It's Lauren's final episode of Locked On Red Sox and the Boston Red Sox couldn't send her off with good news.
Despite winning the series against the Padres, San Diego salvaged a 7-0 win Sunday at Petco Park after taking advantage of Corey Kluber, who struggled once again in his start for the Red Sox. Manager Alex Cora confirmed Kluber would make his next start, and Lauren thinks she may know why that is.
Lauren also looks at the pitching including Nick Pivetta coming out of the bullpen as well as the offense getting completely stonewalled by the Padres pitching -- including old friend Michael Wacha.
This episode ends with the mental health minute with Lauren expressing her thanks for the last two years as the host of the show!

The Boston Red Sox officially won the series against the San Diego Padres with a 4-2 win at Petco Park on Saturday night.
Lauren goes over another strong start from Chris Sale, who turned in seven innings with eight strikeouts, and how Kiké Hernández played a big role twice with two big plays at shortstop. Later, Lauren looks at how Enmanuel Valdez has been a bright spot for Boston after another strong night at the plate and explains why the trade -- which included Christian Vázquez -- is looking like a win for the Red Sox.
The show ends with some positive injury updates on Adam Duvall and Yu Chang. Plus, an update on Garrett Whitlock and when he'll be activated to the MLB roster and what that means for the rest of the pitchers.

Lauren Willand starts the show that way and discusses why it's the right move for the Red Sox at this time, but also knows more decisions need to be made as Garrett Whitlock prepares for his return.

The Boston Red Sox won the series against the Toronto Blue Jays in an 8-3 victory at Fenway Park on Wednesday with one game left in the set.
NESN’s Lauren Willand looks at the win and how the offense performed well as it continues to heat up at the plate. Lauren highlights Triston Casas — who broke an 0-for-11 slump with a big night at the plate — and how Alex Cora’s willingness to stick with the rookie has paid off (remember Dustin Pedroia all those years back?). Lauren also highlights Masataka Yoshida as he continues to be a force at the plate.
In the second segment of the Locked On Red Sox podcast, Lauren turns to the pitching. Nick Pivetta was at his best, despite a balk (that wasn’t really a balk) that gave the Blue Jays a one-run lead, Chris Martin had a great outing and Kutter Crawford left early due to hamstring tightness.
Lauren ends the show with the mental health minute!

Iggy and Corbin then debate what the rotation will look like after James Paxton returns and predict which moves will be made when players return from injury.

Boston Red Sox were riding high from the Brewers series but got brought down to Earth by the Baltimore Orioles in Game 1 of the series. Chris Sale looked like his early season form instead of the dominance that he showed against the Twins which hurt the Red Sox's chance to win after he blew the team's 4-run lead. In other news, Brayan Bello was demoted, while a lefty reliever was promoted. Yu Chang could also possibly be placed on the IL, so that brings up the question of who will replace him.
WooSox Production & Content Assistant Jake Ignaszewski is joined by Nat Gordon aka Gordo to break down the tough loss to the O's. Gordo and Iggy look into what went wrong for Chris Sale and the inconsistency of multiple pitchers in this rotation. They then look into the improved offensive production from Masataka Yoshida and discuss why they hope a like Triston Casas can show similar consistent success as well.
Lastly, Jake and Gordo react to the Bello demote and debate who could be sent down next as well as who could replace Yu Chang if he's injured.

The Red Sox have won three straight series after just winning the series 2 to 3 versus the Milwaukee Brewers. This was fueled by the Red Sox offense and that department showed out on Sunday. Brayan Bello made his second start of the season during that blowout while Garrett Whitlock started the only loss of the series.

Red Sox aren't able to complete the four-game sweep against the Angels on Marathon Monday but came close to coming back. Brayan Bello made his season debut and it didn't go as most hoped. After struggling last week, the Red Sox go back to their winning ways this weekend versus the Los Angeles Angels and win 3 games in a row. Maybe the Yellow/Blue jerseys helped with that. Even if not, those jerseys helped us remember the tragic Boston Marathon bombing that occurred 10 years ago. That anniversary was celebrated over the weekend along with the 2013 World Series team. Outside of the winning, there were also a lot of roster moves made by the team over the last few days.
WooSox Production & Content Assistant Jake Ignaszewski breaks down all the roster moves made by the Red Sox over the last few days and explains why there could be more coming with Bello and Paxton making their way back soon from injury. Iggy then shares his reactions to the 2013 World Series team being honored over the weekend and breaks downs each game against the Angels from these few days.
Lastly, Iggy does a mental health minute.

The Boston Red Sox dropped their first game of the series 1-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night, but there were positives to take away from it.
NESN's Lauren Willand and Jake Ignaszewski look at the 1-0 loss to open the series, but discuss how well Nick Pivetta pitched and how well the pitching did as a whole to keep the still-undefeated Rays' bats cold through seven-plus innings for the first time this season.

The Boston Red Sox completed a three-game sweep of the Detroit Tigers this weekend, but it didn't come without cost.
NESN's Lauren Willand discusses the Adam Duvall injury that occurred Sunday in the bottom of the ninth inning that caused him to leave early and get X-Rays. The injury prompted Bobby Dalbec to join the Red Sox ahead of their series against the Tampa Bay Rays on the road. Lauren goes into how Duvall's injury will cause some shuffling among the team -- which might not be a bad idea given Kiké Hernández's struggles at shortstop early this season.
Lauren then goes into the good of this series and talks about how the pitching and offense came alive for a sweep. Kutter Crawford and Chris Sale looked good, while Ryan Brasier continued to prove he can't be trusted.
To end Locked On Red Sox, Lauren provides some positive updates on Brayan Bello and James Paxton.

Are the Boston Red Sox underrated this year?
NESN’s Lauren Willand and Jake Ignaszewski look at the Locked On power rankings for all 30 MLB teams this year. The Red Sox came in at No. 21 and the two wonder whether that’s too low, and also look at a few teams that were ranked higher than the Red Sox that probably should have been ranked a tad lower.
Lauren and Jake then look at Masataka Yoshida’s strong World Baseball Classic after Team Japan took down Team USA in the WBC championship game, and Chris Sale's latest spring training start.
Later, ESPN’s Eduardo Perez and Karl Ravech answered Jake’s question and they bring up the Red Sox as an underrated team.

Tanner Houck, like many of his Boston Red Sox teammates, has a lot to prove coming into the 2023 MLB season and he's ready to do so.
NESN's Lauren Willand discusses what Houck's role could be for the Red Sox and how him coming into the new season with a "chip on my shoulder" is a good thing -- especially if he feels comfortable with a third pitch and fully healthy after back surgery -- because he wants to bounce back and be a contributing factor to this team.
Later Lauren talks about Bryan Mata with Alex Cora telling reporters the top pitching prospect likely will be part of the Red Sox in 2023 at some point. Then Lauren goes into the interesting story of Noah Song -- who was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies from the Red Sox in the 2022 Rule 5 Draft -- and how he no longer is active in the Navy and will report to camp for Philly. However, there is a scenario in which he can return to the Red Sox.

With many Red Sox players rocking the stache this offseason, Jake Ignaszewski brings up the idea of making the 2023 theme "Fear the Stache" similar to the "Fear the Beard" theme that the 2013 Red Sox team had.
Iggy also looks at the most recent trade the team made to send reliever Matt Barnes to the Miami Marlins for reliever Richard Bleier. He looks into how Bleier brings balance to the bullpen and fills the left-handed pitching need the team has been seeking over the past week. Jake then shares the Twitter reaction from the audience of the deal and explains his confusion for how the Red Sox are handling their 40-man roster this offseason.

The Boston Red Sox could use some left-handed help in their bullpen.
Jake Ignaszewski and NESN's Lauren Willand discuss some potential options the Red Sox could look into, including Matt Moore and Andrew Chafin. The Red Sox reportedly have "checked in" on Moore, but it's unclear if anything will come of it.
Lauren and Jake discuss other options like Zack Britton and who else remains on the free agent market that could provide that left-handed depth.

Just as Jake and Lauren hit record for today's Locked On Red Sox episode, the Red Sox dropped some news.
The Boston Red Sox designated Matt Barnes for assignment in order to make room for Adam Duvall on the 40-man roster Tuesday night. Jake Ignaszewski and NESN's Lauren Willand immediately react to the news to start the show and wonder why it could have been Barnes over Ryan Brasier or Kaleb Ort.
Later, Jake and Lauren recap the Red Sox Winter Weekend and how the crowd showered Chaim Bloom, John Henry and Sam Kennedy with boos throughout the Town Hall. The two look at why (deservedly) feel that way and why the front office should have expected what was thrown their way.
Lauren and Jake also discuss the trade the Red Sox made Tuesday which sent Josh Taylor to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Adalberto Mondesi and a player to be named later.

Taylor Broadway was the player to be named later in the Jake Diekman trade last season that brought Broadway to the Boston Red Sox organization.
NESN's Lauren Willand sits down with Broadway to talk about his journey to baseball -- from not getting an offer after high school, to getting a chance before his freshman year of his college that led to him getting drafted by the Chicago White Sox. The two also discuss the day he learned he was traded to the Red Sox, what he's working on this offseason and his goals for the 2023 season with the Portland Sea Dogs. Broadway shined for Portland last season, being nearly unhittable against opponents.

As the offseason winds down, the Red Sox continue to add depth to their 2023 roster by signing outfielders Adam Duvall and Raimel Tapia as well as catcher Jorge Alfaro. Duvall's deal is a major league contract while Tapia and Alfaro's are minor league contracts but all these players could make an impact on the major league roster at some point throughout the 2023 season.
NESN's Lauren Willand and Jake Ignaszewski begin by breaking down Adam Duvall's deal and looking at what he'll bring to the Red Sox. Jake and Lauren look deep into the statistics on what made him one of the best hitters in the NL and what he was able to do with the Braves during an injury-riddled 2022 season. Then they look at why he could be a good fit in center field due to his past experience and what clubhouse presence he could bring with his experiences playing big moments such as winning a World Series with the Braves in 2021.
Jake and Lauren then shift their attention to Raimel Tapia, which some may remember hit the inside-the-park grand slam with the Blue Jays last season due to Jarren Duran's embarrassing error. They look at what depth Tapia will bring to the major league or minor league team and if this signing could potentially create a Tapia vs Duran Spring Training battle for the fourth or fifth spot in the outfield. Lastly, Jake and Lauren discuss the signing of catcher Jorge Alfaro and look at his success in the Dominican Winter League and explain what he could bring to the team.

The Boston Red Sox made Rafael Devers' 10-year contract extension official, but it was Chaim Bloom who had a message for fans before it started.
NESN's Lauren Willand goes over some important details from Devers' press conference, including Tom Werner showing face, and discusses how John Henry played a role in helping get the deal done. It sounds as if the Red Sox do indeed want to build a team around Devers now that he's locked up for the foreseeable future.
Later, Lauren dives into Chaim Bloom's message to fans, which he had prepared after introductory statements were made at Devers' press conference. Lauren explains why -- even though it did seem heartfelt -- seemed too little too late.
Locked On Red Sox continues with going over who the Red Sox avoided arbitration with and tries to explain why Ryan Brasier remains on this roster.
Lauren concludes the show with the mental health minute with a stick tap to Boston Bruins center David Krejci.

The offseason got a lot worse for the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday when they announced Trevor Story underwent surgery on his throwing elbow.
NESN's Lauren Willand looks at the surgery, discusses a potential timeline (the Red Sox did not give an official one) and how this only makes the lineup and middle infield weaker.
Lauren also looks at some of Chaim Bloom's comments after it was announced Story underwent the operation and where the Red Sox go from here.

The Boston Red Sox still have some holes to fill before the 2023 MLB season begins, and that includes finding some extra power for their lineup.
NESN's Lauren Willand and Jake Ignaszewski look at a few potential players who are available via trade or on the free agent market and discuss whether they'd be a good fit for the Red Sox. While they agree on some, there are a few in particular Lauren does not want to see in a Red Sox uniform. Jake then reads some listeners opinions on who they'd bring in for a power bat.

The Red Sox rumor mill has been swirling over the last month and the one team that keeps coming up is the Miami Marlins. The Marlins have reportedly made four of their starting pitchers available and are interested in trading for Triston Casas if a trade with the Red Sox happens. Miami also has two players that could potentially fill the Red Sox's void at shortstop.
NESN's Lauren Willand and Jake Ignaszewski evaluate four players that the Red Sox would possibly have interest in if they made a trade with the Marlins including Pablo Lopez, Edward Cabrera, Jesus Luzardo and Miguel Rojas. Jake and Lauren break down how these players perform during 2022 and what they could bring to the Red Sox if they were acquired.
Jake and Lauren then dive into what players the Marlins could command in a trade and also react to who our Twitter audience would feel comfortable trading. They then discuss what players each of them would be comfortable trading for one of these players from the Marlins and who would be their "untouchables."
Lastly, Jake and Lauren touch on the Damar Hamlin situation in football and discuss the importance of taking advantage of every second with your loved ones.

The Boston Red Sox made a move that surely will make fans happy when they agreed to an 11-year deal with Rafael Devers on Wednesday night!
ESPN's Joon Lee joins NESN's Lauren Willand and Jake Ignaszewski to talk how the deal came to be -- especially after he wrote the two sides were "galaxies apart" just over two weeks ago -- and if there was any pressure on the Red Sox to get this done ASAP especially given how everything played out with Xander Bogaerts.
Joon also discusses what players Red Sox fans should look out for during the 2023 season, what the starting rotation will look like and where he believes the Red Sox will finish when all is said and done after 162 games.

With the New Year of 2023 still sinking in, we wanted to look at the AAA affiliate for the Red Sox which is located in the heart of the Commonwealth in Worcester. Jake Ignaszewski is joined by WooSox play by play broadcaster Tyler Murray and they reflect on last season while also looking forward to this next season. Iggy and Tyler begin by talking about the NHL Winter Classic and Fenway Park and give their reactions to the Bruins player wearing old-school Red Sox uniforms. With the New Year comes a new Locked On Red Sox episode with a new positive perspective going into 2023. With all the negativity surrounding the Boston Red Sox, Jake Ignaszewski and NESN's Lauren Willand try to start this year on a positive note and look at what should excite fans going into this next season. Since there are a lot of question marks and what-ifs, Jake and Lauren dive into why that unknown should excite fans because of the possibility that it all works out better than most expected. They then look at what young players could bring a lot of excitement to the clubhouse and who deserves a potential long-term extension.
While this team has youth, it also got older but Lauren and Jake explain why the veterans on the team could make a big impact on the success of this team. Then they break down which players could break onto the scene with a quality performance in Spring Training and how the remaining moves the team makes before Opening Day could dictate a lot of different possibilities.
Lastly, Jake and Lauren share what excites the audience from Twitter.

It's our final episode of 2022!
To close out the year, NESN's Lauren Willand and Jake Ignaszewski discuss the Boston Red Sox agreeing to terms on a contract with pitcher Corey Kluber. The two discuss how the rotation still has a lot of "what ifs" in it while also talking about what Kluber -- though not the two-time Cy Young Award winner he once was -- can bring to the Red Sox.
The two talk about Nathan Eovaldi signing with the Texas Rangers and wonder if the Red Sox knew they wouldn't re-sign him, then why wouldn't Boston trade him at the deadline? Lauren and Jake also look at what he and Rich Hill leave behind.
Lauren and Jake read some answers about how listeners are feeling about the 2023 season and the Red Sox as a whole as we approach the new year and share some of their personal ambitions for next year!

As the year 2022 comes to an end, we do what most people do going into a new year and come up with our New Year's resolutions for the Boston Red Sox.
Jake Ignaszewski and NESN's Lauren Willand begin the episode by sharing their awkward exchanges with family members during the holiday weekend talking about the rough past month for the Red Sox and express their hope that the new year brings some good news. Hopefully these New Year's resolutions do the trick! They start out by addressing the questions of the middle infield and talk about the options that are still out on the market to fill in the second base/shortstop need. Then they go into the biggest topic of the offseason outside of Xander Bogaerts and stress the extension of Rafael Devers.
After letting off some steam talking about those two topics, they shift their focus to the need for another arm in the Red Sox rotation and talk about the possibility of the team resigning Nathan Eovaldi (this was before we saw the report of Eovaldi signing with Texas) and Michael Wacha. Then while they're finishing off the resolutions by stressing the need for a plan and direction for this team, they found out about Nathan Eovaldi signing with the Texas Rangers and give their instant reaction.

The Boston Red Sox made a move this offseason, but it only added to the plethora of questions facing this team.
Justin Turner reportedly agreed to terms on a deal with the Red Sox, and while he primarily will be the team's designated hitter, many pointed out he indeed is a third baseman.
NESN's Lauren Willand looks at the deal as a good thing and explains why Turner's versatility and depth will be a good thing for the Red Sox. Later, Lauren also looks into the reports of Rafael Devers and the Red Sox being "galaxies apart," while breaking down Sam Kennedy's recent tone-deaf comments about being frustrated over comments about the Red Sox not being committed to winning.
Ass always the show ends with the mental health minute!
