On this episode we discuss "Mahou Tsukai Chappy" and "Marvelous Melmo".
Love and Justice coming to you live from Anime Los Angeles! We cover the many iterations of everyone's favorite damsel in distress, Tuxedo Mask.
On this episode we discuss "Himitsu no Akko-chan" and "Mahou no Mako-chan".
For our inaugural Magical Girl History Lesson we discuss "Princess Knight" and "Sally the Witch".
Happy new year Moonies! This week on the podcast we discuss Sera Myu: Le Mouvement Final to finsh out our coverage of the new Myus. We're all about Galaxia's crazy eyes, the terrifyingly adorable Chibi Chibi and the return of Satomi as Sailor Cosmos. Also are Uranus and Nepture dating IRL because, if you look at their respective twitter feeds, it seems like they might be?
For our final episode of 2017, we're joined by our favorite maigcal boys, Sam McClellan and Adam Ferry to discuss the (sadly, somewhat lackluster) final chapter of the supremely charming magical boy anime series "Cute High Earth Defense Club Love" AKA the recent OVA with a couple extra "loves" on the end.
Happy Halloween one and all! At last the saga of the Dracula myus has finally come to a close with this episode's coverage of the myu Last Dracul Saishuu Shou. We're not quite sure what happened in this one. Mandrake siblings, tiny werewolf babies, and a triangle box that is a prison sometimes but not all the time raise a lot of questions. But we do our best to put our heads together and figure it out. Not too sure if the mystery of the triangle box will ever be solved though. Stay safe and spoopy out there, you crazy kids!
It's been a while but the L&J crew is back to close out the Nehelenia arc of Stars! That's episodes 171 and 172. While we enjoyed this arc overall we're a little fuzzy on Nehelenia's origin as well as the ending. Was it a dream? Is it a parallel universe? Who knows! But all that aside, it is undeniable how badass the senshi are, especially Hotaru. Get you some, you adorable murder machine!
The lovely Carrie Sleutskaya has joined us again to go over her International Sailor Moon Day event: Legend of the Moon. We talk about swag bags, dancing jams, our favorite moments. We hint at what could be in store for next year. We even, oddly enough, talk about throwing birds. If nothing else, we at least enterain ourselves.
Don't call it a come back! We've been here this whole time, we just got swept up in the craziness that is con season. And what better way to reunite with you all than to talk about some International Sailor Moon Day happenings, specifically the Legend of the Moon event! We're joined by event coordinator and all-around Renaissance woman Carrie Sleutskaya to talk about the event she and her creative team are putting together. Want to check out the event for yourselves? Get your tickets while they last! Make sure to use promo code SERENITY at checkout to get a sweet discount.

We're talking episodes 169 and 170 of the 90s anime, AKA episodes 3 & 4 of Sailor Stars, AKA two of the BEST episodes of the 90s anime. Especially episode 169, which is a beauitfully contructed horror story of the psychological thriller variety. Though Mercury and Uranus's unlikely partnership in epiosde 170 provides some really nice character development for the latter, making for a compelling and satisfying viewing experience.
We're back!! And we're cutting through all the fat and getting right into what many (many being we) consider to be some of the best episodes every churned out by the 90s anime - episodes 1 & 2 of Sailor Stars, AKA episodes 167 & 168 overall, AKA "oh crap, we forgot to put the Outer Senshi in Sailor Moon S. We finally solve the mystery of babies in clown pajamas, theorize that Uranus and Neptune have, in fact, just been hanging in this aquarium for the past year and are confused as to why litrally NO ONE is alarmed that Sailor Pluto, who was last seen dying in an exploding helicopter is suddenly alive again.
Hey Love and Justice fans!! Just wanted to give you all a quick update re: what's been going on with us and our plans for the podcast over the summer.
Our personal Cosplay Idol Jessie Pridemore joins us this week to share tales of the struggles of being a weeaboo back in the late 1990s. In addition to her totally endearing cosplay origin tale, which is 100% Sailor Moon related, she talks about branching out from the Star Wars Expanded Universe into the weird, wonderful world of manga, the life changing power of Battle Angel Alita, and the trouble with animated adaptations of CLAMP.
It's round 2 of our in-depth moonie interview series. This time we are joined by the talented Ashley Robinson. Ashley hails from the Great White North (Canada), where the 90s dub originated so we get a whole new perspective on early anime, or Japanimation, consumption. Be it in the basement of a comic book store or the perfect high school locker heist, the moonie love is strong.

We're launching a brand new type of episode to help fill the void until Sailor Moon Crystal [eventually] returns. Kicking off our long form interview series is Malika Lim, indie game developer and Twitch streamer extraordinaire, who you might recognize today from her many streaming sessions on Hyper RPG. But if you were living in Florida circa 2005, you might recognize her from a local newspaper article highlighting her work, and that of her best friends, on a Sailor Moon inspired student film project. Her tales of using a Lazy Susan to create spinning motions in transformation sequences, early Avid hacks, and creating animations in MS paint will warm your heart and make you feel like you can go forth and achieve your dreams.
This week we've decided to just keep going with Rainbow Crystal arc, even if it confuses/infuriates us. We do our best to analyze and make sense of this particular 90s plot device but end up with more questions. Meanwhile Lola considers becoming the kid in the DARE PSA we were all warned about.
We've returned to our usually scheduled Sailor Moon programming with some filler shenanigans! This time we are joined by voice actor, friend, and Sailor Moon novice: Chris Rickabaugh! We decided to start him off with episode 31 of the 90s anime, Loved and Chased: Luna's Worst Day Ever. Join us as we do our best to guide Chris through the extensive moonie mythos while also emphasizing the point that Bob Barker was right when he said spay and neuter your pets.

Kicking it old school once again! Going off the rails and on tangents, like always! We're back it: revisiting the anime of our early fandoms. Today it's The Vision of Escaflowne! If you're old like us, you might've caught this gem on FoxKids back in the day. This story rich anime is one of our favorites, even if we do have difficulty remembering all the details. We highly recommend it either way!
Get ready for a trip down memory lane if you're thirty-to-thirty-five-ish. The hilarious Joe Starr, writer of Honest Trailers and host of Flash and Friends on Screen Junkies, joins us to reminisce about simpler times when all the main characters were introduced in episode one and stated their intentions outright. We're talking about what was once known as Ronin Warriors in the U.S., possibly better known now by it's original title, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers thanks to its current availability on Crunchyroll. We also reference MANY other animted series from our childhood so good luck to anyone born after 1986. Or anyone who didn't get all the random first run syndication cartoons on their local UPN network.
It's here! Our uber-sparlky, full of happy Sailor Moon feels 100th episode! There's nostalgia! Giveaways! A dramatic fanfiction reading! And even an impromptu musical performance! But mostly there's a whole of love coming your way for supporting our lives podcast and making our lives brighter every day. Happy 100th episode. We love you.
By popular request – and just before our 100th episodes – we proudly present our episode on one of our collective favorite anime series, Revolutionary Girl Utena. Named "one of the most important anime series of the 90s" by Anime News Network, it's a beautiful mosaic of classic shoujo styling, takarazuka, shadow puppetry and a whole lotta symbolism. We barely scartch the surface in this 1.5 hour episode so don't be surpised if we revisit it somewhere along the road. Because revolutionizing the world is complicated and kind of like escaping the Matrix.
It's all fangirls all the time on this special Gundam Wing Edition of Love and Justice! (Yeah, we know, we're supposed to be a Sailor Moon podcast) Kelby and Emma delve REAL deep into their weeaboo backstories and reveal how they went from innocent, Mary Sue-writing baby Otaku, to Total Fujoshi Trash thanks to a series that was supposed to be about giant robots fighting a war. There really aren't too many spoilers for the series as a whole, so if you're in the process of watching Gundam Wing you needn't fear. And if you're not in the process of watching Gundam Wing GET ON IT because it's on Hulu now.
Love and Justice is bringing you more Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon goodness to fill your lives with this week, as we discuss episodes 13 & 14 - the first couple epsidoes in which Kunzite appears!! He starts as an unassuming, amnesic man in a sweater, who is supposed to look sweet but kinda looks like a serial killer, then evolves into a sexy bad guy with a kick ass sword. We delve deep into reincarnation theory, one of our favorite Sailor Moon related topics, applaud the evolution of Usagi and Mamoru's relationship, and are alarmed by the fact that Luna, a stuffed cat, seems to be frequenting local high school band performanes...
Happy Valentine's Day, Moonies! You've been hoping and waiting and now we can finally present you with our thoughts and feelings about Snow White with the Red Hair season 2! Hooray! In this episode we discuss the second season and conclusion of this beloved series. We explore our Obi feels (or in the case of Sam, non-Obi feels). Lola and Kelby continue to ship everyone with everyone and all the character continue to be good at their jobs. Way to go, everybody! Grab that discount Valentine's Day candy and enjoy
Keepin' it classic this week witih a good old fashioned manga side story that, aside from a really sexy Rei/Minako Naoko Takeuchi splash page/cover illustration, isn't worth writing home about. It had the potential to be a sexier of version The Ring, but instead of focussing on what could have been a scary, seductive ghost (who was trapped in a well, again, The Ring but sexy), it gets bogged down by fart jokes and unecessary bickering. Minako is her most vacuous , Rei her most callous - the whole thing feels very disjointed and out of character. But again, that cover art you guys!! It's so drool-worthy.
Our mini Myu marathon concludes with "Sailor Moon SuperS - Yume Senshi - Ai - Eien Ni..." which was delightfully entertaining after the previous two installments! We're not sure if it's just because the couple were so terrible or "Amour Eternal" was out least favorite of the post 20th Anniversary Myus, but we legitmately enjoyed this show. More than enjoyed, straight up liked - even loved, in Emma's case. The wigs are still tragic, the Senshi's civilian clothes are ridiculous, and Pegasus is a potentially seisure-indicuing light show, but other than that, this show is great! We're as shocked as you are.
Musical Moonday strikes again with Sera Myu Sailor Moon S - Ai no Senshi e no Michi! While agruably not the worst of the Myus we've reviewed thus far, it's certainly the least compelling due to fact that the villains had unclear motivations and basically didn't do anything. Except fly. Oh boy did Kaorinite every fly. And Chibiusa. And Sailor Moon. And Sailors Jupiter and Venus. And Tuxedo Mask on multiple occasions. Also, since the musical loosely followed the plot of the Death Busters arc, they did introduce the idea of the Holy Grail at the top of the show, then literally never mentioned it again. Which basically perfectly summarizes how invested this show was in its own plot (AKA not at all).
It's anohter Musical Moonday coming your way! This time all about the first Sera Myu that (sort of) covered the Black Moon Clan/Sailor Moon R story arc, Tanjou! Ankoku no Princess Black Lady. It suffers, albeit less so, from the same problem as the Dracula musicals: too many characters on stage, horrible lighting, Party City wings on Eternal Sailor Moon. And of course the dreaded additional characters and subplots created specifically for the show that no one wanted or cares about. But hey, Demande and Saphir are played by beautiful ladies and not male pseudo-gymnasts in dad jeans, so that's a plus!
In honor of the upcoming theatrical re-release of the Sailor Moon R film, we're discussing the aliens upon whom the villain-but-also-Mamoru's-boyfriend was based – Ail and An! Specifically their antics in episodes 58 & 59 of the 90s anime, which was the conclusion of their story, and basically encapsulated the entirety of any semblance of meaningful plot in this classic filler arc. While we start off actually quite enoying these episodes, espcially in regards to Ail's respectful romantic feelings towards Usagi, we don't love the conclusion and ultimately dream up a couple of what feel are superior, but decidedly darker endings.
Welcome to the first episode of 2017! We are ready to show this new year who's boss! Today we are fancasting everyone's favorite sailor guardians as the queens of Logo's RuPaul's Drag Race. (Available on Hulu and AmazonPrime, woohoo!) We are joined by special guest and drag queen enthusiast, Robert Edward, as well as frequent collaborator, Sam McClellan. Full disclaimer: Lola has never seen an episode of Drag Race but makes a valiant effort pulling from the cast of Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmore. We also discuss the impact of drag queens and Sailor Moon on expressions of femininity and try to fit in as many DPM's (that's "Draculas per minute") as we can.

Happy Holidays from all of us at Love and Justice! We're discussing the first of two (albeit, almost identical) Sailor Moon Christmas albums, Sailor Moon Super S: Christmas for You. We have no idea why it exists. It's literally just the seiyuu of the Inner Senshi, collectively called "Peach Hips" singing very unoriginal covers of Christmas songs your grandma knows. But they're all pretty good singers. We also talk about other Sailor Moon related topics and generally express our thanks to you, our wonderful listeners, for making what has been objectively a pretty tough year, really rather wonderful.
You know that we here at Love and Justice love our Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. This week we're covering the live performance entitled "Kirari Super Live" (roughly, Glittering/Sparkling Super Live) which was rehearsed and performed literally in the midst of taping the 2003-2004 series. We enjoy this WAY more than we've any right to. There's virtually no plot. The Sailor Senshi lip sync all of their songs. We're not even sure the Shitennou actually want to be there (okay, Zoisite almost definitely doesn't want to be there). But legitimately? If you're a fan of PGSM, we recommend watching this. If only to witness Jadeite and Nephrite's ad-libbed interaction with the very, very young audience.
Thanks to the fabulous folks at missdream.org, we've finally got some fresh Sailor Moon content to discuss: the latest installment in the fabulous new Sera Myu series, Amour Eternal! Though we're not all in total agreement, we find it to be slightly less spectacular than its predecessors, partially due to the change of cast, particularly in the case of Sailor Moon herself. But we do enjoy many of the new songs, the beautifully, confidently queer and fabulous Amazon Trio, and the precious cinnamon roll that is Helios.

Keepin' it classic once again this week and delving into the magical world of the Sailor Moon 90s anime series (available to watch, uncut, in its entirely on Hulu - yay!). We're covering episode 95 – specifically the original Japanese version, and the often lamented Cloverway dub first seen on Toonami on June 19, 2000. This is the episode wherein the relationship between Uranus and Neptune in the dub was infamously branded "Cousins". Surprsingly, other than that, very little is different between the two versions and Cloverway, again schockingly, actually improved upon some of the moments we had problems with in the original Japanese version.

One of our favorite (and now officially verified on Twitter!) guest hosts, Xander Jeanneret (@Xanderrific), returns to discuss our favorite new fall anime Yuri!!! on Ice. This show has brought so much joy into our lives in the short amount of time that it's been airing that we decided we just really really needed to talk about it. Especially in a time when we could all use a little joy in our lives. It's weirdly relatable for a series that is technically about something with which all of us are unfamiliar: professional figure skating. If you guys haven't watched it yet, we highly recommend you do. We're certain it will make you as happy as it makes us.

This time around we're talking act 35 of Sailor Moon Crystal, act 35 of the manga and a little bit of episode 125 of the 90s anime. We're very pleased with the portrayal of Hotaru's mad scientist dad, love what Crystal did with Kaori's possession scene and are still confused as to what the Inner Senshi are attempting achieve by closing their eyes and kneeling with their backs to the Mugen Academy in the classic series.

This time we're talking Act 32 of Sailor Moon Crystal (which, again, is episode 33) Act 32 of the manga, and Episode 123 of the 90s anime. We struggle to pronounce the name of Cyprine's counterpart, come to the conclusion that 90s Mamoru really is the worst dad ever, and dream up some serious Uranus/Neptune Silver Millennium headcanons

Returning guest star champion Amanda Miller (@amanda_celine) joins us to discuss Act 31 of Crystal, Act 31 of the manga, and Episode 121 of the 90s anime. While both stories are about Tellu and plants, only Crystal and the manga are about Sailor Jupiter at all. As in, she doesn't even appear in the 90s anime, despite the fact the original story in the manga was kind of about her. We're thankful to see Jupiter restored to her full glory in Crystal and even more thankful to discover that Crystal/manga Usagi doesn't allow her seemingly six year old daughter to wander around the streets of Juuban alone at night.

This week we cover Act 29 of Sailor Moon Crystal, Act 29 of the manga and episodes 93, 144, and 120 of the 90s anime. We applaud Sailor Moon Crystal for beautifully capturing the complex nature of Usagi and Haruka's relationship, love how both Mamoru and Michiru are portrayed as the respective significant others in this scenario, and are super sad to see Mimete gone so soon. Because, silly as some of the plot lines were, we just really love how much screen time she got in the 90s anime.

This week's episode covers Act 28 of Sailor Moon Crystal (which is actually episode 29 of the series) Act 28 of the manga and references a bunch of episodes of the 90s anime mostly spanning between episodes 107 and 111, which cover the bulk of Eudial's storyline. We're joined by our dear friend Xander Jeanneret (@Xanderrific of King of the Nerds and Library Bards fame) who lived in Japan for a while and actually speaks Japanese. Needless to say, he was able to provide some pretty valuable insight into the Haruka pronoun/is she pretending to be a boy or not situation. He also brings up some interesting points regarding choices made in the 90s anime to make Sailor Moon a bit more kid-friendly i.e. really emphasizing Usagi's healing/love powers rather than having her attacks actually kill people, like she does to Eudial in Crystal/the manga.
twitter: @LnJPod, Facebook: Love and Justice,
email: loveandjusticepod@gmail.com
This week we cover the rest of Act 27 of the manga (and about 10 pages of Act 28!), Act 27 Part 2 of Crystal (which we think is technically episode 28?) and episode 112 of the 90s anime. We're pretty confused as to why 90s Chibiusa doesn't immediately recognize that Professor Tomoe is a Super Villain, wonder if Japan understands how filming works, and have a sexual awakening upon experiencing Haruka's perfect superhero landing in Sailor Moon Crystal.

It’s another thrilling Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon edition of Love and Justice! This time we’re talking all things Hina Kusaka, AKA Mamoru's fiancé/Usagi’s romantic rival! Except, she’s super nice. And hardworking. And likable. So actually we all feel terrible for both she and Usagi and are mostly mad at Mamoru, who really needs to work on his communication skills. Also there’s a super adorable plot line involving children and chocolates.

We’re kicking off the new year with another spectacular Sera Myu special! This time it’s the 2014 musical Petite Étrangère, once again featuring a fabulous all female cast that will cause literally everyone to question their sexuality. Returning guest host Jenn Morrison (@JennRipley237) shares in our confusing desire to simultaneously make out with and also be Rubeus, our praise of this production's particularly impressive wigs, and our shock at the unprecedented revelation that Chibiusa can actually be an adorable, likable character.

It's the Love and Justice Halloween Special of your dreams – we're talking about Sera Myu - Last Dracul Jokyoku! It has everything you could ever want in a musical. Sexy dancing ladies! Sparkly capes! Professor Tomoe! Multiple vampires! A mariachi band! Okay, so they're not ACTUALLY a mariachi band, but the costumes the four homunculi characters wear certainly resemble one. Incidentally, so does Tuxedo Mask's costume...at the very least, he looks like he should be performing at a quinceañera.

Megan Salinas (@themenguin) returns to talk episode 11 of the 90s anime! Which was episode 8 of the DiC dub, and also the first episode of Sailor Moon she ever saw. We’re actually surprised by how little DiC DID cut out and are confused by WHAT they chose to cut, which was basically just 60s seconds at the very beginning of the episode involving the primary characters all having different attitudes towards their mission to locate the Moon Princess. Yet they kept the scene of Usagi and Rei manhandling a small child. And Rei beating the crap out of Usagi.*
*note: both instances of violence stemmed from an argument re: the nature of animatronic bear.

Adam Ferry (@damjerry from our Cute High Earth Defense Club Love episode) returns to talk episodes 21 and 22 of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, a.k.a. the advent of the delightfully villainous Dark Mercury! We all somewhat reluctantly admit that Motoki, despite his unhealthy obsession with turtles, is sort of adorable, agree that evil Ami has way better fashion sense than good Ami, and finally settle on a nickname we love for the long neglected Zoisite.

It’s a spectacularly spooky filler episode of Love and Justice, featuring spectacularly hilarious guest star Jon Durnell, stand-up comedian extraordinaire, fresh off a plane from the latest stop on his whirlwind U.S. comedy tour. We’re talking about episode 20 of the 90s anime, which was one of several episodes notoriously absent from the DiC dub, but lovingly dubbed and distributed in the U.S. by Viz last year. Now this episode MIGHT have made sense if it were an actual Halloween episode, since the majority of the supporting cast seem to be variations on classic monsters seen in Universal Horror films, except it takes place at a beach. In the summer (note: October is also fall in Japan).

It’s the triumphant return of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon! Emma and Lola are joined by the awesomely adorable and talented Michelle, aka “Chubby Bunny” to discuss the "Special Act: We’re Getting Married!!" (yes, there really are two exclamation points) We’re pretty sure that the production designers dug into the wardrobe stock of whatever Super Sentai series Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers stole all of their fight footage from, question whether or not Japan understands what doctors do/how hospitals work, and, thanks to Michelle, learn all about prop caucasians and the use of stunt priests in western style weddings in Japan.

It’s the epic conclusion of our two part series covering episodes wherein the Sailor Guardians choose winter sports over rescuing their kidnapped/brainwashed comrade/love interest Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask. And to make the conclusion extra epic, Amanda Miller returns to discuss episode 39 of the 90s anime, which she infamously wrote a tumblr post about after being cast in the role of Sailor Jupiter. We run the gamut this week, covering everything from villain hairstyles to the advantages and disadvantages of trading your ability to form cohesive sentences for sweet, sweet, abdominals. And we basically all agree, we’d happily have a shoe-butt for the rest of our lives in exchange for access to that Dark Kingdom dating pool.

It’s the Black Moon Clan/[hopefully not] the Sailor Moon Crystal finale! We cover episode 26 of Crystal, act 26 of the manga, and episode 88 of the 90s anime. We’re super bummed out for dead Sailor Pluto, since apparently Chibiusa has taken on her job part time but doesn’t have to live in total solitude, and realize that the Black Lady plot of the 90s anime and that of the first Care Bears movie are basically one and the same. Also, taken out of context, it turns out that Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion may actually have been horrible parents.

This episode of the podcast covers episode 25 of Sailor Moon Crystal, Act 25 of the Sailor Moon manga, and episode 87 of the 90s anime. We dive into the finer points of Demande’s creepiness, applaud his commitment to said creepiness in Crystal, lament his lack of commitment in the 90s anime, and debate whether or not “malefic” is actually a word (update: it is). We also realize that, at this point in the 90s anime, we STILL don’t know that Wiseman is, in fact, Death Phantom.

We discover that Wiseman may secretly be the biggest gossip in the Black Moon Clan (though he’s definitely NOT Death Phantom ::wink::), and decide that all the men in the 90s Sailor Moon Universe seem to be taking fashion tips from Mamoru, or are perhaps, stealing Mamoru’s actual wardrobe. SPOILERS: Saphir dies. DOUBLE SPOILERS: It’s in the title of the episode.

We’re joined by host/movie critic/giant robot lover extraordinaire Megan Salinas (that’s @themenguin on Twitter) to discuss episode 23 of Sailor Moon Crystal, Act 23 of the Sailor Moon manga and episode 85 of the 90s anime. We discuss the finer details of Chibiusa’s brainwashing and eventual transformation into Black Lady, are unsure what business Neo Queen Serenity could possibly have outside of what we understand to be the last city on Earth in the 30th century, and come to realize that all the different versions of Sailor Moon, including the DiC dub of the 90s, seem to be just a little bit pro-incest.

It’s a Sailor Moon Crystal double episode of Love and Justice!! For a very good reason - if it weren’t a double episode, we’d have nothing to compare the final Black Moon Clan episode of Crystal to because the last episode of this story arc in the 90s anime is a filler episode. Also the 90s anime already loosely covered the plot of episode 21 in the last 10 minutes of episode 83. So this episode of the podcast covers episodes 21 and 22 of Crystal, acts 21 and 22 of the manga, and episode 84 of the 90s anime. And if there's anything to take away from this episode it's that Esmeraude's ultimate vision of herself is a non-threatening, slightly chubby, dragon.

It’s the episode of Love and Justice you’ve all been waiting for! The one where we talk about a beautiful lady playing a more attractive version of Tuxedo Mask than any dude could possibly hope to achieve. This episode is all about Sailor Moon: La Reconquista, the first of the new Takarazuka (meaning, all the roles are played by women) style Sailor Moon musicals, initially released as part of the 20th anniversary celebration. We’ve got a super hilarious guest, comedian/host/cosplayer Alana Jordan, who dreams of someday playing the role of “Incense Face”, and points out to us that the stab count in this musical surpasses that seen in any previous version of Sailor Moon.

Amanda, who is a long time Sailor Moon fan, was kind enough to join us to talk episodes 49 and 55 of the 90s anime! Sort of… We mostly just geek out about our mutual long time love of the franchise as a whole. And attempt to analyze what multiple dreams involving run-ins with celebrities at fast food chains mean on a deep psychological level.

This week we cover episode 20 of Sailor Moon Crystal, Act 20 of the manga and episode 83 of the 90s anime. We wonder why 90s anime Chibiusa winds up passed out in the floor (yes, IN) and are convinced that her future-dad is secretly a bad guy. Lola finds further proof that the 90s anime Crystal Tokyo experience truly is Soarin’ over California, while Kelby applauds the fact that Tuxedo Mask, with the help of a hang glider, finally evolves in Ultimate Dracula.

Cool show that strikes a good balance between entertainment and analysis. I especially like the great variety of topics (Manga, Crystal, old anime, PGSM, musicals...). Personally I'd like them to stay more on the topic of Sailor Moon though, since quite often they cover also other animes or mangas. The hosts are very likeable and it shows that they are good friends in real life, which gives the shows a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Occasionally however it seems like they are TOO good friends, since they share the same opinions on almost everything from which canon they prefer to which actress in the musicals they like best. This can make the show a bit boring and samey at times. It should also be mentioned thst they participate in fangirling quite a bit, which to me is a big selling point, but might not be for you, especially if you like to fall asleep to your podcast ;) Check this show out if you'd like to hear 3 friends geek out about Sailor Moon, with some seriousdiscussion thrown in for good measure.
