Beatrice speaks with Minh-ha T. Pham about the extractive dynamics of the global garment industry, what happened to garment workers in the global south in the early days of the pandemic, and understanding the need to end sweatshop labor through an abolitionist lens.
Minh-ha T. Pham is an Associate Professor in the Graduate Program in Media Studies at Pratt Institute, and is the author of ”Why We Can’t Have Nice Things: Social Media’s Influence on Fashion, Ethics, and Property” (2022).
Her essay “A World Without Sweatshops: Abolition Not Reform” is included in the recently released anthology from Haymarket, “Abolition Feminisms: Organizing, Survival and Transformative Practice."
