Following The Big Sick, Kumail Nanjiani and director Michael Showalter reunite again with The Lovebirds. The Lovebirds is the romantic comedy starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani. Originally scheduled to be a theatrical release by Paramount Pictures in April 2020 but delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic – its rights were sold to Netflix. On the brink of breaking up, Jibran (Kumail Nanjiani) and Leilani (Issa Rae) get unintentionally embroiled in a bizarre murder mystery. As they get closer to clearing their names and solving the case, they need to figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.
