The Creator’s Mind… Brokebot Mountain is a podcast created by Blazing Caribou Studios to discuss and breakdown HBO’s SciFi Western, “Westworld“. This week on The Creator’s Mind episode, hosts Kari Simms, Phil Rood, and David Luzader discuss Westworld’s Co-creator Jonathan Nolan and his work on the show. Defining: The Creator’s Mind We take a look at a creative tour de force behind Westworld’s, Mr. Jonathan Nolan.  Nolan, along with his wife Lisa Joy (and of course Michael Crichton), are responsible for the collective joy of everyone on this show by creating Westworld and taking the source material to daring new territory. The brother of filmmaker Christopher Nolan, Jonathan is similarly a writer, director, and producer, and this week we’re going to try to shed a little light on Jonathan’s career and his work in particular on Westworld.  Pony Express Nothing I have done has prepared me for the challenge of Westworld We’ve been anxiously awaiting HBO’s Westworld for what feels like forever. Originally, we hoped Westworld would arrive in 2015, then we heard 2016. And then production was shut down, and we heard it might be 2017 instead. What’s going on? We talked to showrunner Jonathan Nolan, and he filled us in.  We were talking to Nolan for an interview about the new season of Person of Interest, and we’ll be running that stuff in the next couple days. But while we had Nolan on the phone, we had to ask about his update of Michael Crichton’s famous “robot theme park gone wrong” story. After all, Westworld is one of our most anticipated projects, thanks to a brilliant cast (Ed Harris! Anthony Hopkins! Thandie Newton!) and Nolan’s incredible pedigree, including the way he reinvented the A.I. narrative with Person of Interest.
