The latest inflation numbers are due out this morning which may lead to earlier than expected interest rate cuts. It's expected the consumer price index's annual rate will have fallen to 3.4 percent from 4 percent in March, but the quarterly results will have risen. The quarterly increase is expected to be driven by higer rents, insurance and power with a smaller contribution from food. ANZ economist Henry Russell spoke to Corin Dann.
