The Edmonton Oilers finally out chanced a team but they came up short against the Winnipeg Jets, losing 4-2. Edmonton was all over the Jets for much of the game, with the top two lines led by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl engineering numerous scoring chances. Edmonton had 17 Grade A chances to seven for the Jets. But a botched passing play by Edmonton goalie Mike Smith proved to be the killer for Edmonton's fortunes this game. Of course, the game was overshadowed by the National Basketball Association cancelling its season, with some league commentators expecting the National Hockey League to do the same.
