Rubenstein Fellow in Governance Studies and formerly a senior analyst with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), says that in the six-year history of the CFPB, its work has resulted in $12 billion in refunds and cancelled debts to more than 29 million consumers. As a battle over the agency’s leadership unfolds, she says “the bureau’s work has never been more mission critical.”
