David Cox’s body was found in April of 1994 with a gunshot in the back of neck and three more in the torso. But, for three months before that, he was a missing person. And we hear directly from David himself - in a radio interview that he did when "A Few Good Men" first came out. David disappeared from his home in Natick, Massachusetts in January of 1994. Three months later, his body was found in the woods over a half a mile from the nearest road. He had a gunshot wound in the base of his neck and three more in the left side of his torso. In today's episode, we hear from Don Marcari who was David Cox's lawyer in Gitmo after he was involved in the hazing of a fellow marine. David and the other marines involved in the incident were charged with attempted murder and faced decades in jail. But, there was an offer on the table - David could take an other than honorable discharge and go home. It sounds like an easy decision, but David said he was simply following orders and he decided to fight the charges in court. This story became the inspiration for the hit movie 'A Few Good Men.' Not long after the movie was released, David was murdered. He was shot from behind once in the base of the neck and three more times in the left side of his torso. His case remains unsolved.

David Cox was killed when he was just 27 years old in 1994. David’s experiences as a Marine stationed in Guantanamo Bay Cuba were depicted in the 1992 film “A Few Good Men.” When the movie was released, David spoke with the media about what really happened in Gitmo and he was planning to file a lawsuit against the filmmakers. However, David’s plans were permanently put on hold when he disappeared from his home in Natick, Massachusetts. Three months later, his body was found in the woods over a half a mile from the nearest road. Authorities believe David walked into the woods with his killer, in a foot and a half of snow, wearing sneakers and his Marine Corps jacket – which he pretty much never wore. He had a gunshot wound in the base of his neck and three more in the left side of his torso. David's murder has received minimal coverage since it happened. It was a very sensational case with a Hollywood aspect to it, so much of the media at that time was focused on that aspect, perhaps to the detriment of the truth. Despite wide and sometimes extreme speculation, David's investigation remains open to this day, and David's killer remains at large.
