In the year 2017 alone, 139 people were exonerated for crimes they did not commit - some had even been sentenced to death. Many others were sentenced to forever.
Our mission is to share the stories of the Exonerated through their own voices empowering the individual Exoneree while also educating and compelling our listeners to help end this type of injustice. Only a flawed system convicts innocent people, but together we can correct those flaws and create a true system of justice.

Ep 203 - Karen
00:35:52
Karen Summers was the first victim in this story - and how was her memory honored? What she a face on a t-shirt? Did her parents find comfort when Demarchoe and his co-defendant were convicted - what about when they were exonerated?
We love interacting with our listeners on Social Media:
Could Demarchoe’s story have really started years before he was born?
We talk about how North Tulsa was created, speak candidly with people who are or were a gang member, and discuss how a person gets into a gang how they get out. Brooke attempts to discover if Demarchoe was in a gang.
Also learn what happened at the hospital after Demarchoe was shot. This episode is intense with some adult language - make good choices.

De'Marchoe Carpenter was only seventeen when he was convicted of murder - that he didn't commit. Unfortunately, De'Marchoe's, story isn't a rare occurrence.
When a jury convicts an innocence man beyond beyond a reasonable doubt. The system is flawed.
Despite all the evidence disproving that De'Marchoe Carpenter killed Karen Summers, he was still arrested and convicted. This series podcast outlines the issues in the justice system that leads to wrongful conviction.
Brooke shares her opinion on Richard's innocence or guilt. Additionally she shares her beliefs on how the justice system is inciting misconduct and unethical practices.
Two witnesses heard a sound consistent with a gunshot at the time Richard claimed a gun was shot. No one told the defense - it seems like that is clearly a Brady Violation.
Appeals are not about innocence or guilt. They’re about procedure and making sure everyone followed the law on both sides. It’s about making sure that people get a fair trial.
Richard Nicolas did not get a fair trial. This episode is where the rubber meets the road. This is the one where I tell you what compelled me to make this podcast.
The trial's first issue started before it was even scheduled - the possibility of justice continued to decline throughout jury selection and throughout the entire trial. Meeting the attorney's, the judge, as the trial commences.
Demarchoe Carpenter was a teenager when he was sentenced to forever in prison - but the thing is he wasn’t guilty. Using the details of Demarchoe’s story we are going to try and discover what leads to wrongful conviction and work towards finding a solution.
