Billy McCarthy is the son of first and second generation Irish immigrants Margaret and Bill McCarthy. Their lives changed forever on 9/11, when they lost their son and brother Michael Desmond in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centres in 2001. Michael Desmond worked on the 92nd floor of the North Tower, with a company called Carr Futures. He was 33, an assistant vice president, hugely successful and due to finish work that day at 10am. Today, Billy speaks to me about the day that changed everything and I am so grateful for his time.
