Vanessa initially joined the Air Force but when that didn't work out she joined the Army a few years later. She wanted to work in the nursing field but it wasn't open so her recruiter recommended that she work in preventative medicine. It wasn't anything like she expected and didn't set up her future career like she had hoped. Today, she is a social worker and just released her newest book, Veterans Affairs Whistleblower Retaliation.
