This week Pip is joined by the warm, ace and uplifting actor JOHNNY HARRIS!
Johnny's been incredibly busy over the last few decades, as a quick glimpse at his storied IMDB page will display. So of course you can expect to hear a ton of good old fashioned acting chat right here. But on top of that, you'll also be treated to a ton of good old fashioned friendly and uplifting back and forth too. Johnny's interests and skills go beyond acting, so you'll hear about his boxing origins which fed into the film 'Jawbone', his music love which led him to meeting and working with his heroes (Whoever said "Don't meet your heroes" maaay have just had a terrible experience with theirs? Just a thought...), and just a proper full episode of awesomeness. Jump in and enjoy, you certainly shall.

This week Pip is joined by the excellent and hilarious comic JOHN KEARNS!
You might know John from his appearances on Taskmaster. You might know John from his memorable appearance on stage as a comedian (rocking the false teeth and wig). But here's a perfect chance to get to know John as the human behind it all, the master at the controls. It's a brilliant chat which covers all the ground you would hope for, but also offers some fascinating insight into what goes on behind the "mask" - and what is a "mask" anyway? Some really interesting ground for discussion but also all the tangents, fun and stray observations you would want too, including crowd and audience attitude, and cadence. Lotsa cadence. Lovely stuff - enjoy!

This week Pip is joined by veteran true crime comedy podcast trio DRUNK WOMEN SOLVING CRIME!
...of course the three women in question who form the trio have names - Taylor, Hannah and Catie - and all three are here to chat all things podcasts, origin stories and more! A lot more, by the way. It's a joy to hear the team catch up and talk about all the things that maybe even people who listen to DWSC aren't up to speed on, and so it's a great ep for people who are full on fans as well as those uninitiated. But those who fall into the latter category will be rapidly converted, so prepare to add another podcast to your agenda. True crime fans - rejoice! You're in for so many treats.

This week Pip is joined by Enter Shikari's ROU REYNOLDS!
...and if you remember all the way back to episode 27 where Rou made his debut on Distraction Pieces, you will know that his name is pronounced "Rou like cow, not Rou like moo". But that aside - we welcome back Rou, in this excellent episode which delves into so much more than music. Situating ourselves immediately in the surroundings of Pip's old uni town of Wolverhampton, we hear about everything including politics and how to transmit that as a band, being a frontperson and the emotional toll, gender hangups and new arguments within, the Overton Window (see links below if unfamiliar), the creative drought of the pandemic, and of course MUSIC! Burying the lead there! So enjoy this welcome return and share freely - as with all episodes - you as a listener form a very important part of the Distraction Pieces chain. Nice one and big love as always.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by director BRANDON CRONENBERG!
If half of that name rings bells to those of you not versed too hard in the cinema world, you are indeed correct - Brandon's father is David, who you will surely be familiar with in some way! Brandon's been carving a unique niche in the horror scene with some truly psychedelic adventures in the genre, and you'll be happy to know that he goes into a lot of the technique in this chat with Pip. Honestly, you couldn't have guessed some of this stuff - and better yet, it's all in-camera (basically meaning, not computer FX). So prepare for some fantastic process talk, greater ideas within the films, and some nice action for those who saw and loved Possessor, Infinity Pool and the rest in the catalogue. As always with these chats which may seem specifically bound to a certain discipline - if you are creative in any way, or enjoy creativity - you will absolutely get a lot from this. So fear not, horror fan or otherwise - you'll love it.

This week Pip is joined by the incredible screenwriter BISHA K. ALI!
An absolute must listen episode, firstly for those interested and invested in the acting and cinema/television kingdom, but also for those who want to hear a straight up brilliant episode full of honesty, truth and heart. Of course you get the shop talk - process, creativity, the whole science of it all (and the Marvel multiverse of course)- which is amazing in itself, but you also get some wondefully vulnerable and soulful thoughts and experiences on mental health, diversity, and how this ties everything together in a much more macro sense. It actually plays out like a perfect screenplay in many ways, which is no surprise. I mean. It's Bisha K. Ali! Enjoy, take notes, listen fully.

This week Pip is joined by the brilliant actor and musician NATALIA TENA!
The instant connection that will be of note to Distraction Pieces Network followers, is that Natalia starred next to Brett Goldstein in Superbob - which hopefully you will have seen by now! BUT - consider that something of a sidebar to this conversation as here, we get to hear everything about Natalia in a solo capacity. From boat life, to mind opening Patagonia journeys, to dream jobs and being part of film crews almost like a family, her band and how the tale began and unfolds, accordions, Harry Potter, John Wick, and the whole acting science in general. Amazing stuff and a brilliant look at what Natalia's been up to and is about to do - listen in!

This week Pip is joined by the duo of incredible poet and filmmaker SAUL WILLIAMS and stellar actor and playwright ANISIA UZEYMAN!
Saul is back on the Distraction Pieces couch for his second appearance in the show's history (first time was incredible), and as you can well imagine, you're in for treats galore. Not only that, you can double up on said treats by adding the wonderful Anisia Uzeyman into the mix, as the two drop science in an orderly fashion! A huge amount of perspective, viewpoint and opinion which you will definitely enjoy being in on, but also you'll hear about their film Neptune Frost. If you haven't seen or heard about the film, for goodness sake look at the trailer for some context - it's incredible, and will give a perfect foundation for ths chat with the makers. Or better yet - watch the film. Fans of Saul will heavily appreciate this, and if you're familiar with the work of Anisia you'll love it. And all rounded up with some glorious hip hop anecdotery in case you forgot who you were dealing with here. ENJOY!

This week Pip is flying solo to answer a flurry of questions from YOU, the listeners and viewers!
In keeping with Distraction Pieces tradition, Pip likes to have a week to himself from time to time and here we are, deep in mid-February, to open up the mailbag. Even saying 'mailbag' is such a nostalgia trigger for most of us. Didn't that kind of thing die out not long after the 90's arrived? What was it replaced by? Maybe that should have been my question for this episode. Anyway - expect a nice gathering of input from friends and fans and long/medium/short term listeners, with light shed on various topics from music to film to Twitch to everything besides. Just don't ask when we can expect more music. Deal? Deal. Enjoy episode 501, the denim edition.

Join Pip and producer Buddy Peace in a 'quincentenary' celebration as the podcast reaches episode 500! PART 2 of 2!
Pip and myself don't often sit down and recount the archives of the Distraction Pieces Podcast in an official capacity. We might refer back to episodes here and there, or talk in a bizarre shorthand only decipherable by us about certain prior events and occurances in the past. But this time we sat down and recorded a whole epic feature length episode of us doing the damn thing and here is part 2 of the double drop!
It was a pleasure and delight, and a real treat to give some context to this ongoing project which drops every Wednesday (and sometimes more), and find a space to stop, check in, celebrate, be still for a moment and look at what's happened over the years. Turns out A LOT HAS HAPPENED. But you would expect that right? So here it is, the second of two full conversations with me (Buddy Peace) and Pip, peppered with comments and questions from listeners throughout. This could even be a good first listen for some folks if they haven't heard it before, actually - definitely a huge amount of "Oh I'm listening that THAT one straight after this" type stuff.
Enjoy, and huge love to you all for being with us and supporting the Distraction Pieces Podcast. Love ya. XXX
PS: I looked up 'quincentenary' and everything.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by Glasgow-based rapper, author and activist DARREN McGARVEY aka LOKI!
A thoroughly engaging and informative chat to light a fire under you right here, as Pip connects with Darren and jumps in the deep end from the very start! That's how we like it. It's actually perfect because Darren has a lot to say, all of which is guided towards society and shining a light on some of the sides of it that often get left in the shadows, ignored, or basically hidden from public view. He has skin in the game too, having lived in a part of Glasgow which hasn't always been what you might consider the safest part of town, and with alcoholism in the family, so it comes as no surprise that there's a feeling of catharthis in his quest to enlighten and create positivity in his work. Speaking of work, you can catch Darren on road not long after this podcast releases, and also make sure you peep his rap music which is proper too. Very sick stuff. A definite companion episode to previous guests such as Akala, Rutger Bregman and Emma Dabiri to name a few.

This week Pip is joined by acting superhero AMAR CHADHA-PATEL!
Hopefully you will have encountered Disney+'s 'Willow' by now (previously known as the enigmatic 'UNTITLED DISNEYPLUS PROJECT'), or perhaps even the movie 'Dashcam' - if not, and you're yet to become familiar with Amar, this is a wonderful opportunity to make a fast friend and discover someone who you'll certainly want to keep up on... This is an awesome chat with Pip and Amar, which covers his beginnings working with the All Saints brand and hustling music videos, leading to Bestival projects at which he made first contact with Pip, set design and direction, various intricate tax issues and Twitter storms, process, enjoyment and happiness on set, and how to mature within a complex and unique industry. You'll pick up some true gems along the way but more importantly, hear an uninterrupted chat which you'll thoroughly enjoy. Get yourself started!

Friends, colleagues, contemporaries... The time has come once more. That time is DRUNKAST TIME! PART 5!
Some of you will legitimately have been waiting all year for this one. I GET IT. It's understandable. What other times of year do you get to hear Pip, Chris and Stu get together and drink and shout and cry and solve the world's problems and generally create podcast gold? Exactly. It is a time to be treasured, honoured, and respected. So with that in mind, please relax and get ready to enjoy a fifth of the Drunkast series for the year 2022 (recorded in 2023, for clarity). You shall enjoy.
As with ALL previous Drunkasts, you know the deal - the occasional coarse word or two, sometimes strung together for good measure, and material that you might not wanna blast out of the car stereo with those of a sensitive nature. Basically, if you or anyone else you're with is new to Distraction Pieces, consider kicking things off with a guest-led episode to acclimatise! This is like dunking yourself in the sea in January, nawmean? So bear that in mind. Otherwise - come on, you know what you're doing! Big love from all at Distraction Pieces.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by English professional wrestler WILLIAM REGAL!
A true wrestling fans dream right here, but as always with these slightly more specific episodes, this is definitely not one strictly for the wrestlers... William Regal is a lovely guest and a treat to have on the podcast, and you can clearly hear the joy in Pip's voice when the two get to speaking. Those who are familiar will know about his character and his long road within the wrestling ring and outside it, and here you get a front row chance to hear about everything - the character choices and how he formulated the person you see up there, his original desires to be a wrestler, comedian or clown, Blackpool roots, analogies to the 'bad guy' characters in comedy, how to work with crowds, being a pro, doing the work, and retaining a humble but proud and highly skilled presence in and out of that ring. It will definitely appeal to anyone in the creative arts, as there are elements of which we all share and find common ground on. Some valuable meditations on time and being a grown adult too, which we can all benefit from. Lovely stuff for both wrestling addicts and those who are a clean slate!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by actor LENNY RUSH!
This isn't the first time Pip's had a younger guest on the podcast, going back to the days of the 'Where's Your Head At' series where he chatted to his goddaughter, but this time he joined by young Lenny who is 12 years old at the time of recording. Lenny is an incredible actor who's been on a lot of very highly regarded BBC shows (and more obviously!), and this is a wonderful conversation where you really get to know Lenny well and catch a glimpse of his wise and great sense of humour. In case you missed something Pip mentions earlier on too, Lenny has Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia congenita, a condition which affects growth. This is just to give the correct words to the condition and make sure it's spelled properly here.
They cover a lot of ground here in not a lot of time, but just make sure you have space on your favourite actor lists after hearing and seeing him. Check lnks below for more work and where to find his various actings too!

This week Pip is joined by national acting treasure RUTH MADELEY!
Pip caught up with Ruth to go in on the actorial sciences in some awesome detail, with Ruth going over some of her amazing roles in an illustrious career and all the 'stuff' that comes with it. Born with spina bifada, she has also worked a ton with the Whizz Kidz charity, so she is very much out there putting in work in the realms of disability representation. It's a really interesting chat which shines some well needed light on areas of the acting scene that could benefit from it, but actually all areas of society too. Enjoy the ace chat with Ruth, and peep the links below!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
Prepare your snacks accordingly (preferably quiet ones) as Pip runs you through his FILMS OF THE YEAR 2022!
Happy and prosperous new years to you all! All of us here at Distraction Pieces wish you a wonderful year ahead in all of your endeavours. Here's hoping for a positive one in 2023. As tradition dictates, here is Pip to deliver his timely rundown of all of the films he saw in 2022, broken down into a criteria of which he will explain, and with clear parameters and boundaries so all is fair and equal. One thing to point out, as is always necessary with the film lists, is that this list is not your list. When Pip mentions a film he loved, the mention of that film does not magically erase the films you loved, nor shuffle the order around of your own lists (mental or physical). So YES your choices may be different but NO your opinions are still valid. But this is not grounds for debate. This is a perfect chance to start 2023 with a positive perspective - let's celebrate the things that are great and not spend a ton of time breaking down why we didn't like the other stuff. I dunno, let's see. Could be the start of a glorious trend... With that in mind - let Pip take you on a walk through the woods while he talks films at ya. ENJOY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!!

This week Pip forms a power throuple with fellow podcasters JOHN & JOEL for the TV SHOWS OF THE YEAR!
A delightful end of year TV roundup from three people who truly know and care about their televisual intake. These are names you can trust, folks. You might know John and Joel from their own film podcast called Dream Factory (the world's greatest user-generated movie creation podcast), which Pip is a true fan of and contributor to, but if not, here is your chance to get to know them and become fast friends! This podcast goes appropriately deep into the television shows of the year in a hugely positive way, but of course you'll hear about some of the trials and tribulations of being such big devourers of content - the endless options of platforms, the accessibility of them all, and everything else... But really it's a perfect way to get up to speed on the things you might have missed, and also hear people chat about the shows that we all loved throughout the year. Who knows what 2023 has in store for us... But really - who cares? This is 2022 right here! ENJOY!

This week Pip is joined by director and screenwriter RIAN JOHNSON!
First thing's first, so you know who you're about to listen to. GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY. Okay? Okay. NOW you know! Rian wrote and directed the incredible follow up to Knives Out, which hit cinemas recently and will be with you Netflix possibly right about now. The coverage so far has been nothing but awesome so you'll be in for an absolute sure shot treat with this one. But what do you know about Rian? Well, via the medium of Pip (and in this case, some of Pip's high ranking cinema world accomplices), you're about to find out a whole bunch. The process, the expectations, the media, the time involved, the dress code - all of it. It's a lean episode but goodness does it read heavy. Enjoy!

You already KNOW Adam and Richard from their illustrious podcast careers (The Adam Buxton Podcast and RHLSTP respectively), but surely a ton of you also know them from their comedy or acting careers too, in solo form as well as in double acts. I mean this is all just fluff really because if you listen to Distraction Pieces then by now you'll know all of this and the podcast will either be currently downloading or already in progress. And you will know Adam and Richard anyway. I guess I'm just being polite really. No harm in that! ANYWAY - without spoiling anything, it's a lovely conclusion a lovely chat which goes into a load of awesome ground, with tangents and welcome back and forths throughout. You know what it is. Todays episode is a wonderful chat with coach and mentor Rio Rosenberg, and founder / CEO of Bloomsbury Football Foundation Charlie Hyman! A really nice conversation about what the foundation is, does, and means to those who join. Bloomsbury Football Foundation is all about access to football to those who might have previously faced obstacles in playing the sport in a team with all the equipment and whatnot that is necessary. Listen to the episode to get a beautifully inspiring idea of what they do, and hear all about Rio and Charlie and their own missions, involvement and journeys too. This week Pip is joined for a Xmas tradition catch-up by old pals POLARBEAR and MUSA OKWONGA! Part 2 of 2...
If you're listening to this podcast, I'll make a pretty safe bet that you will be familiar with spoken word superheroes Polar and Musa. If not, I'll make an equally safe bet that if you like Pip, you've now got two friends in waiting, as this crew go back a long way and share a lot of amazing ground, stories, past, influence and style but carry their own unique sparkle and fire. You could add Inua Ellams and Kae Tempest to the gang too, and a ton of others. ANYWAY - this is a continuation of the yearly Xmas drinks catchup tradition that goes back a while, where the crew celebrate and bigup others and their influences, favourites, and really get into the technique and inner workings of it all. The list of topics is too deep to relay here so just trust that between Pip, Polar and Musa, you will have yourself a wonderful time of it.
IN THE END IT WAS ALL ABOUT LOVE

PART 2 around the corner!
IN THE END IT WAS ALL ABOUT LOVE

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by Inbetweeners heroes and OGs JOE THOMAS & SIMON BIRD!
This bonus episode is in partnership with All 4, featuring Joe Thomas and Simon Bird from The Inbetweeners.
Pip has been circling these two for a good while now, although Simon has appeared on DPP all those years ago in 2020 - but as a duo, the lads come correct and you know it's a great one. You of course know them from The Inbetweeners, in small and big screen variants, as well as their individual work of which all of the original gang have developed through the years, but here's a great chance to check in with Joe & Simon with a new fresh perspective of their work back in the day. A very entertaining chat with ace backstage gossip and all of that good old fashioned self deprecating (and straight up deprecating!) charm that you know from them. Listen and enjoy!
You can stream The Inbetweeners and many more on All 4.

This week Pip is joined by MMA superhero JOHN HATHAWAY!
A truly great chat with Pip and John, and while you may see the initials M, followed by an M, and then an A, in the above description, this isn't necessarily one strictly for the UFC heads. Although you'll surely have a great time if you ARE one. John's been through a whole lot in his journey to perfection, and as you'll hear not every pro fighter is immune to human issues. He had a major battle with some internal maladies which you'll hear about in a very tactful way, but managed to navigate through with grace and made a major comeback. But as you'll also hear, there's some huge stories to be told and as you'll expect, Pip's on his game with this one. Enjoy!

This week Pip is joined by the superb director JACK SPRING!
A great catchup with Pip and Jack as they get all the way into the film making craft, covering almost every aspect from the journey into it all, to learning the ropes on the business side, funding, casting, all of that good stuff as well as all the extra bits and pieces you would want to hear and know about. A perfect chance to get to know Jack better, and the perfect chance to hear more about his film Three Day Millionaire too, which sounds incredible... Enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by TV and film director behind almost everything MARK MYLOD!
An amazing chat with someone who began their storied career working on some cornerstone shows in BBC history like Grandstand, Eastenders and Blue Peter but ALSO Maid Marian which was a huge deal for those of us of a certain age, let's say... Anyway - through a series of chess moves on the board of the industry he currently finds himself in an incredible position working on some true TV greats like Succession and Game Of Thrones to name but two - but also his own film The Menu, which you'll find in cinemas currently (at time of typing). A wide ranging and honest chat but with a focus on the topic at hand, which gives so much room for hearing the tale of Mark and his years in the game. It makes for a really fascinating chat which will vibrate with everyone and anyone who appreciates their media, on the small or big screen. Or massive screen at home. However you get down.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the brilliant and hilarious comic MAISIE ADAM!
A delightful episode which goes into so much in not that long of a time, but certainly enough to get you fully up to speed on all things Maisie. So much ground is covered, including the Brixton Academy level of popularity, the cost of living crisis not being lost on her in relation to people turning up at shows, a misleading non-recommendation for 80's Melbourne passed on from her dad, the shifting sands of the pandemic timeline, Pip guesting on her podcast decades ago in 2019, growing up in a dip, old stories from the past, auditioning and the road to acting which became the road to comedy, surprise Southend appearances from hip hop royalty, and what's happening now. Awesome stuff. Do not let this one pass you by, team.

This week Pip is joined by the hilarious and great comic ALISTAIR GREEN!
You could also add actor to that list of accolades as Alistair is busy in front of the camera too, as you will hear. Kicking off with heavy metal nights and the tour t-shirt, it's a fun slip n' slide down the road of tangents as Pip and Al get down to the business of social media and rolling news being too quick for a comic hot take, making videos, creative process, making situations into comedy, the Prince Charles Cinema screening of his videos as a film (and the wonder of the cinema itself), conspiranoia, Alan Partridge and trying to resist goofing while a take is in progress, Ted Lasso and tons more. Awesome stuff and definitely one for Al heads and those who are yet familiar - much fun! Enjoy.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the multi-hyphenate comic, author and doctor ADAM KAY!
Well maybe doctor in the 'present' tense might not be strictly true but it's a nice trio right there. A really great chat with Adam and Pip as they get deep into the vault of doctoring and the world of medicine. But with a definite truth-telling angle - not to dish the dirt by any means, but really to help the public understand more the position that those working in healthcare are in. It can often be misrepresented very efficiently, so it's heartening to hear the side of it that we're not always exposed to. Adam delivers his recollections with a delightful world weariness that is so endearing and interesting, and it's awesome to hear about what he's been up to in the writing world as well as all the rest. I mean, the term "multi hyphenate" is thrown around SO recklessly these days... Enjoy!

This week Pip is joined by the excellent actor NIKESH PATEL!
A great ep with a nice instant camaraderie from the opening moments onwards, which serves as a lovely antidote to otherwise maddening times in the local and global sense. Nikesh has been in front of the camera for a minute, and leaving a trail of fans, happy faces and more of that camaraderie at the end of each project - you will have seen him on variously sized screens over the years, but now's the time to hear his story from the origin to the present. And let's just say that this episode was spiritually overseen by Guz Khan.

This week Pip is joined by acting heavyweight SOPE DIRISU!
Gangs Of London, His House, His Dark Materials, Humans... Sope's BUSY, and has been putting in work on the stage and screen for a good minute. Here's a perfect opportunity to hear from the person behind the roles, in a really nice and relaxed but satisfyingly detailed chat which covers so much. Process, origin story, the notion of self tapes and how to identify authenticity in yourself, appealing to those without sight and those without hearing, past roles, action and combat and his athletic background, Gangs Of London of course and TONS more. Awesome stuff, you'll enjoy for sure.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by UK indie treasure JIM BOB (Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine)!
While 'listeners of a certain age' will get instant nostalgia feels from the very mention of Carter USM, this episode is by no means one for them and them alone! For Jim Bob is an eloquent and thoughtful musician with very good insights and understandings on the music scene with experience in the game. Carter blew up on the UK pop scene back in the late 80's / early 90's, and you may remember Jim Bob rocking that wildly influentional haircut if nothing else, but it's fascinating to hear about his time in the scene back then and to draw parallels with Pip about the game now, and what's happened in between. Including run ins with The Rolling Stones and Philip Scofield. A ton to enjoy, and maybe now's a great time to go back through the back catalogue with fresh ears... Enjoy!

This week Pip is joined by wonderful comic LAUREN PATTISON!
Lauren had an amazing run at the Edinburgh Fringe this year, to which Pip shall attest, and this is a huge awesome chat between the two which will cover everything involved! By everything, of course that entails Lauren's childhood and upbringing, influences, process, road to professional status, proper proper Newcastle, the anxiety of ticket sales, and so much general life goodness in between. What's so cool is hearing about all the actual bits in between the performances - the stuff that underpins the attitude and the performance. But you get everything else too of course! Amazing - follow Lauren's moves and catch a show if you can, you shall not regret it. Enjoy!

This week Pip is joined, once again, for the universal good of podcast listeners, by JORDAN GRAY!
It's a much requested and long awaited return, and so much has happened in Jordan's world since the last visit in actually quite a short span of time. We catch up with Jordan hot off their triumphant return from Edinburgh Fringe which proved to be a VERY full on month of highs, and the two catch up and check in on all of that, as well as The Voice, shows and scripts and coming up with material, new audiences, class, investing in yourself, a uniquely Marvel experience which is just wonderful and you have to hear, what's coming next, and just all sorts of good vibe material that we've come to expect and DEMAND from Jordan over past DPP appearances! So enjoy, and be sure to check all Jordan's shows coming up too. You shall not be disappointed.

This week Pip is joined by acting superstar KAITLYN DEVER!
If you are unaware of Kaitlyn in your adventures through the wide world of broadcast media, prepare to make fast friends with a true great, and an absolute gem of a person at that. Kaitlyn's been putting down serious moves since childhood, including a Shakespeare stint at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts for those pondering), and her filmography is stellar - ranging from Justified, to Dopesick, to Unbelievable, and more recently Ticket To Paradise (starring alongside Julia Roberts and George Clooney, where the cinema screen actually cracks midway through from so much gorgeous). This is a lovely chat, properly engaging and it's such a treat to hear Kaitlyn's story. OH and as Pip hints at in the intro, prepare for a Kaitlyn fact that will blow yer mind. She casually peppers it in there but thankfully Pip mashes on the brakes and reverses and double takes seamlessly. Enjoy! You shall!

This week Pip is joined by director TOM GEORGE!
The second in a two part podcast mini series I guess you could call it, where Pip catches up with one of the people immediately involved with the murder mystery See How They Run. It also happens that the two people in said mini podcast series were ALSO immediately involved with This Country - a mockumentary of which Pip is a card-carrying superfan of. This is a Friday bonus episode featuring director Tom, who goes into a ton of the awesome behind the scenes business in creating This Country and See How They Run, as well as his past and future, and so much more - I mean if you like anything mentioned in this writeup you'll be listening already so I'll let you crack on. Enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by actor and writer extraordinaire CHARLIE COOPER!
A long awaited one right here, as long term listeners will already be aware of how big a fan Pip is of This Country... Charlie was one of those responsible for the whole thing (along with his sister Daisy May), but obviously NOT ONLY that... As you'll hear, there's a ton going on with Charlie, including a starring role in See How They Run alongside some insanely great acting talent (none of which is lost on him), and together he and Pip cover all things fantasy football-style casting, the Tom George comfort animal, the process of ideas and realising them, refining scripts on the go, working with Daisy and Tom, his roles in Stath Lets Flats and Avenue 5 (in front of the camera or in the writers room), and everything else. A deep one which covers the fun of it all alongside the hard work involved. Enjoy!

This week Pip is joined by director BABAK ANVARI!
See Wednesday's episode for the George side of things but this is the other side of the camera right here! Pip and Babak unexpectedly go back a way, as you'll hear up top on this episode, and from then on it's all about Babak - from their surprise meet at Wireless around 2008, to his background in film assisting with the editor's mind of it all, short films, his film Under The Shadow, childhood in Iran and adulthood in the UK, the masochism involved in film making and a huge amount more. The perfect accompaniment to Wednesday's goodness! Enjoy.

This week Pip is joined by UK acting hero GEORGE MACKAY!
A brilliant chat with one of the stars of the excellent 'I Came By', which is available to your ears and eyes right now in your local [indie] cinema and Netflix! He and Pip share some interesting pinpoints, in a real and cinematic sense, but also connect on the greater art of acting, film making and this whole life thing in general. Street art, starts and ends of characters, deeper revelations in the characters worlds, social media and the beauty of not being there for it, performance, osmosis learning, context clues for acting and actors and deciding what to take on board himself, industry parents and how he got into the whole thing... Awesome stuff, and look for the bonus ep on Friday!

This week Pip is joined by UK acting superstar JOHN BRADLEY WEST!
We caught up with young John back in October 2016, in those sepia toned and tobacco-tinted days of episode 120, no less... Well, as always, you can only imagine how much life has happened in those interviening 6 years, but John is back to bring us all back to speed! From the weird end time of his tenure on Game Of Thrones and the funky feelings of that period, to getting a call from J-Lo, to Moonfall and Marry Me, social media, creativity, The Railway Children and all the rest, this is a goody as you can imagine with so much happening. Enjoy the company of John Bradley West!

This week Pip is joined by national acting treasure and Distraction Pieces friend PADDY CONSIDINE!
You may remember back all those years to 2015, when Paddy made his first appearance on the podcast... A huge amount of life has happened since then, and you're about to hear - well, condensed into an hour or so - all about it. We find Paddy in a good place, which is lovely to hear, and delve into the past again, in a number of ways, to hear about past advice he gave Pip in the first podcast appearance, class, revelations on Broadway, what is available to you with the appropriate outlook, that old ever present bastard of imposter syndrome, on set relationships, directing one's self, his past films including Journeyman and Tyrannosaur, House Of The Dragon, Riding The Low, and all the other extra trimmings tha come with all of that. A fantastic one which you'll love, and you're always in good company with Paddy - enjoy!

This week Pip is joined by comic, host and writer FRANKIE BOYLE!
I mean, multi-hyphenate would kind of sum it all up to some degree. This a very welcome catch up with Frankie, as he and Pip check in on everything since September 2016 - so not much to talk about then really...? So let's just say that the tip of the iceberg is approached at the very least, with a lot of Frankie goodness to indulge in including his new Fringe show, not relying on fallbacks, the scourge of essentialism, the path of optimism, Left Wing melancholia, dislike for the emphatic, how we read, Becket plays, meeting greater themes in play through real life mortality experiences (wow that's a book title right there), representation and so much more. Excellent stuff. Enjoy.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by new Distraction Pieces Network signees, the fabulous duo of CHARLIE & NINA!
From - obviously - their podcast entitled Sex With Charlie & Nina. But previously of the podcast 2 Girls 1 Shop, in case you were fortunate enough to catch that one... The joy of the new one though is that it truly requires zero back story. Charlie and Nina talk about sex. And now you're all caught up! But if you are new to their world, you're in for true treats and knowledge and wisdom, as well as a lot of incredible back catalogue too. On this episode though, it's a fantastic chance to get to hear from them about all things past, present and future, including how they met, what got them into podcasting (or 'who' - in this case, mostly Stu Whiffen), building up a backlog of amazing stories, sex positivity, the 50 Shades effect, dealing with attitudes of all sorts, their experiences in dealing with the public in a shop and social media environment, and all the rest that you would want to hear about. It's awesome, and a perfect introduction - or reintroduction - to Charlie and Nina!

Top class material from Kerry and Pip, as the two catch up like old pals (which in a sense they are) and get things off to a perfectly familiar start. From all things tech updates, to the size of Glastonbury (but WHICH town is it the same size as...?), making complex stuff sound understandable, Treadstone, bridging the worlds of comedy and acting. people in said worlds finding out about the other, representation and limits, working with Ricky Gervais and all that entails, a not in-person surprise appearance from a very special guest (no spoilers), and tons more greatness. Fully enjoyable, get to it!

An absolutely riveting episode from start to end, as Pip and Mark get into it from the beginning and simply don't stop til the end. Sure that's how most podcasts go, but it's a level of energy and enthusiasm which is a joy to be a part of. You probably know Mark from his TV work or live shows, but here's a lovely chance to catch up on so much - everything including ageing, hereditory elements, pre show rituals including our man Pip, old fashioned Boris clownshow buffoonery (bearing in mind this was recorded at a very different time - even though it was VERY recently!), the concept of weekends, poverty and its effects in long and short term, imaginative solutions to societal problems, and a huge amount more which is for you to discover, including his Fringe show which is forthcoming. Enjoy.

But without getting ahead of ourselves, let's enjoy the greatness of this one, and go and listen and watch at nearest opportunities. You'll love this episode. Enjoy.

If you're a long term listener, you'll understand the reverence to which Pip applies to the director of Irreversible, Enter The Void, and new film Vortex among others, and so it must have been a daunting but incredible chance to form the experience into a podcast - as you will hear, it not only covers Noe's recent brush with death and subsequent recovery, but also his process, the importance of casting and crew, life, love, substances, and film in general. It's almost an episode of Films To Be Buried With, to be honest. Have a look at the references below if you miss anything - most are here - but otherwise, enjoy this amazing chat with Gaspar Noe and lifelong Gaspar Noe fan Pip!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by acting superhero BENEDICT WONG!
A marvelous and Marvel-ful episode as Pip has a long overdue catch up with the Salford hero Benedict Wong, which comes equiped with good vibes, positivity and inspiring nuggets from all sides. Kicking off with some record dealings up top, we glide into such matters as London acting gig drama, Mancunian origins, the great Sean Lock and working on 15 Storeys High, Dirty Pretty Things, Top Boy, internalising racism while working in the family chippie, representing himself as Wong & Only, the Marvel Universe, Wong Is Wong, Meisner, and just too much to be bulletpointed here basically. You know you'll love it.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
A very special bonus episode as Pip talks with LISA SIMPSON, whose son was killed by police in 2016.
Before going in, know that this episode is obviously a heavy one with many nuanced elements. Lisa has been actively vocal about her feelings and experiences with the Black Lives Matter movement since her son Richard Risher was murdered by the Los Angeles Police Department on July 25th 2016. Not only has she had to face burying her son, and dealing with the aftermath of the law being responsible for his death, she's also had to deal with negative run ins with the Black Lives Matter movement who have made false promises to her for a while now, among other grievances.
It's her experience to share, and her story to tell, and is a layered problem which you'll see as you hear from Lisa. This is in the interest of balance, as Patrisse Cullors of BLM guested on episode 195 of Distraction Pieces (linked below), so it's only fair Lisa has her right to reply.

This week Pip is joined by the fabulous actor and writer EMER KENNY!
Quality actorial goodness is on the table again for your listening enjoyment, as we get to engage in an hour of real nourishing and inspiring chat between Emer and Pip. Highly recommended for Emer fans and those not so aware, and for the latter, you're about to become fast friends - together they cover the lot, from origins, to process, her family of builders, how her mum influenced her in her teen years, angry running, rainy snoggin', saying yes to it all, The Curse, Save Me, Eastenders, acting with Seapa and so much more. Awesome, you'll dig it.

A lovely episode for those interested in all things actorial, stage and screen as Pip catches up with Sarah about everything process related and all else in between. Everything from her current work with Steve Coogan, to past works and Pip favourites, to origin stories, life in the USA, work, life, and so much more. A definite must listen for those who appreciate the craft and want to know more about the realities of it all, mixed with present perspectives and sober thinking. Excellent!

By all means, this writeup could end there - I mean the name Kae Tempest is essentially an instant download. But if you're still waiting for a hard sell in this description, just know that this is a wonderful, heartfelt, funny, inspiring and uplifting chat with Kae and Pip about - well, the whole thing. Life, love and the universe. Yin and yang. All that good stuff. Kae's been on the Distraction Pieces Podcast and you should also add those to your collection but whatever you do, don't let this one fall through your fingers. Take it in, enjoy, feel it. Oh and DO peep the new album too - Kae's running the road so also catch them rock a city near you soon...

This week Pip is joined by the legendary DJ and broadcaster JO WHILEY!
You can file this one under "Always on the cards / finally happened", if you're keeping scores. Jo's earned her place in the broadcasting hall of fame without a doubt, having been a rock solid and awesome part of radio history for a minute as well as holding it down on many a festival presenting lineup too. Here's a perfect chance to hear Jo on the other side of the mic as she and Pip catch up over the last couple of decades or more, from humble origins to the present day. Everything including Brighton beginnings and possible alternative career directions, her sisters journey through the pandemic which made for some heavy experiences on all sides (as well as dealings with the government), pivoting and moving from station to station, living in music, festivals, and the luxuries of gardening and nature. An uplifting one for sure, enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by journalist, author and presenter HAYLEY CAMPBELL!
You’re probably familiar with the age old dilemma of ‘Cake or death?’ - well, you’re about to hear a podcast which contains firstly takeaway, and then death. So it’s not worlds away, let’s say. This is a well overdue meeting of Pip and Hayley who get along like old pals from the get go, beginning with - as stated - takeaway habits and secret condiment hacks that will level up your sauce game (you can thank Hayley), and branches off into pandemic nostalgia, fitness, cinemas, parents, Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, comic books, but more importantly - death. Hayley’s new book ‘All The Living And The Dead’ addressed the dead. Not the dying or the grieving. The dead. You wouldn’t think it was an overlooked sector but death is a strange one. A fascinating chat which deals with so much but with a good heart and no gloominess, but worth mentioning that those who struggle with the subject might be well warned to tread lightly. Just saying. Enjoy!

A bonus Friday episode for you this week, by of a feed drop for the podcast MUM AND MUMMER!
What is a 'Feed Drop'? GOOD QUESTION. The easiest way to explain is this - Pip hears a podcast either on the DPP Network or from a close pal in the podcasting circuit, and after cordial formalities have been exchanged, it features on the DPP feed. In this case, it's network pal and all round wonderful human Amy's turn, with a stunning recent episode of her podcast 'Mum And Mummer'.
Below is the original writeup for the episode from her own podcast feed, which will explain all. Or just jump in and listen.

This week Pip is joined by author and poet CECILIA KNAPP!
A perfect chance to catch up with Cecilia, and a lovely one to file alongside past episodes with DPP alumni Kae Tempest, Polarbear, Musa Okwonga and so on. Cecilia and Pip go back as far as the days of Bestival, and it’s lovely to hear about the journey she’s taken and the many moments of day and night along the way. We hear about the actual factual nuts and bolts of the process of writing (which includes actual human emotions and real life moments), share some moments of her family all along the way (to those of a more sensitive nature, you might want to tread carefully by the way - it’s a touch heavy), hear about her early days and entry points into spoken word and poetry which involves said Polarbear / Steve Camden, as well as the also great Jack Rooke, channeling grief, the CALM organisation, being in creative bubbles, and dipping in and out of characters in her novel ‘Little Boxes’. Hugely inspiring. dive in and enjoy!

For those who know their cinema and tv, you’ll surely be well aware of Craig and his back catalog of goodness but if not, at the very least, you must have seen at least the cover for the film Submarine… Either way - you’re in for a treat of a chat with the Welsh sureshot himself as he goes into it all with Pip. Everything including growing up in Wales, acting origin stories, sounding toooo Welsh, directing and doing so during a pandemic, being on both sides of the camera, the great Mark Rylance, the also great Shaheen Baig (rapidly becoming the DPP godmother), the scourge of over-rehearsing, Richard Ayoade, and golf! Not only that, we get to hear about her own process, the not very diverse world of drama back in the day, her musical early days, her show Mood of course, curating a team, the world of sex work, being in Sense8 and working with the Wachowskis, from stage to screen, her cringe barometer and so much more. This week Pip is joined, at long last, by national treasure STEPHEN FRY!
Simply using the term ‘national treasure’ doesn’t do any kind of justice whatsoever to who or what Stephen is, does and has done, of course. But it’s pretty tough to dispute. Long term (and casual) Pip listeners will already know the line ‘Thou shalt not question Stephen Fry’ - well, Pip breaks the holy rap commandment and does just that, and it’s a joy to behold. Naturally there’s only so many tips of icebergs one can introduce in an hour, but rest assured that you get the full Pip and Fry experience including pandemic times, social media, Greeks and Romans and history as a whole, tattoos, religion, politics - it’s like if you had a dinner party with him but condensed into a lunch break. So enjoy this hang time with Stephen and let’s hope that it only leads to more! Enjoy.

In a kind of mirror-type episode of Wednesday with Lucy Pinder, this is Lucy's podcasting pal from the Smashing Sundays podcast who now has the spotlight fixed firmly on her for an episode! Beth is incredibly busy, as you will surely deduce by the end of this, but busy in a reassuringly comfortable way. With so many projects on the go and in the archives, it's fascinating to hear how it all comes together, as well as the origin story of it all. A good chunk of that takes place in Wales, where we currently find her, and leads on from there including all the writing, concepts, projects, series, gigs, everything else included. So enjoy this deep dive with Beth Granville, the perfect way to zip up the week and prepare for a perfect Sunday with her and Lucy! Enjoy.

This week Pip is joined by actress, TV star and podcaster LUCY PINDER!
A delightful chat bringing in loads of feelgood action, with a dash of triumph over adversity in there for good measure. From her days back in Winchester, we hear about her path to publicity and being involved in the world of early 00's lad culture and glamour modeling from a chance day off at the beach, which led to a huge amount of ups and downs as the path began to stabilise. What this did lead to though is a ton of good things which we hear about, as well as thoughts on pandemic walks and rituals, reclaiming Sundays and releasing podcasts on them, the difference between fun and selfishness these days to back then, rebranding being single and so much more besides. Get involved, you’ll love this one.

This week Pip is joined for a second appearance by awesome acting friend, the great TOM DAVIS!
Heavyweight listeners will recall episode 58, back in September 2015, all those years ago, when young Tom joined Pip for a debut appearance. Tom brings up the ribbing he got recently from pal Seapa on said appearance, but by all means listen back and decide for yourself...! It's always nice to compare and contrast though so why not double bill the episodes... But anyway - back to the present. This one's another joyous get together with Pip and Tom, going into the old days of Murder In Successville, the things he's working on now, the days of being a labourer and the transition to acting, starting a company, the many projects he's involved in including his podcast with Romesh, and all that good good stuff. Have fun with Tom Davis!

This week Pip is joined by the artist formerly known as Prolyphic, it's Strange Famous's MOPES!
The last time Pip saw Mopes was in his former guise in 2013, and hooo boy has a lot happened in the interim... From name changes to all kinds of life stuff, it's a tale as old as time - take a chunk of someone's life and explore and you'll find (hopefully) huge evolutions and transitions. It's a pleasure to hear them catch up and reminisce over the old days of what was occasionally refered to as 'weird / leftfield / alternative' hip hop. What a funny time for genre naming that was. Personally I blame cLOUDDEAD. Anyway... For those into that era and sound, and those into hip hop, or just those who enjoy the story of someone with a ton of awesome experiences, buckets of honesty, and a large serving of realness - this will be of absolute importance. Check his new work HERE!
You can also check his old work which I (Buddy Peace) produced, on the album 'Working Man'. I was on that tour they talk about in 2013 too! Hell of a time y'all.
Enjoy the chat!

This week Pip is joined by Youtube geography champ and amazing idea generator GEOWIZARD!
Otherwise known as Tom Davies, of course. Some of you might be all like "Who in the good name of all things Youtubular is Geowizard now?", while some of you might in contrast be all like "Ahh, YES!" - well, either way, both camps are in for a treat. Tom has been making amazing videos with some concepts that make you instantly wonder how it hasn't been done already (in so much as it's such a pure, organic idea), and Pip's been down with him for a while. So you'll get to hear all about the straight line challenge, GeoGuessr (involving figuring out where you are after being dropped on Google Maps, using only context clues), how it all kicked in and got started, the idea of a 'real job', hard work out in the field (literally), being chased by angry farmers and a huge amount more. All will be made clearer by Pip and Tom from the intro onwards, so fear not - if this all sounds puzzling, give it a shot because this could very well be your next thing...Enjoy!

Seriously, this one goes deep… You might want to bring a notepad to this one if you’re in the least bit interested in the craft of acting because Youssef drops jewels like he keeps his valuables in a fishing net. Even though he’s sleepless through a recent addition to the family, a ton of goodies get investigated including turning a corner on publicity and PR, generating your own art, his traveled upbringing, the mess of working around 9-11, walls around people and countries, House Of Gucci and starring alongside Adam Driver and Al Pacino, dissolving one’s ego, the steady calm payoff of preparation, being prepared to go off script, casting and his various work along the way. A bonus Friday episode for you this week, by of a feed drop for the podcast BORN HUMAN!
It’s a rare thing, these feed drops (where a podcast features or ‘guests’ on a particular podcast feed), but this one struck a chord with Pip. Andy Chambers, the host of Born Human has been on the Distraction Pieces Podcast before back on episode 412 if you would like a full chat with the man himself, but here is literally a whole episode of Born Human, presented “as is” with no DPP editing/mixing.
It’s part 1 of a 2 part podcast, so catch the follow up on the Born Human podcast but know going in that this one features our good friend Chris Glassen (Hardcore Listing / Drunkast etc), and the subject is all about becoming a parent to your own parents in advancing years. All shall be explained and expanded upon but it’s a deep one, and if you’re experiencing a similar situation, this could be a very useful resource and suport, and certainly a voice that can gently let you know you’re not alone in this. It’s the show you know Dan Schreiber from, being part of the greater QI stables and leading from Dan’s own ‘elf’ status on QI. Here’s a great chance to hear Dan’s origin story, geographically and career-wise, and good lord it’s a fascinating one. From Hong Kong to Australia to the UK, weaving in all sorts of awesome entertainment job nuggets all the way as well as brewing an interesting race identity within himself, making friends with some greats along the path and ultimately finding himself in a wonderful spot in the media landscape. Oh and his parents were celebrity hairdressers in Hong Kong as well. Too much to synopsise here of course so just listen to the episode, it’s a genuine goodie.

A bonus treat this Friday as Pip is joined by writer of Channel 4’s new prison drama ‘Screw’, ROB WILLIAMS!
Rob of course has worked on a great amount of productions and works, but the focus this episode is the series Screw, and how it all formulated including the development and so on. The synopsis for Screw reads: “This is prison as never seen before – the uncensored, shocking and often darkly funny reality of life as a prison officer in an all-male prison in 21st century Britain” - and if that triggers your interests then this will be a perfect episode as Pip and writer Rob get deep into the mechanics and background of it all. A wide ranging chat which covers dystopian overload, teaching in prison, the lack of prison officer based shows, representation, being defined by the worst moment of your life, long running shows and the UK television framework, writing as part of a well oiled machine, writing to hooks and holding attention, Eastenders, Casualty, and loads more which will appeal to basically anyone with an interest in broadcast media. ENJOY!

This week Pip is joined by inspirational author and activist EMMA DABIRI!
Recorded at a time of political weirdness (a backdrop as old as time), illicit government parties feel pretty low down the list compared with the content of what Emma gets into with this episode. Just listen to her break down the origins of slavery in the early part, where she traces race as a construct to the roots, and charts its spread from there on. Emma’s expert delivery does not end there, for that is merely the tip of the iceberg of what is a very useful, inspiring and absolutely information-packed episode, where she also goes into her book and the inspirations behind the title, her upbringing in Ireland and Atlanta with Nigerian and Irish parents, being subliminally introduced into black politics from a very early age, and again, tracing certain elements of slavery and racism to the origins in order to better understand the impact and resonance. I mean, just listen, and read the book. And share this episode too - it’s a great one.

This week Pip is joined by actor, author and activist EVANNA LYNCH!
You may know Evanna from her role as Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films, which is a fine place to begin. But of course Evanna is a whole universe more than an acting role, a glimpse of which you shall have here on this podcast. She catches up with Pip about essentially life after Harry Potter, which contains a huge amount of ups, but as we all know, also contains a fair share of downs. Evanna spent a period of her life dealing with an eating disorder and the many issues which that brings with it, and only through a huge amount of work has she now been able to find ways of living with it and thinking of it in a multitude of different ways. She’s gained a demonstrable clarity over what was happening, and this podcast proves what power one can gain over something that attempts to gain its own foothold. She also goes into her own activism and vegan lifestyle too. Evanna’s book ‘The Opposite Of Butterfly Hunting’ is available now from all good bookstores.
* trigger warning - eating disorders and the knock on effects are discussed in this episode, so please take note if that's something that you're not in a place for right now.

The very merriest, happiest and healthiest of new years to you all and all the very best for what's to come in 2022. Let's make it one for the books... Not that any year in previous history has not been one for the books - but still, let's do what we can. All this talk of books though is not helping the cause of todays episode - for this is the tradition as old as time itself, where your dutiful cinephile host Scroobius Pip takes you on a walk in the woods to break down his films of the year list for the past 12 months!
As always, and I know you know this by now, but it bears repeating - this is PIPS LIST! If any films are mentioned that did not make your own personal list, or if your list contains films that aren't on Pips list, all is well. No need to grumble. This is a celebration of film which you are welcome to - not a film dis-fest or argument over what is or isn't worthy. All positive energy, all good and healthy input. Let's kick off the year on a plus and not get caught up in all that. Right? Amazing. And with that - let's get stuck in. Folks, enjoy the annual films of the year list from Pip!

Looking at my Casio, it’s about that time… Folks… It’s DRUNKAST TIME! PART 5!
You are - like it or not - VERY cordially invited to front row seats for the ongoing festive season roll through the wicked and weird wonderland of the three merry men, the three kings, the three drunkateers (not bad uh?) as they present for you the listening public, the family tradition that is the Drunkast. Drinks get drunk, gifts get gifted, and the world gets put to rights - that is to say, they get together and have a fun old time in front of us all. You might have heard these before in which case, god bless you. But if not - just be warned that it is not the usual Distraction Pieces fare here. It’s a bit rough in spots if you’re in front of the kiddos or the parents, and it does get loud. So depending on your environment, MAYBE one for the headphones. You’ll get the idea from the first few moments.
That being said - if you’re all strapped in and ready - let this be your warning. You’re in Drunkast town now. The sheriff’s asleep. The sun’s going down. Let’s go to work.

That being said - if you’re all strapped in and ready - let this be your warning. You’re in Drunkast town now. The sheriff’s asleep. The sun’s going down. Let’s go to work.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
Looking at my Casio, it’s about that time… Folks… It’s DRUNKAST TIME! PART 3!
Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by full on stage and screen multi-talent MARK GATISS!
“Full on multi talent” merely scratches the iceberg, as Mark is deeply immersed in almost every angle of the television and film game. An actor, screenwriter, producer, director and more, you’ll more than like be seeing a lot of him this Xmas as The Amazing Mr Blunden meets our screens. You’ll surely also see more of him in everything else he’s been involved with too, as stated above - he’s heavily involved! Here he and Pip cover a ton, including the state of the country, acting and fashions, source material for older works, clicking ‘send’, the performance of the director, and adjusting scripts on the fly. Or rather, on the curb. Marvellous, enjoy!
The Amazing Mr Blunden, available on Christmas Eve on Sky Max and streaming service NOW.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the brilliant actor and director WILL SHARPE!
A very rare appearance from Will, who is not usually one for the podcast format, so consider yourselves duly treated! And what a treat it is, as he and Pip connect on tales and fun from the acting world, in and behind the scenes. Will has a ton of hours in the game, and it’s a valuable listen from beginning to end. From being a new dad for the second time, to his Japanese roots, working in Japan and London back to back (and surprising language barriers), Footlights, alternative truths, and his work including Landscapers, Giri / Haji, Flowers, Black Pond, The Electrical Life Of Louis Wain, and all the gold in the middle that you could imagine. You’ll enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by one of the UK’s shining acting stars KIELL SMITH-BYNOE!
…but Kiell is not only an actor, as you shall find out. He’s been putting in power moves all across the board for a minute, and maybe in a parallel universe we’d see him sharing stages with old mates Tinchy, Wiley and Skepta, but we’re lucky enough to witness his rise on the screen. The grime model taught him well of course, as he became aware of what was possible in the wider world, and we get to hear how he plotted his course - originating in Newham - from Man Like Mobeen to Ghosts to Stath Lets Flats and much much more. And we also hear about a truly emotional on set catering experience. Let some sunshine into your life!
