Meet the winery that's changing the world!
The wait is over. We’re excited to unveil an exciting episode bringing to you a new way of making and selling wine.
Gary Vaynerchuk along with Nate Schroetter and Jon Troutman grew tired of wine lovers in the US being forced to pay too much for a great bottle. The traditional channels add big mark-ups to the price of wine, and too often, the farmers who pour their soul into producing great bottles are forgotten about. Empathy Wines is a result of their empathy for The Farmer, and empathy for You, the wine drinker.
They're working with quality-conscious and sustainable grape growers in great regions of California, to produce incredible bottles of rosé, white, and red blends that ship direct to your doorstep.
Tor the top Club Empathy customers, they've created a personal Wine Concierge service. Need help selecting a special bottle of Cabernet to gift your father-in-law for the holidays? Planning a trip to wine country and want VIP access to tasting rooms? They actually give you a private number to text for any wine inquiry you have. For more details, head to empathywines.com.
With social media today, it’s so easy to get lost in the noise. Many people ask me how to build a personal brand. It’s a lot of work, it takes dedication and it requires providing value.
However, here are 7 tips for you to get yourself started down the path of a personal brand.
This takes reflection and understand of WHO you are and accepting that person fully.
Decide where you’re going to ‘play’ and how you are going to do it.
What are your passions or hobbies? Favorite sports team? Be sure to show that off. Don’t be afraid to show that flair!
Your words and actions, everywhere, must match. Consistency = Integrity.
Take action! Go out there and get it done. It starts with YOU and ends with ACTION.
You are your biggest advocate.
Andiamo!

Are brands allowed an opinion in the modern media landscape? In the news recently, Under Armour CEO has been in the crosshairs over his comments that alluded to President Trump being "good for business."
However, did the media tell the entire story? And more to the point, are brands allowed to have an opinion, or must they be responsible to their shareholders in a way that creates no waves?
Joining hosts Robert Hix and Vincenzo Landino are Savannah Peterson with Savvy Millennial and Antigone Peyton at Cloudigy Law.

Vincenzo is an entrepreneur, speaker and host of the Brand Boost Podcast. With experience as a brand correspondent, Vincenzo’s portfolio includes a 1 billion impression campaign launch for Applebee’s as well as work for Mazda, Kia Motors, Paul Mitchell Schools, Barilla Pasta, DC United, Tinder, and Zoomph.

When Kathy Klotz-Guest approached me about doing a co-created piece of content, I wasn’t sure what to think. A co-written piece of content, like a blog? I know it’s been done before, but wasn’t sure what we’d have in common enough to get two trains of thought down into one post.
Of course, you must try everything at least once in life, so I decided to roll with this. Besides, how painful could it be? Kathy is a rockstar, hilarious and super smart. Plus, she just wrote a book, so I knew she could help with the whole writing thing. Oh yea, go get her book here.
Kathy Klotz-Guest and I chatted a few weeks back on the Brand Boost Podcast. In fact, that episode is so good, here it is for you to listen to:
We chatted about improv and marketing, Happy Days, how “human” – yes, still an important word – has also ironically jumped the marketing shark in many ways, and why all marketers should think like improvisers whose central tenet is “yes and.” That is how improvisers build scenes together. This means you accept a statement made to you and add onto that idea so you are co-creating in a purposeful way.
I’m a great improviser. Kathy is the improv queen. This was a match made in content heaven.
Of course, we also talked about all of this in the context of Kathy’s new book: “Stop Boring Me! How to Create Kick-Ass Marketing Content, Products and Ideas Through the Power of Improv.”
Kathy believes this, and I couldn’t agree more: every marketer and businessperson, for that matter, should take an improv class.
So, we chatted, it was a great conversation and when we were almost done chatting, we talked excitedly about how improv is fundamentally about being collaborative. The recording stopped, and there we were, talking for another 30 minutes about this stuff. Naturally, we were both uber-excited about this new-found friendship and realized that this is how content creation can be better.
What’s ironic is that this flies in the face of a very specific barrier to being more open and more collaborative with other parts of the organization and with customers for creating great content – control. In short, companies that think they control the brand are not only misguided (there is no such thing); they are getting in their own way when it comes to creating better content with others.
Here we were, Kathy and I, ‘yes-and-ing’ each other on an idea that needed to be written. And that conversation inspired the list below. And, in true “improv” fashion, we wanted this article to be a collaborative effort as well. Kathy started some of the ideas, I added and we polished it up for our audiences.
Without further adieu…
The customer always has the final word on the brand. It doesn’t matter what you say about your brand or products, if your customers aren’t happy or advocating for you, you h

This is the time of year when everybody creates “prediction posts.” Here’s the number one marketing prediction seen everywhere: “This is the year of Facebook Live. Companies will move their content production to live video.”
Mark W. Schaefer doesn’t agree. What’s the reason a company would NOT do live video?
Those obstacles don’t go away in a year, or even two years. Will there be an increase in live video? Of course. That seems like a pretty safe prediction. Will there be a transformation in 2017? No. It’s a couple of years away.

Amy Schmittauer joins me to discuss why video is right now and discusses the new show, by Aftermarq, "Afterthoughts".
The mission of Savvy Sexy Social is to empower brands to embrace their amazing personality and share it with the world. By sharing desired content of your target market and becoming the go-to resource for customer, you’ll discover how to build brand advocacy and engaging relationships introduced and nurtured by social media in turn building your business.
I’ve always loved the process of finding the perfect name for my creations (and pets). But I just got plain lucky with this one. When I wanted to create a resource that helps brands design a plan to effectively and relatably reach an activated and loyal audience, the words ‘savvy’, ‘sexy’, and ‘social’ truly described everything I knew I wanted to share.
SAVVY — Understanding the purpose, context and optimal techniques of building brand awareness no matter if the tools are online or off.
SEXY — Learning how to appeal to your audience online in a way that connects you to real people and makes happen or fits into relatable conversations.
SOCIAL — Discovering amazing opportunities at your disposal that you have to connect with people by finding where they’re hanging out and how to best work your brand name into the conversation.
All in all, this is a place where you can learn executable steps to discover your brand’s personality and market it across platforms in a fashion that works with the current trends of inviting conversations and telling stories.

Before Cody worked at the social media reputation management company, he started managing pay per click ads for small and medium-sized businesses.
Along the way, Cody found out that he had a knack for optimizing online ads! Once he left the social media company, Cody ramped up his pay per click advertising clients to turn it into a full-time business. Along the way, he learned how to write “epic” content and guest posts by following what the other top blogs were doing. (That means he jumped from “Financial Analyst” to “Marketing Director” to “CEO” as my job title)
The issue then became scaling up. He's always had fire in my belly for helping small businesses and he love the impact paid search, content marketing and guest blogging can have on a business’ bottom line. But he knew if he wanted to grow his business and make more money, he would need to find larger corporate clients that could pay him bigger fees.
That’s when Cody decided to start the MarketDoc blog and create online courses, to help small business owners, solopreneurs and bloggers grow their businesses by combining the power of effective blogging and content promotion strategies that work. There’s too much misinformation out there and he wants to serve as your go to resource for what’s working right now.
Cody has been featured by some of the top blogs out there, like Lifehack, SEMrush, Kikolani and soon Kissmetrics, Nathalie Lussier’s AmbitionAlly blog and more! Cody writes at least 1,000 words per day because he enjoys it and enjoys teaching small businesses as much as possible.

Rescuing small businesses is all the rage on television. Whether its Jon Taffer with Bar
Rescue, or Tabitha Coffey’s Salon Takeover. Despite the fact that none of them do it, these TV
shows are fueling interest in a new trend. Move over Real Estate Flippers, Ace Chapman is
building a nationwide group of business flippers.
Ace bought his first business at 19 with some savings from a summer job and caught the
business buying bug. He leveraged $3,000 he saved working the summer before college into
buying a business for $70,000. Over the last 16 years he has bought 40 businesses.
Everything ranging from a Mortgage Company to a Clothing Retailer.
And right now he is seeing an explosion in the market for businesses under $2,000,000. “There are millions of Baby Boomer business owners who will bring their business to market in the next decade so they can retire. During the recession, many baby boomers wanted to sell their company but decided to hold off until better economic times.”
At the same time many entrepreneurs are realizing the risks associated with starting from scratch are too high and are deciding to buy an existing profitable business instead.
Business sales saw a spike in 2013. While we saw a 68% increase in 2013 according to BizBuySell.com, business brokers expect 2014 to be even bigger. And while private equity firms are well positioned to take advantage of this increase in inventory, very few are paying attention to what Ace calls the Micro Private Equity Market.
Ace began working with first time business buyers of business buyers and helping them find, do due diligence, and finance small business acquisitions. “I have had a lot of people who find me and ask to invest in my deals. I’d rather show you what I am doing than take your money and have to split my returns.”
Since starting his network of business buyers he has helped members close deals all over the country. From 2 Sylvan Learning Centers in Seattle, to a Software Company in Pittsburgh and from a Fitness Gym in Huntsville to a Catholic Retailer in South Dakota were deals done in recent months by the network.
Business buyers are attracted to buying a business instead of starting one for obvious reasons.
● It’s easier to get financing to buy an existing business than to start the new
one. Bankers and investors are more comfortable in dealing with
businesses which already have a proven work results.
● Starting a new business requires investments in a period of 3 to 6 months,
and many entrepreneurs never get to the period of earning. When buying
an assisting business you have an idea of what your salary is going to be
day one.
● Business buyers do not have to go through hiring and training new
employees, developing operation systems, and marketing plans. They
start day one improving the business instead of building each department
from scratch.
Still, Mr. Chapman says buying a business is risky, especially if you do not know
what you are doing. “Whenever you are buying a business you are looking at the
past, there is no guarantee that those numbers reflect the future”, says Chapman.
“You should find a business broker or advisor who has your best interest at heart.
The more experience you and your advisors have the easier it is to find the hidden
landmines in any business.”

At the recent F8 Developer Summit, Facebook released Bot Engine, to help create smarter bots, specifically for Facebook Messenger.
The Bot Engine is developed from Wit.ai, which Facebook acquired last year. Wit.ai is the framework for Facebook Messenger.
f8-1024x576.jpg" alt="facebook-f8" width="443" height="249">
Facebook's new strategy with Bot Engine is to get developers to embrace the framework and give Facebook Messenger users some specialized bots.
“Send receive API is more than enough,” Facebook VP of Messaging Products David Marcus said. “But if you want to build more complex bots, you can use our Bot Engine.”
The Bot Engine relies on machine learning. It means that you can feed it sample conversations so that it can handle many different variations of the same questions.
I caught up with yu.com">Dennis Yu, CTO of Blitzmetrics, to get some of his inside insights on what’s going on.
Dennis is so far ahead of the curve when it comes to what is going on, I thought it would be too much to handle for some of you, but he insisted the people need to know this stuff.
On bots economic impact:
People are fundamentally cognitively lazy-- so why have to figure out what you want and hunt it down when the AI can guess intelligently and do it for you?
Bots will be so smart that most humans in process-driven jobs will be unnecessary. The bot wars begun long ago and Facebook has the scale and strategy to win. Facebook has solved the infrastructure, programming, and even AI issues-- making it easier, ironically, for anyone to start a large-scale business.
Report.jpg" alt="Minority-Report" width="274" height="181">Minority Report is almost here.
While the masses will be out of jobs (see World Economic Forum research), the botwars will create entrepreneurship like the world has never seen before.
The financial ramification is that Facebook is the ultimate utility-- providing nearly everything "free" to use. You need only agree to connect yourself to the metaverse and if you're a business, use their advertising platform.
On what the Messenger platform means for business marketers:
Marketers and marketing tool providers face a Faustian bargain, that is, adopt the platform to have it all "solved for you" or perish.
Facebook Messenger is a platform for not just communication but all commerce, with the power of all of Facebook's federated properties behind it, all reinforcing one another.
From a marketing standpoint, Facebook is automating away the friction of having to "construct" complex funnels, allocate budget, and whatever else that isn't directly delighting customers.
From a business standpoint, Facebook has the world's most powerful marketing platform. Now all they need is GCT (goals, content, and targeting) to be able to maximize your bus
In today's day and age of sub-hour delivery services, how can marketers increase the customer experience?
1. Be ready to answer questions at key moments
AirBnB
2. Build trust and the transactions will follow
Refinery29
3. Question assumptions about your customers
Adidas
4. Don't try to engineer your brand's humanity

Haters are not your problem. . . .
Ignoring them is.
Eighty percent of companies say they deliver outstanding customer service, but only 8 percent of their customers agree. This book will help you close that gap by reconfiguring your customer service to deliver knockout experiences.
The near-universal adoption of smartphones and social media has fundamentally altered the science of complaints. Critics (“haters”) can now express their displeasure faster and more publicly than ever. These trends have resulted in an overall increase in complaints and a belief by many businesses that they have to “pick their spots” when choosing to answer criticisms.
Bestselling author Jay Baer shows why that approach is a major mistake. Based on an extensive proprietary study of how, where, and why we complain, Hug Your Haters proves that there are two types of complainers, each with very different motivations:
·Offstage haters. These people simply want solutions to their problems. They complain via legacy channels where the likelihood of a response is highest—phone, e-mail, and company websites. Offstage haters don’t care if anyone else finds out, as long as they get answers.
·Onstage haters. These people are often disappointed by a substandard interaction via traditional channels, so they turn to indirect venues, such as social media, online review sites, and discussion boards. Onstage haters want more than solutions—they want an audience to share their righteous indignation.
Hug Your Haters shows exactly how to deal with both groups, drawing on meticulously researched case studies from businesses of all types and sizes from around the world. It includes specific playbooks and formulas as well as a fold-out poster of “the Hatrix,” which summarizes the best strategies for different situations. The book is also filled with poignant and hilarious examples of haters gone wild, and companies gone crazy, as well as inspirational stories of companies responding with speed, compassion, and humanity.
Whether you work for a mom-and-pop store or a global brand, you will have haters—and you can’t afford to ignore them. Baer’s insights and tactics will teach you how to embrace complaints, put haters to work for you, and turn bad news into good outcomes.

Excerpt from Facebook Press Release:
With Facebook Live you can use your phone to share a moment instantly with the people you care about. This means your friends, family or fans can be there with you, and you can respond to their comments and see their reactions.
Since launching Facebook Live last summer to public figures via our Mentions app and more recently to everyone in the US using our iOS and Android apps we’ve been surprised and delighted with how people are using live video to connect and interact with each other all over the world. People are letting their friends discover their hobbies. Parents are using it to share moments in their kids’ lives with their extended families. Athletes are giving people a window into their training. Chefs are bringing their fans into their kitchen. Journalists are hosting global conversations on topics they care about. Aspiring musicians can now put on a live concert for their friends. Many people all over the world are using Facebook Live in many different ways to talk to and interact with the people that matter most to them.
That’s why today we’re excited to announce new features for Facebook Live to give you more ways to discover, share, and interact with live video, and more ways to personalize your live broadcasts.
“Going live” on Facebook feels special because you are going live with the people you care about. Today we’re rolling out the ability to go live in Facebook Groups and Facebook Events. Live in Groups allows you to broadcast to just the people in the Facebook Group – so you can go live in your family group, or share a workout plan in a fitness group. Live in Events means you can go live from a birthday party to allow those that can’t make it to join the fun, and a performer can go live backstage to the people who’ve RSVP-ed to the event to give them a sneak peak. You can even use Events to schedule a live Q&A session. We hope this new ability to both broadcast and watch live video within Groups and Events enables people to connect more deeply with their closest friends, family and the communities of people who share their interests.

Facebook Live is interactive and fun: Live reactions, replaying comments made while live and Live filters will make it even more so. Live Reactions makes it easy for your viewers to express their feelings in real time during a live broadcast. Using the same reactions we launched in News Feed, viewers can select Love, Haha, Wow, Sad or Angry, and the reactions animate right on top of the video. Live Reactions appear in real time and disappear quickly so broadcasters and other viewers can get a sense of how people are feeling at different points during the live video – it’s like hearing the crowd applaud and cheer. When your friend reacts to your video or to a video you are both watching together you’ll see their profile pic and a little starburst before their reaction appears.
Live video on Facebook is truly interactive as broadcasters engage with their commenters and respond to their suggestions and questions. In fact, from initial data, we’ve seen that people comment more than 10 times more on Facebook Live videos than on regular videos. We want

Social Media Headlines for April 1, 2016:
1. Mamma mia, Instagram!
Last week, we found out women love social media. This week, Instagram revealed that 93 percent of moms access its network at least once per week, with 68 percent doing so daily. What's more, more than half of mothers on Instagram follow businesses.
2. Facebook is still about likes
Unmetric, per The Social Times, looked at 10 of the top brand Facebook posts (based on the data vendor's proprietary engagement score) from Feb. 25 to March 5. The mission: to see how the social platform's new reaction buttons—such as Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry—are performing for marketers.
Its research entailed posts from Nissan, Mini Babybel, Bertolli, Windex, LG Mobile, Giorgio Armani Beauty, Arby's, Rebel's Market, LittleThings.com and US Cellular.
The stats show that 93 percent of all interactions are still Likes, while Love is used 4.6 percent of the time.
3. Livestreaming comes of age
Periscope celebrated its 1-year birthday by revealing that it broadcasted 200 million livestreams, and that 100 million of those real-time videos were made in the last three months.
4. Bedside buttons
On Thursday, Amazon said orders via its Dash buttons have increased 75 percent in the last three months. By pressing the Wi-Fi-enabled buttons, Amazon Prime members can quickly order household goods for home delivery.
The Seattle-based e-retail giant released buttons for 78 brands Thursday, including Red Bull, Energizer, Illy Coffee, L'Oréal Paris Revitalift, Slim Jim, Clorox and Trojan, the condom company.
So now folks don't have to stand in line at the grocery store to buy rubbers—they can do it without getting out of bed.
5. Official global hashtags
Trademarks specialty company Thomson CompuMark says that in the last five years 2,898 applications have been filed globally to trademark hashtags. And last year alone, 1,398 applications were filed worldwide to trademark hashtags.
6. The real social happens @work
The influencer marketing player Experticity, buzz-focused company Keller Fay and University of Pennsylvania Wharton School professor Jonah Berger teamed up to run a survey to suss out the volume and impact of recommendations from the average consumer versus an influencer. The study, which polled more than 6,000 people in the U.S., unearthed this interesting tidbit: 53 percent of influencers' recommendations happen while th

Like economic inflation, social media inflation is happening. As more and more people flood the social media platforms, are your followers really valuable? How do you get value from your followers?
Now is a great time to strategize, if you haven't, or hire an agency to help you increase the value of the followers you do have.
First of all, it’s worth noting sluggish performance by the more established platforms. On Facebook in particular once brands realised people were only following them to get free stuff, they stopped giving it away.
Now there are fairly few reasons to follow big brands on the platform, barring the occasional event opportunity. You can also see a big dip back in March when Facebook cleaned up as many inactive and bot profiles as it could.
According to the report this period saw large brands lose the most, with Pepsi dropping a massive 1.8m fans.
Twitter is following the same path, and while we’ve talked about Twitter’s numerous difficulties which may be contributing to this, I’d assume that users are more likely to follow individuals on the platform, with brands getting a look-in for customer service.
Likewise, Pinterest appears steady but unspectacular – the Opera web browser of social media networks, suggesting it has developed a loyal audience but has passed its early high-growth stage.
LinkedIn is of interest here, because user numbers appear to have surged on the platform recently, with brands seeing roughly 3% average monthly growth rate.
However, LinkedIn’s attempts to re-position itself via its publishing functions have resulted in a storm of content which may have resulted in brand messages being buried.
Finally Instagram. At 6-to-8% average growth month-on-month, it’s ruling the roost. In many ways this is unsurprising. Users in general have taken to image-sharing platforms with gusto, and Instagram has been working hard to attract brand partners over the last two years, with strong results.

During the Millennial years, the demographic is in constant flux, given that adults in that 18-34 demo are in "rapid transition." That's according to Nielsen's Q4 2015 Total Audience Report, released this morning, which delved into the media consumption habits of advertising's most elusive, and often mystifying, demographic.
The report found millennials who have started a family spend significantly more time watching TV—an average of an hour per day more than those who don't have children or still live with their parents.
"It's not about age, it's about life stage," wrote Glenn Enoch, evp, audience insights for Nielsen, in the report. "18-34 year olds are not a monolithic group with a common set of technologies or behaviors. Their lives are in rapid transition as they join the workforce, move into their own homes and start families."
The Total Audience Report, which is not to be confused with the Total Audience Measurement ratings that Nielsen is rolling, broke millennials into three separate life stage groups: Dependent Adults (those who are living in someone else's home, usually a parent or parents), On Their Own (those who are living in their own home, with no children) and Starting a Family (those living in their own home, with children).

The main product unveiling expected at Apple's March 21 event is a new 4-inch iPhone that will replace the current iPhone 5s. It's believed that the handset will boast many of the same internal components as the iPhone 6s, including a 12-megapixel camera, A9 processor, and support for Apple Pay.
If the iPhone 5s is discontinued, Apple's entire iPhone product lineup would then feature Apple Pay for the first time ever.
Leaked schematics suggest the new iPhone model will feature an aesthetic similar to the current iPhone 6s series, such as curved edges and a slightly protruding camera, but smaller in size. The rumored name of the product is "iPhone SE."
With the iPhone 5s currently priced at $449 off contract, expect that Apple's new 4-inch model will launch in largely the same price range. It's likely to launch just a matter of days after the keynote.
Whether it's branded as an iPad Air or iPad Pro, Apple is also expected to introduce a new 9.7-inch iPad that will serve as the successor to the iPad Air 2, which first launched in 2014.
The new model is expected to feature many of the same capabilities of the larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro, including the Smart Connector magnetic port for keyboard accessories, as well as a four-speaker array and possibly the beefed-up A9X processor.
