In today's society, discussing mental health is more in vogue than ever. What was once considered a taboo subject, mental health is now discussed everywhere, and is recognized as a serious health issue to address. As antiquated stigmas surrounding mental health fade, we are challenged to understand what constitutes a healthy mind and spirit. This is even more true as we navigate a post-COVID world, and how this tumultuous period has re-wired our priorities. Focusing on your happiness and well-being is more important than ever. However, this space can sometimes be hard to unpack.
This week, Darius Hicks of the “While Black” podcast and Jay Connor of "Extraordinary Negroes" joins us. We discuss mental health in a post-pandemic world. They talk about how COVID has changed how we approach our mental health, how necessary it is to create vulnerable spaces with friends, the secret power in a good cry, and the importance of celebrating oneself.
Their conversation was an amazing chance to speak about mental wellness and how to prioritize it in your life. Learning how to manage your mental health is critical to growing emotionally and part of your overall health. Thanks for tuning in!
Support the showGoal setting and going after your dreams can be daunting. It requires dedication, persistence, toughness, guile, and patience. It forces us to ask ourselves some tough questions; What do you aspire to be? Are you driven purely by career success or are there personal goals you are pushing for? Everyone’s goals may be different, but the energy of your pursuit is universal. You must be willing to take chances and to take risks.
Prioritizing your dreams and going after them is critical to reaching your goals. You have to be willing to bet big on yourself and go for it. Do not wait anyone else to give you permission or approval to go after your dreams. Oftentimes, you must take a leap of faith and rely on yourself to figure it out. There is no step-by-step template for attaining your dreams. The only guarantee is to put yourself out there and make it happen.
On this episode of Blk Pod Collective, I am joined by Twila Dang, founder and CEO of Matriarch Digital Media. Taken from the Black Pod Festival, this enlightening conversation focuses on her journey through digital media and building successful and sustainable platforms.
We also focus on how to organize your business, where to find critical data, and how to define success in your eyes. Dang speaks on the power of investing in yourself and taking chances in order to grow, which is deeply important while developing your brand.
A huge thank you to our audience for participating during our conversation. We all learned so much that we can take back to our businesses and passions. A remind to put your dreams first and pursuing them with vigor is something that we all can benefit from. Thanks for listening!
