We’re dropping in your feed today to let you know about a new Lemonada Media series, DISCARDED. DISCARDED tells the story of a modern-day Erin Brockovich, set on the Mississippi River in an area known as “Cancer Alley.” Her name is Sharon Lavigne, her community is St. James Parish in Louisiana, and her fight is to keep out one of the largest plastic manufacturing companies in the world. In this investigative four-part series, hosted by Emmy award-winning journalist Gloria Riviera, we unwrap the complex world of plastic through the lens of Sharon's story. Because plastic is everywhere - it has advanced our world, but it has damaged our environment. So, we take a look at what’s next for all of us and how we can learn from communities like St. James to make a difference in our own backyards.
In this clip of episode one, you’ll be introduced to The Sunshine Project, which is a $9.4 billion proposed petrochemical plan that would sprawl across 2,400 acres of St. James Parish, Louisiana, pushing up against the community that has lived and died there for generations. Lifelong resident Sharon Lavigne becomes an accidental activist after trying to save her community and its history.
This series is presented in partnership with Only One, the action platform for the planet. Only One is on a mission to restore ocean health and tackle the climate crisis in this generation — with your help. Visit only.one to learn more and get involved.

We’re dropping in your feed today to let you know about a new Lemonada Media Series. In the 1990s, a generation of kids, teens, and young adults got home, kicked off their sneakers, and settled down in front of the TV to watch Ricki Lake. Hosted by Ricki herself alongside TV personality and digital creator Kalen Allen, Raised By Ricki revisits the 90s iconic talk show, The Ricki Lake Show, and the era to which it belonged.
Part rewatch podcast, part cultural retrospective, and mostly hilarious, join Ricki and Kalen each week along with cultural icons like John Waters, Rosie O’Donnell, and Andy Cohen, past producers, former guests, former audience members and more.
You may remember her from “The Flintstones” or even the OG “A League of Their Own.” Three years after The Ricki Lake Show first aired, Rosie O’Donnell made her talk show debut. The Rosie O’Donnell Show featured the likes of Tom Cruise and Madonna, where she was known for her authenticity and quirky sense of humor. Rosie joins Ricki and Kalen to talk about her old show, witnessing 9/11, motherhood, and coming out after leaving the daytime circuit.

The producers of this series wanted to share Lemonada Media’s new release with you. It’s called Uncared For. You’re more likely to die as a pregnant person in the United States than any other wealthy nation in the world. Why? This six-part series, hosted by award-winning journalist SuChin Pak (Add to Cart, MTV News), takes a deeply personal and wide-ranging look at maternal health care around the globe to find the answer. We start in the United States then travel to Germany, the Netherlands, and Costa Rica to see what works and what desperately needs to change.
In the first episode of Uncared For, we’ll hear from health equity researchers, birth providers – like the postpartum doula who was there for SuChin – and Black mothers who have been dismissed and misdiagnosed in our broken system of care. How did our system end up like this? And what does this crisis tell us about how our healthcare system stacks up globally?

The producers of this series would like to share with you another series they know you’ll love. BEING is reality TV for your ears, an innovative new audio format like no other podcast you've ever heard. This season, it’s BEING Golden -- a look inside the lives of four 60+ seniors living in LA.
Meet Buzz, a 71-year-old former sales and marketing executive who drastically uprooted his life by moving out west to Los Angeles to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming an actor -- even if it means taking a job as a rideshare driver to make ends meet, and despite objections from his adult kids. And meet Gloria, a 71-year-old retiree with a past as spicy as her personality. As she looks back on her dating history, is it time to finally open a new chapter and look for love (or just a good time) by diving into the dating app scene?

The producers of this series wanted to share a funny show with you about spectacular people who had a serious impact on society because they were FIRST! In each episode, host Kareem Rahma is joined by a different comedian to share the life story of a groundbreaking person who broke down a racial barrier. Hilarity ensues as our comedic guests interrupt Kareem, derailing his story with lively banter, witty jokes, and amusing personal anecdotes.
On this episode, we are joined by the hilarious, the athletic, the Greek by blood but not by accent, stand-up comedian and actress Alyssa Limperis! And today, I’m going to tell her the story of one of the most legendary people in the arts: Maria Tallchief – a Native American woman who became America’s FIRST! prima ballerina.

The producers of this series wanted to share another Lemonada Media podcast with you. Every day, the world seems on the brink of crisis. Join Andy Slavitt and experts, policymakers, journalists and thought leaders to stay informed, safe and … entertained. As a White House advisor, author, crisis response leader, non-partisan counselor to policymakers here and abroad, Andy has been called the ultimate outsider’s insider for a reason. In the Bubble with Andy Slavitt has new episodes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
How bad will this winter’s COVID-19 wave be? That’s what Andy asks epidemiologist Katelyn Jetelina, who’s been watching Europe closely and combing through the data on new variants. She predicts that a winter wave is about 90% likely and explains her biggest worries – an Omicron subvariant called BQ.1.1 and a simultaneous flu wave with fewer masking requirements. She and Andy also discuss how the fall bivalent booster will hold up against new winter variants, why uptake is still so low, and how to plan for gatherings with friends and family this holiday season.

The producers of this series wanted to introduce you to another Lemonada listen, Funny Cuz It’s True with Elyse Myers. Each week on Funny Cuz It’s True, Elyse will be sitting down with her favorite creators, friends and comedians to find the stories that have stuck with them and changed their lives in small ways, and the not-so-funny moments that have become funny over time. She wants to know how they handled these situations and learned to laugh about them years later. How do they do it? Great question, she’d love to tell you.
Legendary actor and director Paul Feig joins Elyse for her very first episode. Note to listeners: he’s in a seven-piece suit, and Elyse is in sweatpants. It’s great. You'll hear all about her first kiss, and Paul's own awkward romances (like the ones that inspired his show "Freaks and Geeks”). Plus, Paul shares his experience writing for “The Office.” Elyse learns the creative process doesn’t really get easier, even after decades in the industry.

The Letter is a new original true crime podcast hosted by award-winning journalist Amy Donaldson. This 8-part narrative series tells the story of the brutal murder of Zachary Snarr, which took place in Salt Lake City, UT, on August 28, 1996. The Letter weaves a story of forgiveness, guilt, and what happens after the headlines die down and the real story begins.
On Zach Snarr’s last day alive, he got up early to help his father at work, he cleaned the kitchen for his mother and he made his sister laugh. But on August 28, 1996, the 18-year-old never came home from his date with Yvette Rodier at a reservoir outside of Salt Lake City. Instead, two police officers and a chaplain came to ring the bell. It was every parent’s nightmare, a devastating loss that rocked a community and shattered lives. But Zach’s mother, Sy Snarr, finds hope from a most unlikely place and it comes in the form of a weekly phone call. Get more information and photos on our website, theletterpodcast.com.

For far too long, the United States has put mental healthcare on the back burner. Through enormous advocacy and the initiation and rollout of the 988 hotline, a theoretical lifeline is now at the fingertips of every American. But in a country with a deep history of criminalizing mental health, will 988 live up to its potential? Today, Stephanie explores how 988 came to be, along with all the promise and peril it carries. Weekly special correspondent Zak Williams shares his personal mental health journey, how stigma impacted his father, Robin Williams, and how the actor’s death inspired him to become a mental health activist. We also meet Congressman Seth Moulton, mental health advocate Keris Myrick, Executive Director of the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline John Draper, and Director of the Sozosei Foundation Melissa Beck.

Thanks for tawking with me this season. For our final episode, I wanted to introduce you to one of my best friends. As an adult, it’s difficult to balance a career, kids, relationship, and social life. Add long distance to that list and the situation becomes harder to maintain. True friendships go through ups and downs yet still stand the test of time. What kind of friends are there and what purpose do they serve? How do you know when your friendship is worth the effort? Mary Sierra-Cordes and I tawk. But the conversation doesn’t end here.

I was the face of a reality TV show that was unlike anything we see on Bravo nowadays. There was no cheating, dramatic arguments or face-slapping. In fact, this was a wholesome show about a Jersey girl navigating love in the South. My dear friend and Bravo executive Leslie Farrell was with me through the entire journey. For decades, I have struggled with accepting certain parts of my body. I worry that as soon as I walk into a room, the first thing people notice about me is what I feel most vulnerable about. As women, we aren’t used to talking about our intimate body parts because those conversations aren’t normalized – they don't feel safe or relatable. Although we have similar anatomy, it all looks very different. And these differences are nothing to be ashamed about. So where do these insecurities stem from? Do all women battle with this? I still have so many tender but challenging memories of my early teenage years. The teasing from classmates. The body changes that everyone seemed to notice. The life-changing conversations that at first felt fleeting but have stuck with me since. Ann Wilson is undeniably talented. When I was a teenager, I would wait by the radio for her songs to be played and was just constantly blown away by the sheer power of this woman. Her voice alone allowed her to breakthrough as a female rockstar in a time that was dominated by men. With her newest album, Fierce Bliss, that power is coming through as strong as ever. Did she ever doubt herself? Where did she get all of her confidence? Ann Wilson and I tawk.

I’d like to start out with the caveat that I recorded this episode during the height of having COVID. It was so challenging to collect my thoughts and feel in control of anything. Which, oddly enough, is exactly how I feel going into this summer. It’s the first summer where I’ve planned almost nothing for my kids and where they are more autonomous than ever and I’m having a hard time with that. Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves to provide the perfect summers for our kids? Let’s tawk.

Then, a conversation with Jules Suzdaltsev, a Ukrainian-born journalist and creator of the hit TikTok show, “Good Morning, Bad News.” V and their news bestie discuss how Jules has navigated the ever-changing media landscape, why news outlets are censoring graphic content, and how citizen journalists are using social media to teach us about events like the war in Ukraine.

I think shame is something everybody experiences and carries. For me, it’s very different from embarrassment or guilt, even though guilt is oftentimes a byproduct of that shame. Some of us have found ourselves in uncomfortable or traumatic situations that have led to years of negative thoughts and feelings that later manifest themselves in unhealthy ways. But can we move past it all and live in the present for our own sake? To heal? Let’s tawk. Please be advised that this episode features conversations about sexual assault. Just in time for the holidays, we’re revisiting one of our all-time favorite episodes of Tell Me What to Do – Fighting Over Faith. At its very core, religion is about shared beliefs. Those beliefs can vary widely — like between Judaism and Islam — or largely overlap — like with Baptists and Methodists. Either way, disagreements over religion can be some of the hardest issues to resolve. In this episode, Jaime opens up about her religious journey from Judaism to Catholicism. Then, she answers questions from a listener who can’t agree with her partner about what religion to raise their children in, another who is struggling to come out as bisexual because of her faith, and a third who is fighting with her husband over what cemetery to be buried in.

Believe Her is true crime, upside down. In September 2017, young mom Nikki Addimando shot and killed her partner, Chris Grover. She was sentenced to nineteen years to life in prison for murder. Through rare access to police audio, a month-long trial, conversations with Nikki, and original reporting, journalist Justine van der Leun lays out the killing, the evidence, and the aftermath. As this six-part series unfolds, listeners will put together different pieces of a disturbing puzzle. One thing is clear: perception does not equal reality. Believe Her is a riveting chronicle that grapples with assumptions we make about domestic and sexual violence, the long reach of trauma, and the ways in which survival is criminalized, leaving us shocked at how far people will go to avoid seeing what's right in front of them.

This year has taken one hell of a toll — especially on our mental health. The pandemic. The divisive political culture. The social isolation. The bad boys. The gossipy girls. The ones who won’t commit. Arguing is an inevitable, even healthy, part of life with a partner. The disagreements can be small (you don’t agree on the best way to load the dishwasher) or they can be big (one of you wants to take a job across the country and the other wants to stay put). And they can be anywhere in between. This week Jaime talks about the ground rules she and Michael have for their disagreements. Then she chats with a woman who isn’t on the same page as her husband about having another child after miscarrying their triplets. Plus, a wife who wants to take an occasional vacation vs a husband who wants to save money. And a husband who can’t tell if his wife really wants to bring a friend into their bedroom.

We open Season 2 of Last Day with a tale of two Kevins. One is Sergeant Kevin Briggs, also known as the guardian of the Golden Gate Bridge. The other is Kevin Berthia, an Oakland native who drove to that bridge on March 11, 2005 with the intent of ending his life. This week, we tell the larger story behind a moment of intervention—what led up to it and what happened in the 15 years since. We’re also joined by Courtney Knowles, our advisor at the Jed Foundation (a nonprofit devoted to emotional health and suicide prevention), who’s here to poke holes in our narrative.

Bisexuality has slowly become more recognized and in the mainstream, but that doesn’t make it any less confusing. Internally, there’s a LOT going on and externally, it may not always feel safe to ask questions. But don’t worry, because Jaime is here. In this episode, she shares her own journey around her bisexuality. She also encourages a listener to explore her bisexual side before tying the knot in her hetero, monogamous relationship and gives advice to a listener in her 50s who isn’t comfortable talking with her family about her bisexuality.

If you struggle with body image issues, you aren’t alone. A recent study found 20%-40% of women are dissatisfied with their bodies. And of course there is a spectrum; wishing your nose was a little smaller is very different than having multiple rhinoplasties to “fix” it. This week Jaime gets into her history with body dysmorphia and disordered eating and chats with a listener who finds herself slipping back into her old eating disorder habits. Plus, a question about keeping up your self-esteem as you age.

"I'm sorry you feel that way." "You're overreacting." "You're acting crazy." These are some of the most commonly used gaslighting phrases. This week, Jaime defines gaslighting and answers a listener’s question about how narcissism and gaslighting are related. Plus, how to respond to a boss who is gaslighting you and rebuilding trust in yourself after being gaslit by a cheating husband.

There are plenty of life changes you can’t see coming. Having your kids grow up and leave the nest isn’t one of those changes, yet it still throws so many people for a loop. Jaime’s advice: don’t wait til they start studying for the SATs to plan for life after kids. She answers a question from a mom who feels lost now that her kids aren’t at home. Plus, dating tips for a father who wants to get back out there after devoting his life to his son.

Some people absolutely know they would leave if their partner cheated on them. Think “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood, for example. This episode is not for those people. In the first of two episodes about cheating, Jaime talks about the tough decision to stay in a relationship after infidelity. She calls up a listener who is struggling to break down the walls she put up after her husband had an affair. Plus, listener questions about keeping your partner’s infidelity a secret from friends and family and trying to get past the pain to a place of trust again.

There’s a difference between having a bad girl phase and being a bad girl. Having a bad girl phase can help you figure out who you are and what you like and don’t like. But it’s not a hall pass to treat people poorly or be reckless. This week Jaime talks about her evolution from The Jersey Devil, as she was known, to a wife and mom who still feels the bad girl pull. Plus listener questions from a concerned sister, someone who is considering a bad girl phase after a breakup and someone having a hard time forgiving herself for her bad girl past.

The line between what you do and who you are is getting more and more blurry. Work used to be something you did for a paycheck. Now, it’s how many of us define ourselves. And the pandemic has only made things more confusing. Millions have lost their jobs. Many of us are now working from home. Essential workers are more essential than ever before. This week Jaime connects with some listeners who need advice: Todd and Amanda want to know how to build their brand and Bethany feels stuck but needs a push from Jaime to take the next step.

Society tells us that family bonds are unbreakable -- that your sister should be your best friend, that you should call your mom several times a day just to chat. Well it's great when life works out like that. But the truth is, that often isn't the case. This week Jaime tackles the difficult topic of family estrangement with the help of therapist Melanie Storrusten. They go in-depth on Jaime’s own struggles with her mom and siblings -- which she traces back to the death of her dad when she was 17 years old -- and answer questions from listeners. Is it possible to cut off your mom without hurting her? What should you do if other people in your family shame you for creating boundaries for yourself? Plus, how to talk about your family in social situations if you are estranged from them.

We all have secrets. Some are small. Some are life-altering. Sometimes they’re about you; other times, someone else. Regardless, secrets are all around us and rarely talked about because….well, they’re secret. This week Jaime talks about the emotional toll of keeping secrets. She shares what it was like to go on a reality show and realize all her secrets weren’t going to be secrets anymore and answers questions from listeners. Should you tell your friend her husband is cheating? Should you tell your husband a secret about your own sexuality? Plus, Jaime advises a listener who started secretly smoking during COVID-19.

Most people are comfortable talking about death, but struggle with the aftermath – grief. As a society, we don’t give it the space, time, or messiness it deserves. As today’s guest says, people don’t want you to “get your sad on other people.” But talking about it is one way we can make it less awful. And if you can do the talking while laughing? Even better. This week Jaime is joined by Nora McInerny, author and host of the podcast Terrible, Thanks for Asking. They bond over their shared losses – both Jaime and Nora lost their fathers and experienced miscarriages – and offer advice to people who are in the thick of grieving someone or something. Plus, listener questions about staying in a marriage after the death of a child and grieving an incarcerated son.

Today, we are breaking the mold on a topic that touches everyone in some way: addiction. And it isn’t limited to drugs and alcohol like we’ve always thought. We can have addictions to food, sex, technology, work. The list of compulsive behaviors that yield potentially negative consequences is endless. This week Jaime is joined by Dr. Nzinga Harrison, a psychiatrist, addiction specialist, and host of the podcast In Recovery, who takes the shame out of the conversation and might just change the way you think about addiction forever. Jaime opens up about her lifelong struggle with body dysmorphia and gets a new perspective on her past history with cocaine. Together, they answer questions about what to do if your partner has a severe addiction and how to determine if you can live with the consequences of someone’s addiction.

We all pretty much know how to end relationships with romantic partners. But what do you do if you need to break up with a friend? One basic rule exists: Don’t ghost. It’s emotional warfare. Don’t do it. Jaime shares the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to ending friendships and answers your questions about moving on. Topics include what to do when your lives and interests start to drift apart and how to change your approach if you sense your friends aren’t responding to you anymore.

As a wise prophet once said, “mo money mo problems.” Not to quibble with Biggie, but money causes big problems whether you have a ton of it, not enough of it or if you’re anywhere in-between.
