The PAC-12 conference hasn't exactly been a heavy-weight sports conference for quite some time now. Sure, you have the Oregon Ducks and Utah Utes of the world, but the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins have underachieved considering their past successes. At the same time, other programs like the Arizona State Sun Devils, University of Arizona Wildcats, Washington Huskies, Washington State Cougars, and Stanford Cardinal do enough to stay afloat and the "best of the rest," being the University of California Golden Bears, Oregon State Beavers, and Colorado Buffaloes kind of just existing in the conference. As if this "good enough" conference wasn't being overlooked enough, two programs have opted to depart the PAC-12 conference altogether, with the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins headed to the BIG-10 conference in 2024. Calling this earth-shattering would be an understatement.

Not that we are ones for shouting that the sky is falling, but these two departures could just be the start for the PAC-12. The BIG-10 is also reportedly looking at Oregon and Washington, as well. If they jump ship as well, what will be left for the remainder of the conference? The ten schools still in the conference past 2024 (for now) should probably start looking for a new conference to join, and this should include our beloved Arizona State Sun Devils. Host Richie Bradshaw gives a heartfelt opinion on the state of the once-proud and self-proclaimed "conference of champions" and what our Arizona State Sun Devils should be thinking about over the next couple of years on this important edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.
