This week, SSS duty geezer Leigh Allan and his son and (usually) west coast correspondent, Will, prove their stick-to-itiveness as they delve into the world of (theoretically) disappearing illegal substances that prove their stick-to-itiveness on baseballs and what it might mean, while more sadly delving into the (all too real) disappearing of Nick Madrigal’s season and what it might mean. The two also go over the week that was, including a whole lot of brilliant starting pitching. There’s also worry about some things happening on the offensive side, including the Mariana Trench-level slump of Yermín Mercedes and its very negative impact on José Abreu. And they once again beg for the disappearance (just from the White Sox, we’re not violent) of Adam Eaton, knowing it will never happen. Plus the hoped-for reappearances of Eloy Jiménez and Luis Robert. Plus, they throw in multiple plugs for next week’s program, to be recorded June 23, because it will feature University of Illinois Physics Professor Emeritus Alan Nathan, a renowned expert on the physics of baseball, talking about things like the baseball itself, spin rates and their impact.
