Tons of news came our way Tuesday.
The biggest came internally on the roster as young, up and coming catcher Endy Rodriguez is slated to have UCL surgery and will miss the entirety of the 2024 season. Pair that with the Johan Oviedo news we received earlier this off-season, and it may be time to evaluate the Pirates goals differently for next season.
Along with that, the Pirates made another signing, bringing in Rowdy Tellez on a major league deal. Tellez's performance in 2023 left much to be desired, but if he can rekindle some of his 2022 form, did the Pirates find a cost effective diamond in the rough?
Finally, it was announced Wednesday that the Pirates will now be apart of SportsNet Pittsburgh alongside the Pittsburgh Penguins. What does this mean moving forward and what dots need connected to fully understand the way we'll watch the Pirates short-term?

Johan Oviedo accomplished something that is rare for the Pittsburgh Pirates and MLB. His complete game shutout of the Kansas City Royals shows why Oviedo is a big part of the Pirates future. The game also showed a weakness for the Pirates.
