The Non-Prophets, Episode 21.48 airing Sunday, 11.27.2022 featuring Richard Gilliver, Student Doctor Ben and Kelley Laughlin.Oh non-god I am stuffed. I don’t even want to invoke the Flying Spaghetti Monster as I don’t even want to THINK about food! If you are in the USofA we hope you had a great Thanksgiving (eg Gluttony day) and hope you don’t break the bank on all those sales (eg Greed day). Wonder if we can fit some more mortal sin days in the next few weeks. As for us The Non-Prophets we have also been stuffing ourselves with news articles for our hosts Richard Gilliver, Student Doctor Ben, and Kelley Laughlin to serve to you on a silver platter! Let’s get into it.First up, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the 8 BILLIONTH person born! At the same time, we are already and 8 BILLION PEOPLE! Seems the religious took that “go forth and multiply” thing seriously. Well here’s an idea, maybe when people are more secular they will study the carrying capacity of the planet and practice safer population growth. Here’s hoping Elon Musk’s plan to go to Mars is not his own version of population control.Up next. Show of hands, who here has heard the phrase “hate the sin, love the sinner”? Hmm I am seeing a lot of hands out there. Well seems that The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints (not typing that out again) is living that. They seem to be just fine with Congress trying to codify gay marriage. They still think it is a sin and that you are all going to burn in hell forever and ever… Hey, it’s baby steps right?Speaking of changing view points, seems some US Bishops are really worried about the their congregations views on abortion. Those diagonal moving church leaders seem to not be able to put their pawns in check. So they spend their knights deep in their rooks to stop all those nasty mates. Also somewhere queens are involved. Hey doing a whole thing on chess puns is harder than you think when you are board!Lastly, We take a look back at Thomas Jefferson and his terrible, horrible, no good very bad Thanksgiving. No, wait that was Alexander who wasn’t Hamilton. Oh no I must not break out into song! AhHem… Seems it partly had to do with separation of church and state which he was a big supporter of. Then again he was also hypocritical in a lot of other aspects. So I guess we still have a lot of mixed feelings about this. That will do it for this week. Be sure to tune in this Sunday at 3:00 PM Central. Most of the shows this week were pre-recorded, but Talk Heathen and The Atheist Experience are going to be live shows.
