The San Francsico Giants signed Mitch Haniger to a three-year deal on Tuesday, but they continued to have their eye on a much larger prize. Literally. Aaron Judge to the San Francisco Giants remains a distinct possibility, and for about seven minutes in the two o'clock hour, it was believed that Judge was indeed headed to the Giants. MLB Network's Jon Heyman tweeted that Judge was headed to the SF Giants at around 2:20 p.m., only to walk back the statement at 2:27.

In Haniger, the Giants are getting a local guy who's an everyday player. He's been significantly above-average against lefties and righties throughout his whole career, and he's known as being an elite clubhouse presence. Interestingly, the Giants backloaded Haniger's deal, or at least offered him far less in 2023, which seems to suggest the Giants plan to add significant payroll to the 2023 team.

Carlos Baerga, who correctly reported Justin Verlander's deal with the Mets a day before anyone else, also dropped an absolute bombshell tonight. He says that the Giants are getting Aaron Judge AND that they could sign Carlos Correa in addition. Adding Haniger, Judge, and Correa would be an absolute dream, but one step at a time. Judge remains to top focus for now, and Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle seems to be suggesting that her sources indicate a deal could be imminent. Buckle up, Giants fans. A wild week could get even more wild from here on out.
