To meet Laurie-Ann Sheldrick is to meet someone who is, in her words "contagiously positive".You might think it's natural for her, or that she was born this way.Not so. She hit rock bottom in her 20's and it took over 10 years to dig herself out. This is Laurie-Ann's story.

Running a life coaching practice over the past 10 years has taught me so much. Not just about my clients, but about myself. We are constantly learning, changing, growing and evolving and it’s easier to navigate life together. The questioned I asked all the time, even to this day, was, “who am I?” I have learnt that there is not one answer because our lives, you, us, me are always changing. Who are you? You are all of it! Everything that you’ve been, are, want to be is who you are.I spent most of my life trying to figure out who I was because I was focused on being who people were telling me I should be. But when I truly started to look within, shutting out the noise of who I should be, is when I began to ask, “who do you want to be?” And my authentic self was hidden behind all the should be masks. With support from amazing coaches, healers and therapists, I started to take off the masks and show up as just ME, the me in that moment. And in 2009, a man I worked with said, “you are so f$%king contagiously positive.” This was incredibly impactful on me as being or feeling anything positive had not been my default. It made me really understand the impact we can have on each others lives. One thing I knew very early on in my own healing process was that I never wanted anyone to ever feel alone in their experiences or feelings the way I had. So a couple years after being dubbed the contagiously positive girl, I left behind a 10 year career in project management to become a certified life coach.I started a coaching practice so that I could guide women (men are welcome too) into making they mental and emotional health a top level, code red priority. We cannot bypass the inner work. We cannot ignore our feelings. We are living, breathing, FEELING human beings. We are born with emotions and live in a contrasting world that gives us a lot to feel and respond to.That is why it is so important to have a toolkit full of practices, knowledge and support to help us strengthen our mental, emotional, spiritual, attitudinal wellbeing. We make decisions based on how we are feeling, how we want to feel, or how we think it will make us feel. Wherever we go, and whatever we do, our emotions come along with us. We have a vast, ever moving emotional scale and there is no shame in feeling what we have been conditioned to believe are “negative” emotions. So when it comes to working with organizations, or with individuals in one-on-one coaching, online courses, workshops or speaking engagements, emotional intelligence is built into everything.
