Submit ReviewIn 2018 Wildfire Magazine had the privilege of publishing Danielle Hernandez’s essay “Well, Let’s Start a Podcast” in the “The Caregivers” issue. Danielle was diagnosed at 32 with Stage IV breast cancer in 2017. She lived with MBC for five years, and then passed away on November 19, 2021. In this episode April is joined by Danielle’s mom Violeta Wall, and her dear friend Heather Higginbotham. Heather reads Danielle’s essay that is about how Danielle’s community rallied around her when cancer came. April, Violeta and Danielle will talk about Violeta’s own breast cancer diagnosis when Danielle was just 10, and then watching her daughter go through breast cancer later. They’ll take a deeper dive on the making of “Well This Sucks” podcast, and its legacy and impact. They will also discuss Violeta and Heather’s touching perspective as caregivers, and the advice they have for others caring for loved ones through cancer.
