The Giants are hoping for another Joctober. Joc Pederson has been an October baseball staple over the course of his career, and he joins the SF Giants on a one-year deal. Matthew Boyd, an intriguing depth signing for the rotation, also joins the team for 2023. However, the news of these two signings was overshadowed by the Dodgers acquiring yet another superstar in his prime, inking Freddie Freeman to a six-year deal last night.

On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick talks about how Pederson and Boyd will fit the Giants, and why he understands fans' disappointment at the relatively small moves compared to the Dodgers' acquisition of Freeman. The Giants have spent money this offseason, but they've really spread it around and haven't made any commitments longer than three years. Anthony DeSclafani, Alex Wood, and Brandon Belt were re-signed. Alex Cobb and Carlos Rodón were added to the rotation. Pederson joins the offense, and the likes of Boyd, Jakob Junis, and Carlos Martínez are depth signings for the rotation/bullpen.

Ben also discusses the official changes to the schedule to make up the six games that were lopped off from the beginning of the year. The Giants make up the games in some tough ways in Milwaukee, and now end the year on the road against the Padres. The Dodgers get the advantage of ending the season with six home games against the lowly Rockies, who, by the way, signed Kris Bryant to a seven-year, $182 million deal yesterday.
