On August 23rd, 1971, a babysitter picked up 21-month-old Melissa Highsmith from her mother’s apartment in Fort Worth, Texas. The woman, who identified herself as Ruth Johnson, however, never returned with Melissa. The Fort Worth Police and the FBI were never able to obtain a solid lead as to Melissa’s whereabouts and, 48 years later, remain baffled by the case.
