanted to take this opportunity to bring you an inside look at this developing dispute.

I'm talking about the mess that is travel right now with Richard Kerr.
I wrote a detailed piece about how crazy the world of travel actually is right now. It's just an absolute mess.
We're answering listener questions as well and I've got some details to report back on in regards to 10X points posting on Capital One Venture X card.

Crazy day to be podcasting! Since Richard Kerr and I recorded this episode less than 48 hours ago we had to pull a segment out where we discussed the new Chase Ink Premier card. The details are murky at best and we'll report back as soon as we have a clearer picture.

Holy cow! We made it to 200 episodes. There are so many people to thank for getting us this far.
But, the person to thank the most is you. If you're reading this you're one of the nearly million folks that have tuned into an episode of the Miles to Go podcast. To me, that's pretty darn cool!
Richard Kerr is back with me this week and we're talking about the new Venture X card from Capital One. A 100,000 point sign-up bonus is pretty awesome!
On top of that, we spent a day last week doing an incredible challenge raising a bunch of money for an incredible charity.
We ran for 20 miles and for 15 hours across all the parks at Disney World. We've raised almost $20,000 for critically-ill children to have an incredible vacation with their family at no expense to them. I hope you'll consider a small donation. Here's the link!

First up, we're talking about 3 incredible Southwest credit card offers. Hitting the sign-up bonus on one of these cards gets you almost to a companion pass, and at the perfect time of year. We'll tell you how to earn one of the most valuable travel perks for 2 years!
Then, I sat down with Nick from Frequent Miler on Moskito Island. We had fun podcasting from the pool!

Big changes in the travel world this week and not all of it is good.
Richard Kerr is back with us and he's not alone. Returning to the show are Julian Kheel of CNN Underscored and Summer Hull of The Points Guy.
First, the gang discusses the Marriott changes. Marriott plans to move away from award charts completely, scrambling the landscape on what your Bonvoy points are worth.
Meanwhile, American Airlines is reimagining their loyalty program. TLDR, this might be good news for you. Here's an easy way to understand the changes.

I've had some crazy travel experiences over the years but spending a weekend on a private island was honestly never something I thought I would achieve.
Then, out of left field Richard Kerr invited me to spend the weekend on Moskito Island, a private island owned by Sir Richard Branson in the British Virgin Islands.
International travel is messy right now and we cover all the hoops we had to jump through on this adventure.
We also talk about my application for the Bilt Rewards Mastercard and why it may just be the best no-fee credit card out there right now.
If you're thinking about signing up for the Bilt Rewards Mastercard, use code PIM4BILT to skip the waitlist.
Note: I don't earn a penny if you sign up for the Bilt Rewards Mastercard. I did visit their private island but paid my own way to get there. TLDR, sign up for the Bilt card because I think it's great, not because I'm earning money by you signing up.

I desperately wanted to name the episode "We don't care about that crap". You'll have to listen to figure out why!
The Canadian border opened up recently and we drove up to visit family. It was over 40 hours of total driving. We learned a bunch about the new process for crossing the border (spoiler alert: it's complicated). We also snuck across a provincial border without really knowing we were doing that.
Richard Kerr and I are discussing all of the details.
We're also talking $27 airport beers and why Richard disagrees with some conventional wisdom on credit card perks.
