Speaker(s): Baroness Corston | The overwhelming majority of women in our prisons are serving very short sentences for non-violent offences frequently associated with mental ill health, abuse, addiction and poverty. Every year, about 17,000 children are affected by their mothers’ imprisonment, and, far too often, the family link is broken forever. Jean Corston will re-visit her groundbreaking 2007 report on vulnerable women in prison, and discuss subsequent developments.
